1001 Albums Summary

Overall great tracks and instrumentals, not at all of them are a hit for me but there’s definitely a couple songs I enjoyed in there. The tracks are good soul now Bowie’s quality of interpretation lies in the ears of the beholder as it’s such a unique voice and way of expression. Very hit and miss, for me his version of across the universe is a huuuge miss but a lot of the A side is really nice

Simply a fire album, I feel like I haven’t been able to appreciate it fully just with the time of the day but it feels like one of those that takes multiple listens to grow ok you and fully impact you so I’ll be keeping it in my library running it again and again

Except for Unfunky UFO and kind of Give up the funk, I feel like the grooves are a bit too similar through the album and horns are chaotic the whole way through, clashing in the mix a lot with whatever improv or ad libs the vocals are going for. I get this style calls for a repetitive groove, as old school funk would want it and just come back to the 1 every time and groove along but I feel like I’d rather hear James brown in that case or earth wind and fire or tower of power for more eventful songs. I know the band is legendary though and I am very very inclined to hearing later albums and other projets of George Clinton

Love Blue Sunday. Probably not the best Doors album but still a great listen

Not normally being too much into really british punk/rock, that was a surprisingly refreshing listen. The tracks are overall good and fun, really like the more mellow tunes at the end but the more punky parts were still very nice to groove along to.

Great funky tracks, pretty credible on the guitar and the drums and also pretty eventful songs although quite repetitive, really couldn’t get into the voice of the singer though. Heard about other records from them from friends of mine that I liked much more so I guess this one is just really not for me and probably not their best work either

A pretty unique style of honey sloth songs and some although still soft more upbeat songs, wouldn’t be my everyday music but definitely a nice little intimate niche to dwell on during rainy days.

I thought U2 was the most overrated band ever, but I just take that statement back after this listen as I can clearly understand what set them apart back then. I didn’t grow emotionally attached to the songs (except with or without you of course) but I feel like the songs deserve more listens so I can grow attached over time as it’s a pretty unique universe with a great sound and good ideas

The truest 5 starts I’ve put there, original songs at the start and then original takes on established styles on the second half, the first track hooked me straight away. The quality of production for 1973 is also pretty crazy especially given the difficulties during the recording of that album.
