Maybe my favorite LZ record
Some solid and interesting BritPop, similar to Pulp or elements of Belle and Sebastian. Baroque-pop? Worth listening to, although not sure I'll listen often. First song was especially solid.
He’s a great song writer and I enjoy his songs, but get tired in large doses. I enjoy a cd of Dylan covers more than original recordings.
Has some great songs. Would be amazing live. Don’t love the screaming songs. Some great guitar sounds. Would prefer if it was a single disc album.
I have a lot of respect for girl punk although it’s a genre I don’t listen to much myself. Reminds me of bikini kill or girl riot or similar bands (even Semi Precious Weapons even though that’s boys). Some songs I could see myself putting in a playlist and raging to, but not sure if I’d listen to the entire album again
This album and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill have been on my list to listen to for a while. Well put together album that seems cohesive while also having diversity. Of course, Killing me Softly is an all time great. Genre I don’t listen to much. I realize part of that is because I don’t hear words, only music, so songs that feature the same loops are less interesting to me. And lyrically based music (rap) means I missing out if the majority of what makes the music good.
A great album to put on the background while getting work done as it doesn't require much active listening. Fun listen. Get it On is a classic, and I also really enjoyed Rip Off.
Great album. Some of the best. Love it
Never heard the name, but was familiar with some songs. Back when albums were a compilation of songs rather than a theme/concept album. Some good ones on it though.
Shoegaze punk. Never heard of the band or this album before. Not necessarily a bad album but didn’t resonate with me. I’m not cool enough to like this album although I’m guessing more than 50% of people who like this album are to be pretentious than actually like it. Little hooks or melody. Very repetitive
Really liked it! Not the biggest fan of the newer Kendrick Lamar stuff but this one I enjoyed a lot. Wondered why most of the language was edited out…
Another album and artist I’d never heard of. Really liked the first few songs especially. As the album progressed, thought it became a little weaker. Would be great background / studying music. Reminds a bit of Ratatat (but more mellow) or RJD2 etc.
Fantastic album. I am very familiar with this and Nick Drake’s discography and this is an album I listened to repeatedly about 10 years ago. I’m still not sure what my favorite Nick Drake album is but that’s because they’re all so good, but this one is iconic
Can’t give half stars so gave it 5 after a full listen. Another album I’ve listened to multiple times especially about 18 years ago. Great album. Hard to choose a favorite Beck, but after listening again in full realized just how strong it is.
Pretty fun album and could see myself liking it more if I listened to it more. Did recently hear and save one song to my playlist but didn’t know them much. Jackass theme song took me by surprise! Would be interested in learning more about these guys.
Honestly struggled to get into it and didn’t finish. Seemed very generic
Good listen but nothing fantastic. Reminds me of High School and The Borne movies. Like the faster songs better than the slow ones
Pretty good. For a first record, he has some really strong and fun pop songs. Kind of ends on a slow/downer but it’s all good
Wow. Maybe the worst album I’ve listened to. Had to turn it off half way through. Made me feel yucky. Wouldn’t consider it music. Some may consider it art. I consider it trash.
Wow. Never heard before but this is a fantastic album. Prog rock. Sounds of Boston and CSNR and Mars Volta. Heard the deluxe version and the cover of America by Simon & Garfunkel was also fantastic.
Fun to hear an album of world music. Hearing a pre-English version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight was super cool. I liked it. Kids said it reminded them of Disneyland Adventureland music
Such a fun listen. Really like the songs, sampling and energy. Also like Chuck D’s voice a lot
Solid jazz album but not as iconic as some of the others. Good background music I wouldn’t be upset to listen to, but wouldn’t be a go to jazz album for me.
Not a big fan. Big 90s feel and feels very dated. None really stood out.
Was alright. Listened while mowing lawn so didn’t see all songs so don’t remember which ones, but a few good ones. Liked the instrumentals at the end. But definitely not my favorite Bowie album
Have some great songs. Side A is the best. With it has Suite Judy Blue Eyes on this album and it would have made it the best.
Great album. Never heard of them before. 90s Brit pop. Elements of some U2 or early Radiohead or even British version of Fountains of Wayne. Some good instrumentals too. Would definitely listen again
Good album. Reminds me of my dad because he used to listen to this when we were young. I still like Making Movies better as this one is a little 80s heavy in songs
Fun listen. I like Elvis Costello a lot more than would be expected because I don’t listen to him much. I always like his music when I hear it though. A unique musician (although Joe Jackson sounds a little like him).
Fantastic. One of my favorites. Took me by surprise the first time I heard it and still does.
Never heard of Machito before but I’m a sucker for this type of Carrib jazz. Great album
I’m not the biggest fan of Immigrant Song even though it’s one of their most popular, so I admit I wasn’t loving the start. But then the fourth song I really liked and I felt like the rest of the album was pretty strong. Still not my favorite Led Zeppelin album but liked it a lot more than I thought I would at the start
Good times has one of the best baselines ever. Besides that, while not a bad album, it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. Not my style (disco esque) and some songs were repetitious and a bit boring.
Fun romper. The Irish accent is great for punk. I still don’t fully understand all the love for the New York Fairytale song AS a Christmas song. As a song it’s great, but for Christmas?
Never heard of them. I actually think if I had this one in regular rotation I’d like it more. English folk. Reminds me a bit of Astral Weeks but obviously nowhere as good.
Pretty boring. First song had an ok loop but the rest weren’t that great
Pretty stellar. I think I actually like it better than Dark Side of the Moon. Great atmospheric music. I listened on noise canceling earphones and the transition from Have a Cigar to Wish You were Here threw me for a loop. Awesome mix and effect.
Wasn’t bad per se, just definitely not my style. Not a record I would ever play myself. I just watched The Burdcage and it reminds me of the music that was in the skundtrack
Fantastic. Will need to give Spritualized a deep dive listen. Great full album. Reminds of some Brit Pop vibes but underlay of big soundful albums from Radiohead or TV on the Radio
Fantastic album. Love the harmonies and the music. Sorry Neil Young but I think their best album was without you.
Not a huge REM fan to begin with but I do like their main hits sparingly. Honestly, found this album pretty boring. I get why some people might like it, it’s just not for me.
