Be by Common
Nov 15 2023

It feels like the fingerprints of this album are all over pop and hip hop since its release, probably due to Kanye's influence over it and his subsequent success as a solo artist. This album feels very mid-00s as a 1st time listener in 2023 but having a date does not ruin an album, it just makes it a product of its time.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Nov 16 2023

Maybe this album was revolutionary in 1973 but I am quickly learning that I do not like Bowie's body of work - it sounds very messy in a way that similar-sounding albums have tightened up. Granted other albums were probably very influenced by this style but it's not for me

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Nov 17 2023

This is a nice album - varied but still completely "The Doors". Doesn't indulge itself too much, nice and tight, some bit hits from it

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Nov 21 2023

Alison hard carries this album - it feels so generic and like it was written 5 minutes before recording each track

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Nov 27 2023

This is probably the best pop album ever

Ten by Pearl Jam

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Dec 14 2023

Feels like every indie album since owes itself to this in a lot of ways

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Dec 15 2023

P good blues rock album

1989 by Taylor Swift
Dec 19 2023

Amy will kill me if I don't give this 5 stars

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Jan 01 2024

Great little album, lots of recognisable songs that seem to have had a lot of influence on subsequent artists

Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
Jan 03 2024

I would not listen to this whole album regularly, nor would I skip past a song if it came on the radio

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Jun 10 2024

It does in fact make you want to Rage Against The Machine

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Jun 11 2024

I feel like a lot of the albums on this list have been paid homage to or parodied so much in the subsequent years that it becomes extremely difficult to evaluate them without all that has come since
