I'd rather be listening to Etta James or Chuck Berry.
Oh hey its that gorillaz guy
By far the best album to feature a hippie on a stationary bike. Listening to it again I think little me was much more interested in side B than side A.
I'm still finishing up Cosmo's Factory as I write this. I'm about to dive into Figure 8, but I am writing this and giving it 5 stars before I even start. Curious to see how I feel about the rating in the near future.
I wish everybody could sing like Willie
Might be the perfect album.
I made it to the fifth track, and it is boring. I'm out.
I thought I would like it more than I did.
I got a few songs in and bailed. It just sounded terrible. Crazy that probably my favorite sounding album (Siamese Dream) was also produced by Butch VIg. 1 Star because hey why not.
Two songs from this record were on at least one of the mixtapes made me when I was small. The rest is fine to good. Nice to expand my Elvis Costello experience.
1. Keith Morris
2. Chavo
3. Henry
4. Dez
(I think Henry is actually the worst Black Flag singer, but for me his non-musical contributions to the band put him over Dez.)
Listened up until "Common People".
An album of hits. What else can you say?
The hits are undeniable. The rest is fine. Fun 80's pop. Cyndi's singing alone makes my heart want to give it a four but my by brain is in control right now.
Coincidentally, YT music has been pushing "Heroes" (the single) to me a lot lately. If it weren't for the fact that I performed "The Secret Life Of Arabia on keys with a group Wilton James put together for a few Bowie tribute shows back when the man kicked the bucket, I would probably describe this album as "the single and a bunch of forgettable stuff".
No shade on Radiohead, but I'm a few tracks in and I want to hear something new.
Ok wait as I typed the above the drop to "Sit Down. Stand Up." Just dropped.
Ok I've heard "Sail To the Moon" before. Let's See what Ryan Adams has for me.
Started strong but quickly became boring. Let's go, Willie
The sound of driving down the highway in a car with hand crank windows rolled down.
The falsetto screaming around track three got my attention in a bad way.
Once again I wish everybody could sing like Willie
I'm not even gonna start it. I've listened to it a million times.
Young Elvis rocks. Long live the 30 minute album
The sound of 1958, and the cover to match
Phil Spector's ultimate heat check, "Silent Night". I really have nothing intelligent to say about it, I just want to note my awe at it's inclusion on this album.
I think it was fine. I'm not sure. Latin Jazz I think?
I need to know more about this album.
Skimmed it. Lame. "Why Does It Always Rain On Me" is the hit
Just how I thought it would sound
Kinda like MGMT but boring
I kinda thought I liked this band. Turned out they are boring as hell
Surprised by this one. Other Bowie records I've tried have mostly felt like "the hits and a bunch of other shit". Reminded me of Teenager of the Year somehow. Similar synth sounds maybe.
First two tracks had me thinking I was going to love the whole album
I appreciated the fact that they didn't try to stretch ideas into songs all the time. the hits hit, though
Not really my thing, but seems competent for what it is
Some interesting moments production-wise, but I think the most important thing I realized is that one reason I've never really had much interest in Joni Mitchell is because her melodies are so damned boring.
Unbelievably boring. Why do I know this bands name?
Should listen to it again but I am rating it from memory because I've heard it plenty
I need to come back to this, but I think maybe I can't rate the Sonics record I just listened to before I do this.
Giving it five stars because of five year old karaoke me doing this song.
Five white dudes in 1965 making garage rock. A sax and a piano show up. Kinda want to do a cover of "Psycho."
Grew on me as it went on. Thankful the version I found was just the album, and not a re-release with a bunch of bullshit added on because time no longer exists.
Five stars because why the hell not
