Pretty chill, their sound is kind of dated and doesn’t stand the test of time unfortunately. Red Red Wine came out way before (1983) and could argue that was their peak. Production is kinda mediocre and every song on this album is hardly distinguishable from the next. How tf is this top 1000?? This list is whack
Love the mixing of drums and guitar for a care free and high energy sound. Songs that I personally have not heard but have the quality of being familiar at the same time. For an album that is 50+ years old, holds up beautifully and has that timeless quality about it, lending itself to another 50 years and beyond of enjoyment reaching down into the soul and bringing out the ziggy stardust in us all. Want to go for a run or do chores around the house while dancing? This album delivers the backdrop for such activities. The building of guitar chords and drums on Jean Genie really gets you crackin on bruv!
What can I say besides “ughh”! Prince is a little freak and it’s awesome. RIP to the only nympho to ever come out of Minnesota 💜
Lounge/ coffee shop vibe. Relaxing sounds while you make gnocchi or chop veggies in the kitchen. Love the use of different instruments that are still prevalent today in the current sonic culture of Brazil and U.S. Kinda sleepy for me, not mad at it. Prefer something a little more up -tempo, little more percussion for my taste 🥁
Track 1 - High School Confidential: Okay it’s got a lot of energy and is pretty fun. Excited to see what else is in store… Track 2 - Money: Alright kind of sounds the same, similar if not identical riffs and melody throughout. It’s a live performance, they’re warming up the crowd… I’ll let them cook. Track 3 -Great Balls of Blah Blah Blah: It’s like the same one continuous song 🙄 I would get down to it more if I was alive in the 60’s, high as a kite, sweating like I just took a hot shower in Vietnam in the humid summer delirious off watery beer and whiskey… but I’m just finding it hard to find replay value and how this made 1001 greatest albums ?? Like c’mon bruv, let’s give credit to the Black Blues artists that predate this man and who he clearly takes inspiration from. Overall, it was just cool 🤷🏻♂️
Ahh what a breath of fresh air this album is from yesterday! That being said…. Michael is a sad boy whose heart was broken and his style is reminiscent of early indie music from 90’s and 2000’s. Blending some nice vocals and various string accompaniments that make it feel recent yet familiar to days gone by. I enjoy the vibe, but c’mon dude let her/(him?) go you know? Go to therapy, journal, take yoga, I dunno find that “Solid Ground” or “Light” you’re yearning for my man. I gave it a good listen while making eggs so my headspace was a little different compared to his I suppose. He’s got a nice voice but would be cool to hear him explore that in a positive direction and embrace his Ugandan roots and do a full album with more African inspired influence. Undoubtedly under represented in this genre (indie, folk, RnB) —> would be fresh to hear especially from someone with impressive pipes to showcase and blend old culture with new flair
Brother needs some mucinex, but I like how mellow it is. Piano on title track is calming and sets the tone for the record. Songs blend into one another like warm summer nights in the central coast giving rise to the next day. Listened to it pretty quick so first take I’ll be generous
"Ten" is a banger, I was listening to this album a lot when working out in Portland. Perfect amount of angsty energy and grunge that pleases the iron gods. I especially like the tracks Black, Jeremy, and Release. The growling vocals by Vedder adds depth and resonance that pairs well with the electric guitar and heavy drums that is iconic of the band's sound. The building of chords and progression throughout the tracks blend classic rock elements with almost psychedelic riffs and long drawn out vocals with backing pianos create a haunting, mystifying feel. Honorable mention, Eddie Vedder is a top notch fellow and has done a lot of humanitarian work aside from his music career including activism for women's rights re: abortion and right to choose, environmental impact, and political reform. I would replay this album in a heartbeat and think it will stand the test of time as a timeless record.
Definitely high energy, kind of generic for my taste. Not really feeling it
That was a tough listen. Scraping nails on a chalkboard come to mind. Can see why edge lord teenagers "discover" this band and feel like they are so cool and that everything else is lame. Maybe cool for a Halloween/ haunted house theme playlist.
Okay was not expecting to warm up to this one. Definitely a slow burn, anyone else picking up Diablo catacomb vibes from this album ?? This maybe played a part in the game soundtrack, it’s eerily similar… who knows? The spooky and echoey voices in the later tracks make for a creepy ambience that are chilling ! Would I listen to this all the time ? No, I’m not of the occult. I liked it while folding laundry 🧺
Coming out the gates kicking! This album has some real punk rock n roll energy to it and they've done something unique here. "Is She Weird" is the first song that slows down the bpm and gives much needed pacing through the album as all high energy fast tracks can be a little dizzying. Marking the shift in tempo on the aforementioned track, the latter tracks of the record are more beach vibes and remind one of cruising down PCH or even along Vineyard or Bethel Rd in Templeton with the Tracker and wind whipping through the hair. Was slow for me to get into the first few tracks, but quickly warmed up to it and was pleasantly surprised. I hear notes of No Doubt, Red Hot Chilis, Sublime, Weezer, definitely leaning more SoCal vibes from their sound. Kinda grunge but more beach bonfire and skate park. Solid album, like their sound.
It was cool, probably won’t listen to this album at length again though
Meh, it’s music
Actually really enjoyed this one while doing a puzzle yesterday morning. A real crooner that sounds like it comes from earlier decades. Wild that this came out 2005! Very soothing and calm tracks, Michael Buble probably took major inspo from this guy, but way more gimmicky in my opinion. Would consider checking out more of Hawley's discography for rainy days or just lazy days lounging at home.
Good ol' country, not mad at it. Probably only getting a 3 because I just returned from northern AZ and romanticizing the ranch life with horses and trucks. Besides that, pretty meh. Like this better than modern pop country that gets more radio time nowadays, but who listens to radio anymore?? Not my first choice, and probably won't listen to it again by my own volition.
Recognizable hits Circa Fifa 07 soundtrack has one of these songs, track #2 I think 🤔 It’s alright… again how are these top 1001 ? Biased af
Finally! An album worth listening to, was good when it released and has tons of replay value. Catchy tunes, radio hits, and some lesser known gems on this album. Love the Killers (Vegas locals btw ) Took some time off from this album generator because the selection is pretty whack, but back at it and determined to give it another shot after a hiatus.
WOW, <3 Missy Intro/ Go to the Floor - Message is authentic and raw, you can tell Missy is above the bullshit and on some. Set it Off!!!! Coming out swinging She delivers both smash radio hits and introspective emotional tracks on the album. As she said it herself, she is "Under Construction" working on herself and I'm here for it. You can hear Missy's influence in pretty much every female hip hop artist out now. They all want to be flashy and spit bars, but they lean too heavy on sexuality 🍑 to sell records and unfortunately that works (discussion for another place/time). Missy uses a fresh combo of funk, RnB mashups, old school hip hop, and her own Missy style to Bring the Pain and WORK IT! Combine her flow with production from Timbaland... shyyytttt it's a wrap... game, set, match! 🎾 I need a glass of water after this one 🥵🔥

Classic, one of the most recognizable voices in music. A hint of playfulness and grittiness in his lyrics and tone. Would I play it again?? Maybe
Sure makes me want to shleep. Would be Beetles sound without the notable hits and memorable lyrics
Pretty chill, their sound is kind of dated and doesn’t stand the test of time unfortunately. Red Red Wine came out way before (1983) and could argue that was their peak. Can’t lie, this slaps and will continue to slap. Do your thing Mr. Davis ! 🎶 🎺 🎶 Great replay value and calm, soothing tracks for any given day.
Haunting, churning, visceral, timeless album. Can have this playing in many settings. In the backdrop at home, during a party, or as a listening event, at the foci of guests’ attention to mesmerize and captivate. Released nearly 50 years ago, true art is unfazed by the test of time. Will listen to this again on a roadtrip, while camping, I could go on. Could teach a music history course on this album and Pink Floyd’s impact on music. 💎🎸🧿
🔊 COCAINE!!! 📣 It’s not too shabby. Some enjoyable tracks, may listen to more ABBA down the road but it’s pretty generic dance tracks and didn’t even finish the entire album.
It was kind of boring
🥱 another old rock band
