Superb selection of songs, performed with an almost fervent anarchic energy. The garage rock recording style does impede on some of the polished soul warmth however. A great performance, but perhaps not a great album.

An over produced, rock opera straddling the bounds of parody. Its also brilliant. Wall to wall bangers from a ridiculous human that never takes himself too seriously.

A beautifully, written, performed and produced collections of songs from the pint sized balladeer of mid-century America. His usual magpie nature sees him borrowing from such diverse influences as Mississipi Delta Blues to Reggae, but his delivery lack either the authenticity of these influences, or the later inventiveness of 'Gracelands'.

Like so many things that are so effortlessly cool, it is also incredibly boring and lacking in substance.

Beautifully produced, expansive electronica, enriched and lifted by its South East Asian influences.

Manages to be abrasive and heavy, while sounding thin with no richness of sound. With the exception of Black Skinhead it is devoid of bangers. Some of the worst lyrics and melodies I have heard on this list.

Obviously a highly influential and well constructed album, but I can't get over the horne voice and find it difficult to distinguish between the maudlin warblings.
