1001 Albums Summary

Ambient-core with great supporting instrumentation (I’m looking at you flute in the title track). Doesn’t floor me but I do really like it.

Quintessential 80s sound. A little too brooding and sterile in production for my taste. I can’t say I loved it, glad I heard it though.

First half was sick. Then I got a little fatigued with the constant drone. The singles definitely rip, but I am not a Metallica convert after that album.

Man there is a lot of interaction with the crowd.

I remember first hearing The Who and being struck by how unique their sound was. 20 years later I see some shades of early punk in the mix, know who Bo Diddly and James Brown are, and think it’s kinda “meh”.

I like the band but I think californication is just better.

I have come across this album a few times and never really understood the appeal. I learned that it is early Björk this time around. Not my cuppa

The lyrics were overwrought and everything else was meh.

Broadway melody is unintentionally hilarious. This whole prog rock thing is not for you genesis. I love invisible touch and later Peter Gabriel.

Hard for me to rate in a vacuum. I really don’t care for her artistic direction.

Came out after the Pixies song, just sayin.

I mean maybe if you are really into their sound its good. I think rumors is just a better ablum.

Solid REM pop album. Older stuff is better.
