I always thought "The Bargain" was about grocery store coupons, but actually it's super romantic - the narrator is willing to murder for her/him. And that would be a bargain if that's all he has to do.
Also, for the record, I do know what it's like to be behind blue eyes.
I suspect that I do not fully appreciate this album because 1) it's been overplayed on the radio and 2) it's just not my jam.
I agree with the sentiment of 'Going Mobile' but not the expression.
They sing "oh what wow" 23 times, which does make the case that "he is the greatest dancer more convincing", and I would now like to see him dance myself.
I didn't quite feel the passion come through in "lost in music" - the words say that they've never felt so alive and are ready to quit the 9 to 5, but the voice says it's just a song.
I had some fun listening to this, even danced a little to a few tracks in the middle of work, but I'll probably never listen to it again.
This is one of the soundtracks of my childhood although at the time, I didn't realize you weren't supposed to say f4gg0t, even if he was getting his money for nothing and his chicks for free and you were jealous. All I knew as a kid was that yes, I did want my MTV.
It's not unpleasant but I find it unremarkable. It's really in the top 1001? Really? I feel like in 10 more years this will fall out.
Aside from the fact that I would rate 7 of 9 songs 5 stars, I like the ambiguity and minimalism of the title.
At first I was thinking that this album wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, but then "We hate it when our friends became successful" came on: the lyrics, the voice, everything are so "poor me".
I might give it 2 stars, but I'm rating it in the context of being in the top 1001 albums and it is definitely in the lowest quintile.
I can't separate my thoughts about this album from the number of times I listened to it as a kid. At that age, I don't think I fully appreciated how unusual a lyric like "architects may come and architects may go and never change your point of view" is in pop music.
I've heard it before, at some point (college) I thought it was cool, but I was never in love. Probably a 3.5
I would like to dedicate the last track on the first side of this album to the fearless leader of this album review group. That is all.

5 stars for the beat, random shouts and animal sounds and 5 stars for the synchronicity: I just listened to a podcast about Rafael Hernandez this morning.
I was having more fun than expected with the first two songs, but then it just went on and on for an hour.
Spotify took me listening to this whole album to mean that I love Elvis.
Some of the lyrics actually killed a few of my brain cells (see, e.g., the "fingernails are pretty" section of song 1). Musically seemed unremarkable. I predict it won't have a lasting legacy.
This should have been a delight, but they made it lite. Like a cheap diet food. It did not satisfy.

If you've never listened to the lyrics of "Turn Blue", I recommend it. I think I might be missing something culturally / generationally:

First listen I was going to give it 4 stars, second listen changed it to 5. Imagine what further listens could do.
There are some great songs on here, but it felt too long and watered down with a few less great songs.
This was better than expected. I think I heard this band once in the past (maybe in a bad mood) and wrote them off, but this album is interesting.
Zuna loved "Attack! El Robot! Attack!" - her ears perked up and she stopped chewing on her foot.

I have mixed feelings about Neil Young - some of the songs are so good, some are so bad, and then there's the voice.
Somehow this was still cool by the time I was in middle school. I can't tell if it's nostalgia, but it even seems cool now.
Only listened to a couple songs because it's not on spotify and I was too lazy to track them all down individually on YouTube. Imagine this project 20 years ago.
Maybe I'm just a misanthrope.
I had only heard the top hit before. The album is fun, but I think it would get old quickly.
