This album is like a mix of bluesy punkish tracks and those albums of dudes muttering barfy lyrics in fake British accents overtop of doot-doot type "riffs" but is pretty enjoyable with satisfying songwriting to back it up. Shame that David Bowie worked on it though he already has like 30 albums does he really need to leech off of other guys too?? And what is this bloke on about in Turn Blue?????
If you don't like the kind of music they play in the waiting room at the doctor's office, you won't like this album in the slightest. It's honestly shocking how much influence it seems this album has had on modern songwriting with its simplistic, incessantly repetitive melodies and signature self-indulgent singing style. (I guess I'm thinking 2010s sappy pop ballads.) The album is filled with enough richly ringing acoustic guitar and 80s production to make it a somewhat bearable listen for me personally, however, but you quickly want it to be over.
FUCK FAST CAR
Very well paced album, but I don't find the music itself very compelling. It all feels a little bland and I don't care for any of the vocals. Or any of the tracks really. Besides The Chain. I do not understand how this album is considered one of the greatest of all time.
A collection of idiosyncratic but compelling rockers.
Mostly forgettable bluesy nonsense with a dash of good songwriting thrown in. Greatly overshadowed by "Paint it Black" but apparently that song's not even in the real version?????
I should hate this pretentious-ass bullshit, but I can't help but find it all incredibly touching.
Eyyy mon this shit sucks
Groovy enough. Second track bangs
Lots of talent, but lots of the same soul groove trudging on for far too long.
Sounds like a drunk, British, new wave Violent Femmes. Which is a moronic thing to say BUT this means it's a pretty enjoyable listen just not the most memorable.
Pure cheese. Which is great at first but you get sick eventually. Almost a 4
Feels a bit like background music at times but is compelling enough to warrant a second listen.
Lacks any real hooks or truly memorable moments, but has a distinctive style/flow.
My feelings about AC/DC are quite complicated (sorry, Dad). There is a definite energy and presence in the band but none of it can undo the sickening monotony of the songwriting. No matter how different or rhythmically intense the riffs get, it feels like the result is always just a mid-tempo rocker.
Very impactful, emotional, etc. But drags on a bit and feels the same thing the whole time: either moody, slow, and loud or moody, slow, and quiet.
1 hour of GarageBand loops.
First Christian Rock album????
Pretty stock 60s-70s rock. Not bad though
Ranges from funky, groovy to jazzy, obnoxious. Superstition is of course a classic though.
Homelesscore
I already knew what i would think of it before I listened to it
Idk I don't really see a lot to like here
Default-ass rock album. Has good moments and ideas
Not really my type of deal idk i liked sexy boy that was the only one i really thought was interesting what is wrong with you people???
Music for edgy emo-adjacent theater kids who smoke weed and use tumblr to pretend they are interesting to
The boring part of prog rock
YYZ is great, but the rest just feels like fairly bland prog rock.
If I wanted to listen to mall music I'd go to a mall.
No hooks, no creative sampling, nothing.
Weird, rambly album with some good moments.
Creative use of sampling and a lot of interesting subject matter here. Not super memorable and a bit too lengthy for my taste, but overall a decent listen.
Perhaps I am the most out-of-touch person in the world, but I don't understand what is so "sexy" about this album?? I understand it is very sex-oriented of course, but are you people really getting bricked up just listening to this thing? Like you could put it on in the background while you're boning I guess and it would fit but then again I personally wouldn't want to have some black guy moaning in my ear while I'm laying pipe but again that's just me to each his own.
Anyway these tracks are very thick, full, dense, or whatever. And he's definitely an interesting fellow. But I can't see myself listening this again. Well, maybe that's just because I'll never get any.
I'll probably regret rating this so highly, but I quite enjoyed this one. Production is clean yet punchy (sounds great) and there are some creative moments & transitions. By far the best electronic album I've gotten yet.
Where do I begin is a stinker though
No thanks.
First album I don't really feel strongly a particular way about. The album can get a bit tiresome and is a bit sluggish, but the dude's talented I guess. May give another listen when I'm in the mood for something sappy.
I want to write this album off as pure unrelenting cheese, but I cannot deny how strong the first two tracks are. I hate ballad Billy Joel, and I despise his signature uptempo corniness, but the intrigue of those first two songs are enough to bring this album up somewhat for me.
The title track's verse sounds like a Ronnie James Dio song????
I read another review describing Billy Joel as a lesser Elton John, and while I've definitely always have agreed with that comparison, I have to say it's just the opposite.
Jimi hendrix is a cool guy
