Interesting album to start with.
Drums are nice.
the chords 😍.
decent grooves throughout.
She loves talking about cigarettes.
Some kinda separate storyline happening
with the intros/outros.
She’s talking directly to herself a lot.
Feels like a lot of foreshadowing, knowing what we know.
In my bed is a vibe musically. A stand out.
I don’t like her voice at all. I tried.
there’s not enough variety. Socially it doesn’t change enough. Even if the music tries to her voice brings it all back.
If you heard anyone singing or humming her songs to themselves it would be cringe as hell.
Surprisingly the lyrical content picks up halfway.
Ok nevermind.
I can’t take “amy amy amy” seriously.
Outro idea is cool. But I wish it would have started with the idea a little more clearly.
Lush and atmospheric out of the gate. Ready to take this journey. “VCR” feels like it was made to be the soundtrack in a movie about new beginnings…ending the song on a minor note is chefs kiss. even when synths and keys come in they feel super natural in the mix. So many other artists I’m hearing in this but I don’t know who inspired who. Tycho, yeah yeah yeahs, Portugal the man, gotye, even lorde. Fantasy is really really cool. Like a reprieve. Really good album but there aren’t enough big moments, I feel like some more dynamics would have taken it to the next level. Very solid tho.
I’m going into this jaded because I have never liked Gorillaz. All in all tho it’s not horrible. I don’t exactly hate it. I do like the beats and the grooves. They kind of lay a decent foundation on every song and then do absolutely nothing with it. “Clint Eastwood” is trash. And what’s with the Thom Yorke cosplay on some of these songs. You can do falsetto without doing his exact voice. I hate all the record scratching too, but it’s fine. I think they invented shopping mall music.
This is just good feel good music. I love that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The game show idea pulls the whole thing together. The delivery on some of the bars are hilarious. When the more serious lyrics come in they feel a bit jarring, but not in a bad way. Some of these songs feel not fully fleshed out but more-so just ideas, which I think is cool and adds sort of a stream of consciousness to it. As soon as I saw Otis Redding feature I knew I’d love it. Yeah, now we’re getting into some heavier themes and I still love it. the playful music and storytelling narratives hides the deepness and darkness of the lyrics.
My 8th grade science teacher used to play this album every day. absolute classic. Nothing bad to say.
Stars just for the album cover. Feels like this album is being played at an underground, smoke-filled bar. I’m vibing with his voice too. This is overall pretty cool. May You Never is so good.
HAHA. I hate this. The 80’s reverbed-out drums make nothing hit hard. He sounds like a frog croaking.
I gotta be honest this looks and sounds awful. I don’t think I have any interest in it at all. There are so many other good southern rock albums to listen to. This is just not it.
Love these beats. Love the bars. So much to like here. So many fusions of styles that always work together. Super influential album.
Nah
Already know I’m glazing this review. I’ve loved this performance since I was a kid. Feels so nonchalant but so beautiful. it’s like seeing another side of nirvana. They’re letting you in on the secret to their success.
Will just watching Priscilla skew my listening experience?? Can’t deny his absolute butter vocals. I wish I could get past caring that he is just a performer and didn’t actually write anything. I love that this is only 32 minutes long tho because Dude is not an album artist.
I LOVE THE GUITARS. no one makes a vibe like them. So avant garde. Who is it? Is a super stand out. Such a cool sound. They always sound like they’re searching for where they’re going in a song.
Not vibing with it at all. But I read the reviews and maybe I have to give it another chance. Tried it and not for me.
Yeahhhh I love this album so much. Been listening to this since I was a kid. Cliche to say, but stairway to heaven is so damn good. crazy that an 8 minute song doesn’t get boring. Love the experimenting in four sticks. You’re lying if you say when the levee breaks isn’t a VIBE. The lyrics are sometimes too layered in metaphor and Tolkien references but whatever I don’t really mind. This is a FIVER for sure.
It’s just not clicking with me. And I wish I did. Because I respect Elton John. I just find myself bored. Tiny dancer is a classic though.
Bro needs to get laid. Its ok. I think I’m supposed to like it more. I thought I’d like it more from the few songs I’ve heard before.
I actually kinda dig this. Opening track is really weird and cool. I like a lot of what they were going for.
So many damn ideas and I feel like none of them last long enough. I respect it tho. Probably wouldn’t come back to this one much. I love the over the top guitars but sometimes they drown everything out.
Love Coldplay. not ashamed about it at all. They are so much better than their perception. Some really classic albums. I kinda think this is one of my least favorite from them though hahaha. That said there are some amazing tracks on it. Politik, God put a smile, clocks are all superb. I think they found their sound on this album but really figured it out on x&y. Still probably a 4.
I think jazz is cool but I’ve never really felt anything significant from it. I don’t hate this, I kind of like it. Moon dreams is really good. the dissonance and eeriness is what makes it shine. as a musician you have to be marveled by the songwriting abilities on this.
While I could see versions of these songs being ok I still don’t like it at all. Maybe in the context of a movie it could work. But nah, not for me.
Damnnnn. Out of the gate loving this.
extremely my shit. Really nice grooves. Some crazy chords going on here too. Love the layered vocals & harmonies. The drums on this thing are so good. Aw man. I just read he was a Lennon hater. Gonna try my best to get through the rest of the album without my complete Beatles bias.
I enjoy a lot of this. I think the ideas and sounds are better than the songs themselves. I can for sure tell they inspired bands like the temper trap and young the giant. the variety is nice. The synthy stuff plays really nice.
Radiohead is my favorite band. Easy 5 all day long. probably the most influential album of my lifetime.
I did not like this at all
I like this enough. Some nice beats and Melodies. I’d probably never listen to it again. But a lot of sample-able stuff on this. I can hear a lottt of things Kanye was inspired by on this. Songs drag on a bit. Good vibes tho.
It’s ok? I don’t love his voice, but it fits alright. I think they mix rock and orchestral stuff pretty good. I’ve never heard anyone make so much variety sound so samesy.
The production on this is really cool. Very jam-bandy and I don’t mind.
Pretty enjoyable. But monotonous and boring.
This is kinda dope. Loving it.
This shit is ass. And it’s a shame Trents work on the social network soundtrack is my favorite work of all time. It’s not that it’s going over my head either. I totally get it. the experimentation is pretty cool but it gets drowned out by nonsense. And his vocals are trash. For some reason I keep thinking of Oakley sunglasses and Nissan Z3s. It’s so damn try-hard, I’m gonna have to try hard to listen to the rest of it. Keep feeling like I’m watching an episode of CSI. I gotta turn this shit on next time I’m hacking a computer. Something something this album sent me down a downward spiral.
Pretty cool. Kinda boring to be honest. I like when they get heavy
Oh yeah. This is great. Love those guitars.
Pretty cool but I would probably never listen to it again
Eh
Hate live albums. This is nice and all but mostly does nothing for me.
Love the sonics. very warm production with some lo-fi mixed in. Guitar tones are great too. Even if the songs meander it doesn’t matter because the music is interesting enough. They really take you somewhere with this one. Poor places is GREAT.
Eh. Don’t love it
Lmao this is hilarious. But it is not good.
Hated it. This list is falling off hard.
A legend. Not necessarily my style but still great.
