U2Poorly timed, messily composed and badly sung. Which is a shame because the messages in the songs are really poignant. I really don't understand why people like U2...

Some absolute classics

Absolute classic. Nothing short of pure genius.
If Roger Waters and David Bowie had a child together, it would be David Byrne. There are a number of extremely good tracks here, but the drugs produced just a little too much filler for this day and age.
A great album but marred but Amy's sadness. You can hear it in her voice making it not as full or vibrant as her first. Hauntingly good, but not her best I think.
Made in a time where music was full of soul... And LSD! Lots and lots of LSD. Despite one or two filler tracks, there is some of the best music ever written right here. Inifitely re-listenable.
I just don't understand what this album is supposed to be. It has so many genres, from Broadway show tunes to lounge jazz and everything in between. They are genres you have to be in the mood for which makes listening to the whole album really difficult. The RnB/soul tracks were actually quite good, but there were only 2 of them. The rest, despite being exceptionally well produced, were messy and chaotic in composure her voice, whilst occasionally very good is also very grating at times. This one was a really tough listen.
Pure and honest. Couldn't listen to the whole album too often, but there's a genuineness that you didn't find from the Beatles stuff.
A most influential album for the American Punk scene. You can hear the origins of so many of the greats, television, Ramones, and early Misfits and Racid can all be heard here. The album is gritty, yet somehow well polished. There's an aggressive undertone that carry through the whole album that satisfies the old punk in me.
Takes me back. Catchy tunes, for the most part, but somewhat monotonous on the theme.
Is it genius, or is Uncle David just having a another series of breakdowns? "He's not feeling well! If it makes him happy you leave him alone!" "Yeah, but it's not even like music. It's like 5 chimps in a room of instruments, half the time." "He's on a lot of pain killers and the music represents how he is feeling." "Well I guess I don't understand Cancer or Music, then do I?" "No! You don't. Now back to your ignorance with you!"
All good music stems from here. Not just modern music, but everything you love from the Beatles all the way to Taylor Swift, it all was born of this. Without Fats and the like we wouldn't have had any of it. And it still gets the old foot tapping.
Absolutely era defining. Nearly 30 years on and this album is just as relevant now as it was then. Every single song still an absolute banger, and not many albums can boast that since the 80s.
If you're in the mood for sickly sweet love, it's the album for you... And your partner, but if you're looking for the stereotypical Wonder vibe, this ain't it. You'll only get it from Superstition on this album, which is actually good enough to carry the whole album... Just not that far. Songs in the Key of Life is what you are really looking for.
I really enjoyed this one. Never heard of them before but it's a huge eclectic mix of music genres. American indie, Prog, Latin American, blues, jazz, electronic. It's a brilliant album and I'll be listening to more of them
Don't know why I have to listen to this before I die. It's not unique, it's not even remotely interesting. The only thing going for it how well produced and engineered it is, so only Music Production students will get anything out of this. It's not bad music, just incredibly bland and forgettable.
A masterpiece of musical creation. This might have got 5 stars if Mike Oldfield hadnt created Tubular Bells 2 and Tubular Bells 2003 which only improve upon this sound. If you enjoyed this then I suggest you check the aforementioned versions but also a Celtic themed album Mike did called Voyager which is, in my opinion, one of the most perfect musical creations ever made.
Senseless noise.
Lady got soul! Not all songs to my liking but that's just personal taste. I don't know any about Nina Simone's life but I feel like she's seen and been through sh*t.
Like John Denver, Jose Gonzales and the Soggy Bottom Boys all had a child (don't ask how that works...) I really really enjoyed it and would probably listen to it again sometime.
I actually enjoyed this immensely. Lots of different sounds in here and you can here how it's influenced many bands after him.
Another banging classic. Needs no more review than that
Not usually one for jazz but this album is smooth and easy and just makes you feel right. Not a jarring disjointed improv'd note to be found.
