Really good music, but not fully fitting to my taste (as of yet). Definitely have to check it out again to dig into the lyrics more, there seems to be quite some hidden meaning in a lot of the songs
Great album. Some songs were familiar of course but also some new stuff.
Not something very special to me. Seemed like typical 80s pop music. Reminded me a lot of huey lewis and the news.
Liked it quite a bit. Hadn't really listened to Elton John before that much, so it's something new
Liked especially on this album: "the Ballad of Danny Bailey" and "All the girls love Alice"
Interesting, experimental music. Maybe in a different setting it would work better for me than it did now (I listened at the train station)
Its pretty good music. Just not really my thing. For me a 2 star, but looking at it from a purely musical standpoint I'd give it 3 or 4 stars
Nostalgic sound to me, from my mom's music (although it's a different album). I like it, but it's also quite sad music. I like the instrumentals, and the sound of the lead singer's voice.
Again, good, but not my thing really
Great, love Nelson's voice. Evocative way to tell a story. The continuous use of similar themes and motifs is interesting from a story telling and artistic perspective, although the listening experience becomes slightly repetitive because of it
Pretty standard '60s rock, nothing special really. I like the sound musically, but do not really connect with it's particular vibe of missing the old times, since it's the old time values that are least important to me that they reminisce about
Favorite tracks: Village Green Preservation Society, Big Sky, Picture Book.
Album art: Cool band photo, love the swirly neon colors.
I like it a lot. Reminded me somewhat of MinasCumPraia, which was portuguese music that I did already know, as opposed to this album.
favorite tracks: some of the album is quite calm, mellow music. I liked the more upbeat songs the best, like "Nada Será Como Antes", "Saídas E Bandeiras", "Tudo O Que Voce Podia Ser"
album cover: interesting to read that actually, the photo does not depict the two main artists as kids. The kids were however identified around the album's 40th anniversary... cool
Interestingly put together album. All the tracks are very different from one another, both in composition, duration and vibe
favorite tracks: "Walk on by", "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic", "One Woman". Basically I liked most of the songs, but the nearly 20 minute long track By the time I get to phoenix didn't work for me. For most of this track Isaac is just talking.
album cover: interesting to compare to some of his other album covers and see the difference. Some of the covers have a very "gangster rap" vibe to them, while others look very different. The album cover made me expect very different music than what I got.
Love this! The album really has this improvised, garage rock feel to it, seeing how the album seems to just be a collection of some randomly selected songs, with varying lengths and vibes
Favorite tracks: Born on the Bayou, Good Golly Miss Molly, Proud Mary
Album art: doesn't speak to me very strongly. Simple enough and it works, but it doesn't feel like there is much artistic expression speaking from the image.
Not super into this, although I might get back to this once in a while to try something new...
Different point of view and dreaming of the queen were soundtrack to me accidentally blowing Cajun spices into my eyes while trying to smell them while cooking....
Something about this music that intrigues me, even though I'm not sure that I like it...
Pretty good stuff!
Favourite Tracks: "Sleeping Gas", "Second Head"
Very good, atmospheric. Definitely will listen to this more.
No favorite songs in particular. The whole album should be listened as a whole I think
Whatever I was expecting before putting it on, it wasn't this. It's basically Celtic folk, and I love that. Although not great to put on at any occasion, I'm definitely up for this music sometimes...
Favourite songs: have to get back to this to listen more closely
What I would expect from Rolling Stones. More something to have on in the background if I feel like bluesy rock and roll
Meh...
Yes! I really love this, although it's definitely only for the experimental mood
Favorite tracks: "Cannibal Resource", "Two Doves", "Useful Chamber"
An interesting album. Somehow poppy and very experimental at the same time...
Favorite tracks: "In France they kiss on Main Street", "The Jungle Line", "Harry's House/Centrepiece"
Punky, alternative indie rock. It's great!
Favorite track: Just put on the whole album
Feeling somewhat grunge rock inspired to me, I like this album quite a bit.
The tracks featuring Thom Yorke "Beautiful Feeling" and "This mess we're in", deserve special mention, as these create such a strong interplay between their voices, I love it!
Favorite tracks: "Big Exit", "You said something" and both Thom Yorke features
Motörhead is great!
Favorite tracks: Ace of Spades, Iron Horse
Its good
Favorite tracks: "Lost ones" and "Everything is Everything"
Very cool idea, to make an album like this that shares knowledge of the music it is portraying...
Cool
Favorite tracks: Luck of Lucien, I left my wallet in El Segundo
pretty cool
It's interesting but not super into the vocals...
Doubted between giving 2 or 3 stars. If I could I would say 2,5
Favorite Tracks: "Connected", "Creation"
Phenomenal
Whole album is amazing. "Pyramid Song" still stands out to me
Wonderful! I want to see these guys perform live some day.
