1001 Albums Summary

Favorite Track: Don’t Forget About Me Archetypical Philly Soul string and horn arrangements, should be called Dusty in the City of Brotherly Love. Never knew Dusty was British, can imagine that in ‘69 a white woman from London putting out a banger of a soul/motown album had people shook.

Favorite: You’re Good for Me Early Philadelphia soul, appreciate that in context of ‘64 this was probably pretty rockin’ and soulful but pretty forgettable against the test of time.

Forced quirkiness and an attempt at lofi without really committing. Checking alt boxes without really doing anything authentically or really well.

This album just makes me feel kind of anxious but I dig it, industrial alt-prog? By end of the album felt a little Radiohead fatigue. Not the easiest listening but fascinating and jarring.

Hectic and exhausting

Vibey - great album just to zone out and chill. Love the tension throughout, a testament to not needing the nauseating peak gluttony of modern EDM

Exceptional guitar tones - this era of Coldplay is bussing.

Not my favorite era of Ray Charles but at least interesting to listen to more big band type arrangements prior to the funk and soul.

Slam poetry shock rock

Classic

Such a unique vocal timbre - a mysteriously floaty delivery. Raw and elegant with solid arrangements and song writing.

Velvet Underground cover was pretty good - but Femme Fatale is just not the same without Nico’s pronunciation of “clown” - otherwise pretty forgettable.

Very vibey

The parts I liked would be a solid 4 but some parts veered into hard in the ears territory so had to average it out to a 3. Too gritty at points.
