beeeeeeetllleeeees in the bog La la la la la la
Half of the album sounded like the same song, although that song is pretty good so I'm not complaining. First 4 songs are fire, album drops a touch after that but it's still pretty good. Also Jake is NOT Johan Liebert.
Had an album review made but it got deleted :sad face:
This is reverse-triggering my autism. Like I'm not even joking it has certain reverse-triggering noises for me I really like the sound of this. I'll listen to the rest of it because I'm not already checking out at 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' cuz this song specifically goes hard. Rest of it seems to be pretty good.
wowie zowie, this just might be the best music I've ever heard in my life!! (I didn't type this idk where it came from)
Mfs really said "lets make a concept album" with no concept of what they were doing (idk if it is a concept album but it must be because of the goofy ahh songs they have on here)
Had some nice songs but didn't care for most of it.
Really liked it, drug on a bit too long though. Initial thoughts were that it felt ahead of its time, although ig I forgot that soul/jazz music existed. Also who does bro think he is making a 3 part song split up across the album, Pink Floyd???
Okay, didn't really care for it much. Looking back, I definitely rated Eliminator and Led Zeppelin too highly, Led Zeppelin is a 3 and Eliminator might be a 2, didn't really have my sense of scale figured out but oh well
All the songs blended together into a just okay smoothie, although there was still some small chunks of unique sounding songs in that smoothie that were pretty good.
More like 3.5 Really liked Tom Sawyer and YYZ Very unique sound
so fire that it's burning down the house!!!!!
Really good album, maybe more like a 4.5 or 5, although it wasn't 100% my type of of music, if that makes sense? Don't care to make track reviewsππππ
Low 4, maybe better than Marvin Gaye, worse than Sheer Heart Attack and Cyndi Lauper Tall in the Saddle was the most notable for me, although the others are really good.
he looks so happy π
Brighton Rock is the most goofy track of all time at first, but pops off once you get to know it Killer Queen is the bomb!!!! Tenement Fuster I don't care for but it still pretty good Flick of the Wrist is really good, very notable Lap of the Gods is also goofy ahh at first but then it pops off, the revisited version is also pretty cool then a lot of the album isn't really notable but I still like it enough to give it a 4 overall
Kinda fire, drags on way too long though. Waterfall is an absolute banger
Bro waht is this :skull: not conpletely unlistenable
1969, more like 1984!!!!!! iggy slop
I despise the way that he stretches single syllables out for multiple syllables, makes it sound so jarring A lot of the instrumentals are nice though, and it's not all bad better than a certain velvety album
spotify really hit the screw with the nail when they described them as "A group whose distinctly ethereal and gossamer sound virtually defined the enigmatic image of the record label 4AD." Music is so ethereal you would think it exhausts if it was left in your hand at the end of your turn (only real slay the spire G's will get that one) still pretty good, probably 3.5, really liked tracks 1, 4, 5, and 10

If albums were food, this would be a cookbook printed in latin with every recipe torn out, that still manages to cook The deep lyrics of Underground rock, song goes galactic Tom waits voice is so marvellous that he makes yapping songs sound good Out of the "albums that sound goofy but probably have some artistry going on" this is the most interesting to listen to I'd give it a 3 on the basis that he's cooking (silently) ehat jake said
Does the carpet match the drapes? Nay. Came in expecting emo rock, instead received emU2. Really liked the sound, almost like a mix between Cocteau Twins and U2. Did drag on too damn long though, felt like it had already been an hour by the 5th song, and then it actually went on for an hour. Still kinda fire, albeit extremely repetitive
I remember playing just dance to funky soul brother at my friend's house when I was 6, song goes hard I must commemorate Fatboy Slim's artistry, and give him props for his achievement of making the first song that was so bad I had to skip it, and then he made another on the same album Real rating is a 2, I just want to give him a 1 because Fatboy Slims is fucking in heaven
Live music haters when Peter Frample stops singing so the crowd can say "Is by your side": Loved this album, and they even had a cover of my favvvvourite part 6 fight, Jumping Jack Flash!!! Ig the live music made it a bit worse quality, but the crowd is my g High 4 Also he made the original "Baby I love your way," (also the best track) but then some mfs made a cover and that's the more popular version. lah-my-owh
what jake said although I probably liked the music parts with the harmonica a little more maybe 2.51
Was a vibe, maybe 3.5?? Rip it Up and I Can't Help Myself were really good Hokoyo was groovy but the lyrics/vocals are cooked
what jake said minus the meh
Liked it as background music, but didn't care for it too much. Ipanema was really good.
Hit and run raper in anger song is good trust jake is a monkey man who can't always get what he wants
This is in fact, music. Maybe 2.5 There are some parts that pop off, mainly in the choruses when the vocals and instruments actually harmonize, although the rest of it sounds very cacophonous. It's like The Stone Roses, except the vocals get drowned out and aren't clear. It's also like Cocteau Twins, except it's like chunky peanut butter instead of smooth. (although chunky peanut butter is better so this analogy doesn't work)
Funky kong type beat Track reviews: Chameleon - Pretty funky, cool motif throughout Watermelon Man - tribal ahh???? The didgeridoo or whatever was integrated pretty well. Worst track, but not far behind. Sly: Best track on the record imo, really liked how it was able to contain everything it had going on at the end (unlike some certain street preachers) and tie it all together in the finale Vein Melter: Slower vibe was a nice way to ease back in from the album's narrative climax in Sly and round off the album Also the beetle fella on the album cover looks like if hollow knight nailsmith was a jojo stand. Maybe he just looks like a jojo stand. On the higher end of the "high-quality background music ergo 3" gang.
Wowie Zowie, I'm Not Satisfied after this one! My biggest issue with this album is that it sounds very dated, and just doesn't hold up, much like The Stooges, and with some songs on Led Zeppelin. It's hard to tell exactly what makes it feel dated/not hold up, especially when older artists like Frank Sinatra hold up quite well, although I think it's a combination of that unclear, blurry, "garage rock" sound that sounds like they ran their guitar amp through an television missing it's antennas; the jumbled, drawling vocals that simultaneously drown out, and are drowned out by the instruments; and the yap-congested, obscene lyrics sung by someone who took singing lessons from SimplyPiano, and I'm not just talking about that one guy, it's all of them. (CREAM CHEESE!!!! π£οΈπ£οΈπ₯π₯) On that note, the one "inbred guy" (Reich, 2024) on the vocals sounds like a deeply QuΓ©bΓ©cois homme qui chantant en Anglais. It's not all bad though, there are some good tracks, even the bad tracks are kind of a jam, and the most notable track, "Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder," doesn't contain any of the aforementioned issues.
Child in Time was the only notable song for me, rest of the album was enjoyable, although I could never see myself returning to this, although it is pretty groovy. Low 3
I would be a god-forsaken sin-filled liar if I said I was a huge fan of Country Music, although Creedwater Clearance Resuscitation strikes a nice balance with their country/rock sound that is literally and figuratively music to my ears. Gotta turn it up for Bad Moon Rising, which is one of their most popular songs, although like herding sheep, you can't neglect Green River, Wrote a Song For Everyone, and The Night Time is the Right Time, as some other notable tracks. As an aside, the last two tracks sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin's debut album (in a good way), they did release in the same year, and are probably both quite defining of that time period.
Maybe 2.5? No notable tracks, kinda bland sounding, although I did enjoy listening to it. I read a lot of the reviews, some of the ones that aren't attacking his character just say that the music is bland and depressive, point is that he can't function without the rest of The Smiths. idk, don't care for this album at all, although it's probably better than some other albums I've given a 3. Am I going to go adjust everything down because it feels like everything approaches 3 as x limits to infinity? idk
The general sound is pretty good, although that's really all this album has going for it since every song kinda melts together into a lump of goo. The lyrics are yap, but aren't the focal point of the songs so it doesn't bother me too much. "Mildred Pierce" is atrocious, although it is the only bad song. The album does fall off after it, although I still enjoyed the last 4 songs. The part of "Dirty Boots" where they say "Dirty Boots" a lot is the most notable track.
Captures the country sound without coming on too strong with it. (contrast this idea with something like "Banjo Odyssey" by The Dead South-don't listen to that, it's awful). Creates a nice balance with Folk Rock. There's a couple bangers on here, most notably "Nobody Girl" and "Gonna Make You Love Me More." The other side of this though, is that there 80 minutes of bland, repetitive, generic country/pop/folk rock in here. I can't find it in myself to care for most of this album, especially for songs like "Wildflowers." The other interesting thing is that he proves that he can sing in some songs ("Where the Stars are Blue"), but then he maintains a shaky voice for most of the album that takes away from the music when the focus is his vocals. If he cut out half of this album it would be a 3, maybe it's still a 2.5. It is competent music after all, I just can't care for it.
Would listen to this as background music, Scarborough fair is an absolute banger, there were some other bangers in there as well. Definitely very talented so I'll give them the jump to 4, I also enjoyed it a lot more than other backgroundy albums
What jake said Once in a Lifetime might be one of my favourite songs of all time (top 25 at the very least)
first song restored my faith in humanity π π Album had a really nice sound, but did get a little mind-numbing after a while. Would probably be better if they cut the worst 30 minutes. Definitely enjoyed the first half more than the second half, especially after the last track had SIX MINUTES OF SILENCE, and then a "secret track" (which was awful). "Bro thought they were cooking with that one!!" -in talha's voice I do really like the first half though, Bitter Sweet Symphony was the best track, Sonnet, The Drugs Don't Work (I kept hearing "The Trucks Don't Work"), Catching That Butterfly, Space and Time, and Lucky Man were the most notable tracks.
pleasant
Vocals are off putting but grew on me, they were kinda cooking near the end of the album Still pretty good though
went kinda hard, can't care to write more also Modern Lovers was meant to be a 2 π
First song was funny but unlistenable "ants love it"?????? Skipped ahead to another song, genuinely painful, whatever Jake felt when listening to Cyndi Lauper I think I feel here
Tracks are somewhat indistinguishable from each other, although album does go hard. What Jake said πππ
AND THE NEXT ALBUM AND THE NEXT AND ANOTHER ALBUM π£οΈπ£οΈπ£οΈπ₯π₯π₯π₯ Really enjoyed this album, I only half-listened to "Heroes" (album not song) while in call and gave it a 3, assuming that that rating is accurate, this one was much better. Bowie has a great voice, and the music lets him shine while also going hard. Great sound. Notable tracks: The Next Day - best track, banger, lyrics probably have some deep meaning Dirty Boys - cool riff Boss Of Me - the saxophone in this song could beat could beat up Stan Getz in a fight Dancing out in Space - groovy How Does The Grass Grow? - did he take inspiration from My Singing Monsters with this one? (yes it came out before the album)
Someone in global said "something a rat might here when trying cheese and grapes together" (5) This is not the Ratatouille ost lil bro!!!!! Anyways, spectacular album, both absolute bangers, without a doubt the best jazz I've ever heard, and I'd probably say it's tied with some songs from Brothers in Arms for the best background-type music I've ever heard. Manages to be calming and engaging at the same time, it will enthral you if you give it enough attention, but it will also gently embrace your ears if you focus your mind elsewhere. Beautiful Album. Also a jojo reference so we'll move it up from a 2 to a 5.
this mf ripped a leitmotif off of the hit song "The Rain Formerly Known as Purple" from the Risk of Rain 2 ost!!!!! Tremendously good, each song has so much going on, yet it stays crisp and fresh. Great use of the synthesizer, legendary guitar solos, incredible singing (even when he uses his signature Prince wail). I had only heard "When Doves Cry", "Purple Rain", and "Soft and Wet" from Prince before. I assumed that those were some of his biggest hits, and that the rest of his music was lacklustre, although after a full album I understand why he gets the acclaim that he does.
Stairway to heaven goes unimaginable, almost caved into the peer-pressure from myself and gave it a 5, but then I realized that I don't actually care for the rest of the album! Rest of the album was pleasant to listen to, although if it was on some less-highly-regarded band from the 60s-70s then I'd probably give it a low 4. I've defined a 4 for myself as an album that I'd willingly put on time-to-time. I do this a lot with She's So Unusual (Cyndi Lauper) and Let It Bleed, and have a bit with Brother Darkness. Other 4s are a lot more just more high-quality artistry that I enjoyed, and that's about where I'd place this album (Stairway as the exception, that's a 6) To sum up the rest, Misty Mountain Hop popped off, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and When the Levee Breaks (global reviews glaze this track) were pretty good, although nothing spectacular. Going to California and Battle of Evermore were really good as well, didn't care for Four Sticks much.
