So sweet and warm. That’ll Be the Day is a perfect pop song. You can hear how he laid the groundwork for bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Holly’s voice is full of so much character and charisma. Love it.
Undeniably entertaining listen. I don’t know if it’s just me but i wish the mixing had a more heavy sound? For an album that’s trying so hard to sound heavy and badass, it kind of sounds flat. And I know everyone shits on Lars’ drumming, but it really does get old after an hour straight of it.
I gotta stop reading the user reviews on this website. Like what are you even doing here if something like this is too much for you. Anyway it’s really good.
“And You and I.” Amazing.
Wow. I’ve always loved their hits, but never got into a full album until now. Pretty much perfect from start to finish. Infectious singing, beautiful melodies. Hard hitting and punchy instruments. You can hear the entirety of 90’s rock that was to follow in this album. A new favorite. Cannot wait to listen to the rest of their albums.
Still sounds fresh every single time I hear it. Even some of the lesser songs add to the surreal vibes of the album as a whole. I’m always blown away by how perfectly it flows from song to song, always throwing something new at you, always staying fresh. 30 songs, many of which have a claim of being some of the best rock and pop songs ever written. God it’s so good.
Love it. Some truly stunning moments on here, really infectious vibes. Thank God it’s Not Christmas is a favorite. Can’t wait to listen to more Sparks.
One of my favorites.
Is this the White Album of punk rock? Insanely creative, plays around with so many different genres and styles and it all works. It flows perfectly and never gets old even with the long runtime. Every song hits hard, and sounds amazing. Loved it.
God, this just goes so hard. That harmonica is like a buzzsaw. And Muddy Waters is such a charismatic presence, how could you not love this?
So close to being a perfect 5. So many stunning moments, but it’s just missing something to really push it over the edge, I don’t know what it is. But when I’m listening to those first three songs I’m in heaven. Perfect sad road trip vibes.
