I wasn’t a huge fan. I did like the use of stereo and making it sound like the music was all over the room, and sometimes circling you… but overall I give it 4.7/10
I guess I just don’t like messy electric guitar solos. But after hearing some of John Mayer’s covers of these songs, I just can’t listen to the original and like it as much or more… sorry Jimmy, John did it better IMO.
My score is 3/5
Has a couple great songs. Constant left and right panning of the keyboard on a lot of songs kind of bothered me at times. Superstition is probably in my top 25 songs of all time, so tough to give this album a 3, but overall it was just ok, with like 3 really good songs.
Top songs:

I like about 3 songs on this album but they’re not like AMAZING. And the bad songs are real bad, so I gotta give this one a 2/5
Honestly… not great. Temptations have a lot of hits and this had one of them, and it’s my least favorite (Papa was a rolling stone).
So I mean… pretty low score from me. Just thought it was boring. It sounded like if you had an album with 2 good songs and you skip a bunch of the other songs to get to the good songs… this album was entirely made up of the other songs 1.75/5 ⭐️
So I’ll round up and give it 2 stars.
Giving it 2.75 / 5 so I’ll round up to 3 stars.
Nothing special. Idk what makes this one of the greatest albums of all time.
It’s fine… but I wasn’t blown away by any of the tracks.
Boring. And his voice bothered me.
Other than Roundabout this album wasn’t very good. I’d give it like a 1.5 so I’ll round up and give it a reluctant 2 :/
Faith, Father Figure, and Look at your Hands are all good. The rest not my cup O tea.
Holy shit this is bad. I’m not British so maybe that’s why I hate this. It sounds like an American trying to make fun of a British accent while rapping over extremely repetitive beats and melodies. Top 10 least favorite albums I’ve ever heard. Was a struggle to get through and thank god I’m done with it. I would give it 0/5 if I could, but I can't so a very very LOW 1 star.
Not my thing. Sloppy guitar, awful singing. I get they were ahead of their time or whatever and a very influential band but I just don’t enjoy listening to this. I’m not a lyrics person. Give me a good melody over lyrics 10/10 times and this album had 0 good melodies. Probably won’t ever listen to joy division again. Album cover is iconic though.
1.3/5 so gotta round down to 1 star

Eh, pretty boring. Saw him live once and was not impressed. Crazy talented bassist but he plays it so crazily and all over the place it just sounds like if someone picked up a bass and moved their hands all over the place while plucking as many strings as possible as fast as they could.
Only a couple good ones on this album, so 2.3/5 rounding down to a 2

I liked this album a lot, but I think the songs I liked and the songs I disliked were on far ends of their respective spectrums. Peg was my favorite song on here.
80s new wave garbage. All the songs sound the same and the singers voice bothers me.
👎🏻
This one gets a 2.5
Some of it is cool and has good guitar. But most of it is meh.
I liked one song the rest was not great. I don’t like his voice. When he does the raspy thing… it sounds very forced.
If I was rating this just on guitar, it’d get a 3, but his singing ruins a lot of the songs.

Just ok. Pretty forgettable. 🤷🏻♂️
Each song is kind of the same droning guitar riff over and over and over and over and over and then there’s some western African singing over top of that.
It’s not like… awful to listen to. It’s good for when I’m working or something. Or if you were running you could keep a good pace with the tempo of the songs. But nothing really stuck with me. And I feel like this album is only on this list because it’s a very influential artist. The album itself didn’t really feel like anything all that magnificent.

That was the longest 42 minutes of my life.
Literally hurt my ears. Whoever mixed this album shouldn’t be able to touch a mixing board ever again.
3/5

Sonic youth is not good… I’m sorry. It’s like a bunch of people got together and just strummed chords and made a bunch of shitty sounds and someone read poetry and had 0 concern for how it sounded.
⭐️
Pretty bad… first song was alright the rest sucked.
Not my thing… 🤷🏻♂️

Not great… Transylvania was a decent song but overall not a fan. I don’t love old metal albums. The distortion just sounds bad compared to what I’m used to… not much they can do about that, I just don’t like it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Disco album. Had a few catchy songs. I liked Le Freak, I Want your love, and Happy Man. The rest was alright. Funny bone was kind of annoying with all the stupid laughing, but it had a really good baseline. So I wish the laughing didn’t exist… that is all.
⭐️⭐️
It’s fine… starts strong but dies off real quick. Probably won’t ever listen again.
2 songs in… can tell this one sucks. DNF. 1 star. I can’t stand this type of singing or instrument playing. It feels like the artists are just TRYING to be artsy. Or like if someone learned guitar and 1 year later started a band and was like, “we’re so good and so cool everyone listen to us.” And then their popular friends were like YEAH OMG ITS SO GOOD! EVERYONE LISTEN TO IT. And everyone pretends to like it bc they think it’s cool to do so. But deep down everyone knows it’s dog shit.
