Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
The Flaming LipsI have listened to this album when I was teenager. Yoshimi Battles is a classic song although I have never loved it. I really enjoyed One More Robot though.

I quite enjoyed it, particularly O My God. Mother reminded me a bit of Talking Heads. The songs on the album after Every Breath You Take all had more listens on Spotify - I wondered if that's just because they get auto-played afterwards :P I probably wouldn't listen to it again
I have always loved this album so had a big smile on my face when I saw it come up today! Weird to listen to it on headphones though with the v. weird old school mix designed for mono speakers.
I remember listening to this in my room in Bexhill when I was about 16 and was kind of blown away.
So many long songs! I quite liked one song and was going to save it on Spotify but it went on for 9 mins...way too long.
Absolutely love the opening track The Suburbs - gave me a lot of nostalgia. First saw Arcade Fire in a tiny Reading Tent in 2005.
I can see how this was considered a ground breaking record since it was a departure from his previous style and had a lot of experimental arrangements. Not for me overall though - my favourite track was 16 Shells From A 30.6, that one got saved.
Really not for me. I can appreciate her voice is pretty remarkable but it didn’t do it for me. I did enjoy the way it was recorded in the nightclub though - felt a bit like I was there at times.
Really loved it. Can’t believe I’d never heard of him.
I liked the first track. Rings Around The World felt really chaotic for me - it may have been the mood I am in. I have found the entire album a bit aggravating, I can't quite put my finger on why.
Funky.
It was fine, but nothing particularly stood out! It was quite nice background music. I listened to a couple of their most played songs from other records, Midnight Rider and Ramblin' Man, as I wondered if I'd recognise them...but I didn't!
Not for me.
I REALLY enjoyed this. Favourite track was Mansion on the Hill. Bit sad I won’t be going to Glasto to see him now!
Reminded me of Led Zeppelin vines in some ways. Wasn't for me but didn't hate it.
I enjoyed this, Sandy Denny had an incredible voice. Read a lot about their history and the terrible accident that killed a member of the band and that led to this album. Particularly liked Come All Ye, Matty Groves
Reminded me of Fairport Convention that I had today. Also just gave me Wicker Man vibes. Weird mix (given 60s) with lyrics in left speaker only.
I have never liked Bjorks voice sadly. I like quite a few Icelandic artists but she’s not my vibe.
So this was super cool (or at least unexpected, the front cover reminded me of some kind of 70s or 80s band so was expecting that). Reminded me a bit of Bonobo - and then also Massive Attack and also the first Matrix movie (think it came out around the same time as that, think there maybe were some tracks in the movie or the soundtrack that are similar).
Some good tracks on this, although didn't like the ones in French. Think I saw at Glasto a few years back. Was nice to hear something more modern.
Like a Rolling Stone is good, I think I always thought it was by the Rolling Stones - oops. I can see why Bob Dylan is very popular but it’s the same reason I’ve never loved the Rolling Stones - just don’t love that vibe and also the harmonica too.
Not at all what I was expecting from Eno - not for me.
I had no idea Blitzkrieg Pop was by the Ramones. I thought it was by a British band. It reminds me a lot of the indie I used to listen to in the mid/late 2000s. I guess that's why they are so influential? Given this was 30 years earlier!
Great album that gave me a llot of nostalgia but unfortunately gone completely off him with recent behaviour.
I do like some blues and this was great, a great vibe. Probably wouldn't listen to again specifically but I did enjoy it while getting through my to do list this evening!
Feels like classic 90s rock. Didn't hate it.
Reminds me a bit of Tom Waits. Quite enjoyed it, very weird. Didn't save any tracks though.
What is it with these 1960s albums and their weird headphones mixes?! They have some absolute tunes though: Monday, Monday, California Dreamin'... basically sounds like the Beatles.
Felt like I was really there in a bar. I think it helped I listened to it on my Sonos speakers in my room while the sunset and I planned my week ('tis Sunday night).
Not something I'd listen to again in a hurry but it kept me moving! I didn't hate it!
Extraordinarily cool and funky.
One of those albums where you just can't help but SMILE when you see it come up. Haven't listened to it end-to-end in years, but it's so good.
