4/5 this album caused stan culture I wasn't even 16 yet when the album came out. VIVA/MTV were still a thing and they played The Real Slim Shady all the time of course. The album itself has a *very* different vibe, notably because that song was only written to be a single after the LP was finished. Imagine you expect something like that on album length and then the first track is Kill You. 💀 Well it was the earliest 2000s possible and we were middle-schoolers, as such the lyrics didn't cause more than probably a few raised eyebrows, 25 years later (and with the 20/20 of hindsight) it’s clear how much of it is played just for shock value. "Very much a product of its time" as they say. Good production, good flow, pretty raw performances. This is a certified hood classic.
I'm too pleb for this
several bangers on this will never not love any rendition of Grapevine, although the 11 minute version is really stretching it (haha) 4/5
to be fair he was in his early 20s
eh
this is the good stuff
maybe 3.5 Björk's influence is undeniable, and some of these tracks don't feel over 30 years old. But man some feel like you try to listen to them and you just can't.
banger after banger after banger
"Let meeeeeee entertai-" no thanks, I'm good.
that's all folks
this was nice
Keep the Streets Empty for Me gets mentioned as the highlight in several reviews and rightfully so. Not everything on the album matches that high and even that track is a bit too long for my taste, but nonetheless a really cool album. Rounded up 3.5/5.
