It’s alright and good bars, but when the song starts you know the same 2 bar loop you’re going to hear for the next four minutes.
They brought the energy and there’s a lot going on in the lyrics. I could see why this is a classic, but most of the songs get stale long before they end.
Well put together project
Some songs are bangers
Hated it at first, then I started to like it so i had to relisten to the beginning of the album to see if i was missing something, but i wasn't. Seems like some songs would be great for a walk in the woods or a campfire, but otherwise, a lot of the album is pretty boring.
THAT SAID, there were some great lyrics, and great instrumentation. The songwriting on some songs I'm excited to go back to. Definitely a well put together piece of work either way, but I'm not sure that I'll return to it much at all. Maybe a few songs like Day is done, The Thoughts of Mary Jane, Man in a shed, and Fruit Tree.
It was good. Amy Winehouse without the flair. The instrumentation was good and the song writing was good. Not super memorable but I’ll probably go back to it
Honestly had me laughing at some parts with how corny some of it is especially towards the beginning. I really think that if they got rid of the organ for a lot of tracks, it would be a lot better. Some of it feels like its the warmup routine backing track for a circus. Other tracks are vibes though, but overall, I wouldn't say that I'm converted to being a fan yet
This album is amazing. Best collection of the Stones music that I've heard so far. The energy is at 100 on every track, and the songwriting and instrumentation is consistently awesome with great songwriting and performances. A little too long maybe with some songs that just weren't up to par with the other 2 thirds of the album, but that's my only gripe.
- Great album
Great album! Finally an album that feels like I've been missing out by not having heard yet. While I don't really like the singer's voice and some of the songs aren't exactly my cup of tea, it was an awesome listen to a solid collection of very well put together experimental songs. The name fits the vibe for sure.
Awesome album. Happy discovering this band. They sound like king gizzard from 1980 and the album was fresh and unique. Great vibes and I’m surprised I’ve never heard of them. Loved it
Solid album. It's very unique and full of life and energy. Some really good tracks on here, and some that I was more indifferent to. Great playing, and the vocals were fun and lively. Solid album, and definitely a great work
Interesting album. I really liked some moments, but not a lot of songs in full. Singer was alright, but the highlight for me was the guitar and bass parts. Good songs, but it definitely lost my interest before halfway through
Weird one for sure. Wasn't really a fan, but i would be interested to hear some of her newer stuff potentially. I like the craziness of it, but it feels like the songs aren't really ones that I would turn on much myself
Amazing Album. Super chill, perfect for a drive through the trees.
She's a great singer and a songwriter that keeps you guessing 24/7. Not being able to expect what's coming, it's easy to get lost in the melody roller coaster of her singing and the constantly changing picture that's being painted.
This album was really awesome. Awesome songwriting and she has a great voice. Sounds inspired by Joni Mitchell a little bit with the singing style. Really great guitar parts and keyboard parts. Tall in the Saddle is definitely my favorite on the album. that song was incredible. I could definitely see myself returning to this quite a bit. I love the cozy vibes. Were there a few songs that dragged a bit, sure. But the better songs make up for it and then some. The lyrics were great too
I liked it, but it didnt real stand out to me as anything memorable. Cool rock vibes though. Probably only a song or two that I was really feeling, the rest of it was just okay.
Very unique album. Super strange at times. I liked some aspects of it quite a bit. The 80's ballad vibes were pretty peak on a few songs, especially the first 2. The album kind of transformed at song 5 waking the witch for the better. Even songs I wasn't crazy about I enjoyed listening to. It was a real rollercoaster, and I enjoyed the production, singing, and subject matter. Overall cool album, and I'd heard the name but definitely never heard any of her music. This was a fun one
Shouldn't be on this list at all in my opinion. Never heard someone sing about roads so much in my entire life. Some moments were pretty good, but there isn't even one song that I really liked through and through.
Very mid album
Fun listen for sure. Great grooves and smooth, soulful blues. Theres nothing not to love here.
it's hard to review this as all one project. This project feels all over the place in a great way. Sometimes, it feels a little overkill with the weird vocals, but overall, it has some awesome instrumentals and great guitar parts as well. It feels wrong to review this one after just one listen. Some of the lyrics are awesome, and I like the overall themes and message. This album makes me really wish there was a 3.5 option. but I'll round up because of how unique it was, and how much i did like a few of the songs.
First I've heard of the group even though I've definitely seen the "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" album while crate digging.
It caught me completely off guard. Loved this and I'm shocked I haven't heard more about this band. I'm definitely gonna be coming back to many of the songs on this album. I think it has some points that are for sure higher than others. I think this should've been only 8 or 9 songs. Not because I was tired of it by the time it was over, but some of the songs held it down a little I think. At around song 9 I was ready to give the album 5 stars, but there were a few songs later that didn't hook me in the same way the entire first half did.
Loved the soulfulness throughout. The instrument choices and parts are consistently awesome and never leave me wanting more or less. Excited to hear more of them
Sounds like a mario kart soundtrack audition that didn't make the cut to be the actual mario kart soundtrack. I kinda think it'd be better without the vocals, but it was alright. The jazzier parts were kinda fire. This is the ultimate Yacht Rock. Dude on the sax is a lil nasty tho I'll give him that. I don't think the album cover helps their case.
Kinda feels like these guys heard the smiths and thought "These Smiths guys are onto something here, but what if we swapped out the instrumental with the Donkey Kong soundtrack".
Jokes aside though, they're great musicians on the instruments, and some of the songs have great grooves, but again. The vocals steal the show often in a way that doesn't make the song better.
I'm somewhere between a 2 and a 3 on this one. Was a fun listen.
Great Beat tape. some really solid beats that I could see 90's rappers bodying. Gets a bit redundant due to some song lengths without much changing in some beats, but I feel like you could say the same for almost any beat tape. And the range of styles between songs is great as well. Smooth Stuff
I did like this quite a lot. It definitely had some standouts that I'll be returning to, but there were a few that felt just not too great to me or straight up boring. At the end of the day I do like and appreciate the classic Rolling Stone sound you get on basically the entire album, and feel like this is something that people should listen to, but some of the songs are not too memorable at all for me.
Great Album. I wish it wasn't so long, but I think it has some of George's best songs. I love most of it, and am surprised with how much range it has in the last quarter of it. Great guitar parts and solos throughout with solid songwriting
I liked this a lot. Great easy listening vibes with nice and nostalgic writing. Album doesn't take itself so seriously and definitely has some catchy tunes. I'll be back for a few of them from time to time
Not exactly my cup of tea, but it was cool and educational. Maybe I'll throw it on with an incense or some shit some day
Beautiful Album. I really love this album. It incorporates massive and beautiful production with warm saturated synth bases and gritty basses with simple and well placed vocals with beautiful lyrics that come across as very organic, and genuine. The drums are hard hitting and solid throughout the album. I love this album very much. It's a psychadelic ride through nostalgia that leads you through a daydream and leaves you closer to your self.
Cool Album. I really like the drums bass and guitar throughout the whole album. The guitar solos were solid. Simple, yet it didn't leave me wanting more. At some moments the vocals weren't adding too much to the songs, but then other times it fit perfectly. I like the album as a whole and added about half of the songs. This is a real ride your bike home from a high school party in some British countryside kind of album.
Cool album, some really good sampling on this with good beats that make you want to hit up a disco club in GTA 4 and bust a move or two. I didn't love every song, but I liked about half of them a lot.
I like the 8bit feel of a lot of it and overall the album is really solid. I've never heard of this guy or this album. Another solid find in the 1001 album crate dig.
The album closer was great and this album has a very fresh feel that you could tell the artist was having a lot of fun making it.
This one took me off guard. Usually I wouldn't consider this more folk fiddle music to be my cup of tea, but wow this album was pretty solid. Especially the earlier songs on the album were really great. Glad I heard it, I've never heard of these guys before, but I will definitely be listening to some of these songs again. Awesome vibe.
Solid album. This is a real corn festival barbecue playlist. Anywhere that sells ribs is playing this album regularly. Solid songs. I didn't know that Tuesday's Gone was their song.
I think the quality is omnipresent on this album. This isn't necessarily my go to vibe, but the guitar/bass solos are bangin and the drums are really good throughout. The songwriting is solid, and I have no complaints on the album. Some of the more minimal songs are less interesting in my opinion. Mississippi kid for example is a fine song, but it just didn't grip me. Ideally this should be a 5 song album, but It is better than my expectations and I will be bumping a few of these from time to time whenever I buy a smoker to cook ribs
At times I felt it jumped around a little too much but I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of some of the beach boys/Beetles stuff with more modern instrumentation.
Pretty solid album with high highs
I'd give it a 3.5 if i could
Fine album. Definitely a bit surprised that this is on the list. seems like an alright album, with some songs that are highlights for sure. It does have great instrumentals, but overall it was kinda boring with okay singing and pretty good production
Definitely in the top few albums on the list so far. I've never heard much of the Pixies aside form the big ones that everyone knows. Pleasantly surprised with how awesome they are. I'm gonna be cycling this album a lot. Not every song is a top track, but I added almost all of them. I think my favorite was The Happening
Interesting. He does have a good voice and songwriting. The lyrics are a vibe, but I don't know if I'm the target audience here. It's a bit boring and I feel like the instrumentals don't really get super far beyond where they start. The bass player is really good and the guitars are solid too. The music is good, but for some reason it doesn't have a certain x factor, but it is super chill. reminds me of a rattlesnake moseying through a gigantic desert on a hot summer day. He's a snake though so he's kinda chillin
Sick album. I've heard some songs by Zappa, but Willie the Pimp has converted me to a believer.
the guitar scattered over this album is super solid. The bass player and drummer do a great job holding it down the whole time. Fells like a very different brand of the kind of stuff that Hendrix was doing. I didn't think the entire album was a masterpiece, but the moments that were good, were Really Good. and even the lower points were filled with experimental jazz with rock solid grooves. Some of the horns lost me a little, but otherwise, rock solid jams and really awesome playing. I think that seeing this live would easily go down as a top concert experience. I do think at times this album is a bit over the top, but that's how they get it's best moments as well I think.
I could understand people not loving it, but I do think it is a great album to be on the list, as it is pretty boundless
This album just like some other Floyd albums has some essence about it that forces reflection of what it means to be a person in a world that prioritizes material things and artificial purpose. What is the purpose of our pursuits and where do they bring us?
Additionally, Money is one of my favorite songs ever made.
The whole album has such a great vibe to it and it really is beautiful and a soulful masterpiece. I think that it deserves the credit that it gets as one of the greatest albums of all time.
Awesome album full of soul and classics. Wasn't too long, and left me wanting more. This album is unlike any stands up to the test of time. Love the instrumentation and the singing and writing. Good vibes all around, Al Green is the man
Been a fan of this one for some time now. The best way I could describe this album would be in the word peaceful. This album can remove the chaos from an environment. It moves and sways in ways that aren't always predicitble. It's unpredictively repetitive, and something for the background.
A soundtrack for nothing.
This was a great album. Some of the best songwriting I maybe have ever heard. I like the minimal instrumentation. It compliments the storytelling well. I had to listen to it multiple times to get a focused listen. It's worth being attentive for, and the whole album paints a picture of a man's genuine, dim, appreciative, and lost perspective.
