1001 Albums Summary

Classic. Listening for long time

Can see why it's well thought of, good flows and production. Certainly of its time. Not really my jam, though.

decent. not typical beach boys, but elements - harmonising etc. not favourite album of theirs

Very samey and boring

lush and intimate recording, but also claustrophobic at times - not in a bad way

even though i have a soft spot for this sort of thing (prefer weezer though) i can't help but feel the album is very samey. i don't wan to say derivative, but most of the songs do sound very similar

Very much psychedelic 70s rock. Not for me and couldn't finish listening to the album.

I am aware of, but have not been the biggest fan of, the White Stripes. They have some absolute bangers (the popular songs), but not many are on this album. However, this does contain the amazing and fantastic We’re Going to Be Friends, so gets an extra star from me.

It's fine. Honestly, it sounds like fairly generic 60s/70s rock and I can't see what the fuss is about

A good album, you can hear the influences - rock, blues, country. It was an interesting listen, but I can't say I'll return to it on my own.

Very inventive, if a little haphazard

Was fine I suppose. Was already familiar with the title track, and the rest of the album was more of the same. If anything, it was unexpectedly jollier. Can hear the influence this era of American music had on contemporary Jamaican music, particularly organ-heavy music from Lee Perry (Scratch the Upsetter Again etc)

Boring

Some absolute classics. Evokes an image of a particular time and place

Very mid-90s, slacker movie soundtrack. Not bad and will listen to more by Elliott Smith

Nicely recorded and well performed but, for me, it's standard hippy fare that doesn't stand out. Yes, the you can hear the intricacies in the playing and vocal harmonies but the songs don't appeal.
