Didn't finish. A little too much going on for my taste
Idk if we're getting unlucky with the rolls or not but I'm stoned out. Might like this more when I revisit it sometime in the future, but for now its a step below everything else I've heard from them
Interesting listen. Really good run to start, then there were a few I wasn't too crazy about. Some parts of the instrumentals reminded me of Portishead. Not as crazy about this as Albarn's other stuff
Fun project, wish I were around to hear this live back when it first dropped. I was already a big fan of a few of these tracks after hearing them on one of their compilations, but within the context of the album they're even better sounding. Bangin basslines and classic 80s post punk darkness whats not to love. Catchy as hell with a solid variety of songs throughout.
Lots of nostalgia with this one, catchy as hell with great vibes all the way through. Definitely a few boring moments but overall an enjoyable listen.
Solid listen, digging the folk bluesy vibes on this one. Only knew Gimme Shelter and cant always get before hearing it, but was pleasantly surprised by the direction it took in between. Love in vain and Monkey were standouts
Got a few catchy riffs and some nice basslines, but overall not for me
Damn it's been a minute since I heard this one. Really appreciating the production on this listen, especially all the beats Lupe did himself. Easy to see how this project was a massive influence on all my favorite rappers growing up. Crazy consistent flow throughout, definitely dated but the bars are still there
Hated the first song at first, then grew to enjoy it by the end of the track. I could see myself liking it more in the right environment. Lots of unique vibes, even the songs I wasn't a fan of (almost all of them) felt like they had something interesting going on behind them. Really loved the songs I did like, but won't be rushing to listen to the rest anytime soon.
Great listen, big fan of the minimalist folk feel. Really liked California, Little Green, This Flight Tonight. Weirdly comforting vocals.
After discussion and replay review the call on the field has been overturned. Please place the ball at the 5
Pretty solid listen, nothing revolutionary sounding but I enjoyed it
Started off alright but I really loved the direction it took from Waking the Witch onward. The songs felt a little more personal I guess, compared to the beginning the concepts seem more unfiltered. Little Earth was prob my favorite overall, it was like a mini journey within itself. It gave me 2001 vibes for some reason. Chorus on the jig goes crazy
Really beautiful songwriting, namely Cellular song and Waltz of the new moon. I was on board from the jump with the classical folky feel, it made me wish I had a pint of mead in front of a fire in some dingy tavern. At first I wasn't expecting this to be an album I'd revisit often but it built on the original concept super well, slowly stringing you along and upping the soulfulness with each track. The last two tracks really sealed it as a solid project, especially the vocals on Swift as the wind.
Ehhh. First springsteen album and I'm not exactly impressed. Fake deep sounding songs that kinda just say nothing, and nothing to write home about sonically. I'm sure this would be a wonderful listen if you never left your hometown in Jersey.
Good vibes all the way through. Happy I listened to it but don't think I'll revisit too often. Might check out more of his stuff soon, curious to see what an album sounds like instead of a compilation.
Interesting listen. Flip flopped alot on this one, at points it seemed like Great Value Radiohead (not a diss necessarily) and at others I lost interest slightly. Had some great moments though, especially on the guitar. Could've been a bit shorter. I feel like its definitely an album that'll grow on me over time.
Safesurfer was the best track easily.
Loved this one all the way through. Multiple of the best new songs that I've heard in a while. Would write more but i gotta go and need to see this next album
Great album if you're looking to bring a little funk to your dentist's waiting room. A couple smooth basslines and fun vocal moments but I couldn't get into the mood for it overall.
Pretty good. Never really listened intently to Sympathy for the Devil before so that was nice. Same with Jigsaw Puzzle
Rediscovered this about a week ago and have had it on repeat ever since. Super cozy feeling album with lots of soul. All the charm of the beatles but without the poppyness. Starts off ridiculously strong but slows down a bit, Beware of Darkness was a high point though. Captures the time period well. Closer to 5 than 3
This guy seems like he'd be a great grandfather. Lyrically has the feel of listening to a story you've heard hundreds of times. Wasn't crazy about a couple of tracks but overall liked it.
What a truly special album. Either disk would be a masterpiece all on its own. Love's in need and Isnt she lovely set the tone beautifully for each side. I keep trying to pick a stretch of songs to shout out but I can't decide where to stop, its all so good. Sir Duke and I wish back to back. The last half of Ordinary Pain. The whole album flows so beautifully, both conceptually and sonically. As. My personal pick for the greatest album of all time.
Some songs I really liked, especially the start. Didn't feel like it was worth the length though
Great highs with some boring stretches, but if this genre is your thing I can see how this would be a classic.
