Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Oct 08 2025

I can see why this album was very influential and parts of it were excellent, but it was a tough listen at times, chaotic and mangled. Good to experience it though

Young Americans by David Bowie
Oct 10 2025

I was surprised but how disappointing this album is overall, given that I actually quite like a lot of Bowie. Beyond Fame and Can you Hear Me it seemed a bit derivative

Be by Common
Oct 11 2025

Sumptuously produced, brilliantly delivered, really loved this one

Metallica by Metallica
Oct 13 2025

Lacks the ornate musicianship of previous but still absolutely slaps, and Nothing Else Matters is a beautiful song

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Oct 16 2025

This is an absolute delight, which I’d never heard before. There’s a very 80s tone to some of the songs, very lush and layered, but it’s also kind of sad.

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Oct 17 2025

Was amazed by how good some of the lyrics were. I find the music a bit annoying at times but this is a great album

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Oct 18 2025

Loved it. Obviously there’s a slight question mark over whether he’s exploiting prisoners and he clearly plays up his own ‘outlaw’ status but the music is amazing, the energy brilliant, and June’s vocals are also on point.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Oct 19 2025

Glorious. Complex and crisp and beautiful. Also Spacelab made our unborn child start kicking loads

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Oct 20 2025

Not really for me

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Oct 23 2025

Pretty fun and clearly an influence on stuff that came later in the big electro revival. A few tracks were a bit repetitive but it’s all very slick and well made

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Oct 24 2025

This was very good. Maybe not as strong and interesting as other big grunge albums, but some bangers nonetheless

Oct 26 2025

Kind of like an extended jam session. Great musicianship but not something I’d listen to loads. But when it bangs it does bang

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Oct 28 2025

Couldn’t get into this at all. I can see how it’s important but I found it too frenetic

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Oct 29 2025

Obviously influential and quite fun but the vocals annoyed me

Blood, Sweat & Tears by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Oct 31 2025

The musicianship pushes this up to a 3* but honestly, pretty dull

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Nov 02 2025

Last three songs are 5/5, the rest of the album is 3/5

Bad by Michael Jackson
Nov 03 2025

Insanely excellent. Production, songwriting, vibe. Weird guy, great album

Spiderland by Slint
Nov 06 2025

One of my favourites

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Nov 07 2025

Not really my thing

So by Peter Gabriel
Nov 08 2025

Very 80s but some classic songs and amazing bass

Rocks by Aerosmith
Nov 10 2025

Shouty and unimaginative

Pretenders by Pretenders
Nov 11 2025

Felt almost like two albums, with a more punky vibe than the more 80s feel. Good though

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Nov 12 2025

Really fun blend of country and soul/rock. Some songs got a bit samey though

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Nov 16 2025

Extremely complex and amazing musicianship. Maybe not always an easy listen but very good

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Nov 17 2025

Not as good as Music For but still has some great tracks and equally nostalgic

Teen Dream by Beach House
Nov 20 2025

Good but a bit shoegaze-y for my tastes

Fragile by Yes
Nov 22 2025

Bit OTT

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Nov 23 2025

Great bass but not something I’d listen to often

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Nov 24 2025

Fine, bit generic for that kind of thing

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Nov 25 2025

Really fun, esp Ball and Chain

The Bends by Radiohead
Nov 26 2025

Excellent. Not quite as solid as later stuff but pretty flawless

Homework by Daft Punk
Nov 27 2025

Actually found this very annoying. Repetitive and jangly. A few good songs in a sea of mess

Trio by Dolly Parton
Nov 28 2025

Fantastic. Great harmonies, clever songs

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers
Dec 04 2025

Quite fun blues but not something I’d listen to again

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Dec 05 2025

Kind of the annoying jangly side of early 00s indie
