I hate it. White men shouting. Not good rap and also not good rock. Hope tomorrow isn’t Beastie Boys
Awesome white guy music! Jazzy and fun and feel good. Shaking my lil booty to Peg for the rest of my life. I love it when white guys wile out in this particular musical manner. More of this white guy business and less Beastie Boys please 1001albumsgenerator.com gods
Just didn’t do it for me sadly, definitely is a lazy comparison to make but felt like a less accessible & slightly jarring at times Tracy Chapman record. Maybe needs a relisten
Yeah this got off to a crawling start and never really found its feet did it… Sing a Simple Song however is an absolute banger and I did love some of the funk instrumentals so extra marks for that
What a beautiful album and one I would have never listened to had I not been doing this! A couple of songs I knew but never properly appreciated - Father and Son is a true all timer and will stay with me forever now. Rating dragged down by a couple of weaker songs but all in all very grateful for the introduction to Cat Stevens’ gorgeous songwriting and storytelling
Loved the production, didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics but there was a lot of mention of willies
Oh me oh my this is awesome. I think I need to listen to it way more to fully understand and put my finger on what I find so captivating about it, but for sure the first 5 star for me of the project and an album that will be in rotation for a fair while
Cover art is cool and I like the album name, was listenable but nothing remarkable and got a bit samey pretty early on
I could have died without listening to this
This is so close to being a 4 but I sadly just don’t think I’ll remember or revisit this album or any of its songs. A good time though! Felt like I should be riding a horse whilst listening to it
So nearly a 4, some great songs but just don’t think I’ll revisit as a whole album… Which makes me think some of my previous 3s should be 2s and some of my 2s should be 1s. It’s really hard to rate 1001 albums and have a consistent rating system. Love you Steven Wonderful and looking forward to giving you a 5 stars at some point
C M PUNK! C M PUNK! C M PUNK!
I was brought up on Fat of the Land and hadn’t ever listened to this in full. Some heaters (Break and Enter, No Good, obvs Voodoo People) but also some shite in between. Probably won’t listen to it in full again
Really adored this album, felt so nostalgic to me for some reason - I think because it reminded me a lot of the Levellers albums played in the house growing up. The titular track will be on repeat for a fair while as will this record stay in rotation! Much weaker 2nd half after such a strong start just does bring the rating down a tad but god I love violins lol
i think i went into this wanting to give it a 5 as i know im supposed to grant god like status to Funeral by Arcade Fire buuuut i’ve always been a The Suburbs girlie and a lot of this album fades into the background for me. with the exception of course of Wake Up, which is one of the best songs ever made
first MJ album i’ve ever listened to in full which is shocking from me. a real good time and probably the first album on this list that i’m not shocked to see featured, one of the greatest to ever do it
Have discovered via this project that I LOVE Steely Dan lol - also weird that of 1089 albums i’ve got two Steely Dan in the first 20! This was fun but not quite as good as Aja for me. Please 1001albumgenerator gods save me some Steely Dan for later
LOVED this. what a time. so british. yorkshire mentioned
inoffensive, very 80s, but pretty uninspiring to me. shame really as i want to support these slay queens and they sound like they’re having a great time
First album of this project that I already knew front to back really well, and what a joy it is to listen through again. Just one of the best albums ever made, Tracy Chapman is a gift. Baby Can I Hold You remains one of my favourite songs of all time
Two albums in a row that I already know and love, I am such a Nile Rogers fangirl and had the absolute privilege of seeing him and Chic play a few of these tunes live. A moment please for the most underrated most beautiful song Easier To Love PLEASE i’ve been spinning this track so frequently for the past few months
i think if i’d listened to this at a different time in my life i would’ve really enjoyed it
i was raised to be a coldplay hater and i actually didn’t HATE this. however in accordance with my upbringing and beliefs i can’t in good conscience give this higher than a 2
strong start but got pretty samey pretty quick. was funnily motivating to listen to on my morning run as a white woman
i actually think i’m more ideologically against U2 than i am coldplay, what a dreary listen. actually couldn’t finish it lol first DNF of the game. also im still mad at them for that time they forcefully downloaded their shitey album onto my ipod touch and used all my storage
the young man on the bass was going absolutely crazy. got to respect it. was a nice listen but i don’t think i’m sophisticated enough to have much of an opinion on piano jazz
a decent listen but lowkey every song sounded the same except for Love Hungry Man which had a funky little bassline
god this is so good, forgot how much i loved led zep. could genuinely be a 5 with a few more listens and more time to take it all in. re entering my led zep phase immediately
fuck me this was absolutely dreadful
this was so sick, exactly the kind of album i’d hoped to get through this thing - an absolute banger which i would’ve never stumbled across myself. also consolidates my belief that lyrics are the least important part of a song because i don’t know what these guys are saying but by god do i know what they are SAYING
the delight i felt when this came up as my album for today! god fuck i love this album so much. so sonically rich, beautiful and thought out, so stylishly dark and moody, sets very few feet wrong in my eyes. just a gorgeous listening experience every single time
how do you rate an album where the second song is one of the best songs ever made and the rest are a load of shite
this was woefully bad i couldn’t even finish it please don’t ever give me this shit again
Some interesting moments and an overall nice easy listen, but rather forgettable sadly
Not a Bowie record I had even heard of before, but thoroughly enjoyed! A very cohesive album and sounds so sure of itself despite being a diversion from the usual Bowie sound. Good fun
felt so overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of this 2 hour beast of an album that i’m now a week behind on this project. i love outkast and there are some undeniable bangers on this but fuck me could it not have been half the length fellas
not sure why i have always turned my nose up at listening to this album, big mistake, huge. what a bloody album - i think because i had heard london calling too many times i didn’t want to listen to a full album that sounded like it but by heck the VARIETY! the RANGE! way more ska vibes than i had expected. loved it, solid 5 stars from me
Look I’m sorry but I actually just don’t give a fuck about Pink Floyd
i’ve always been a bit of an echo and the bunnymen casual since i decided that donnie darko would be my favourite film when i was 15 trying to be edgy. i did really enjoy this, some brilliant songs and a then a bit of easy background music. the bunnymen really know how to write a bridge - i could listen to the bridge section in the cutter all day every day
i tried to listen to this album in full and review it properly but i ended up just listening to Mayonaise 13 times in a row so i don’t have much to add to the discussion
