Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement

keep trying to listen to this in full and getting distracted so i don’t know if this is a fair rating, i have enjoyed it but it doesn’t seem so jump out to me

Dec 15 2025

songs i know and love but i don’t think i’ve ever sat down to listen to the album through? very enjoyable and great start. clearly the blueprint for so much music, im hearing so many samples in these songs

The Clash by The Clash
Dec 16 2025

despite releasing in 1977, it still sounds fresh and relevant today almost 50 years later - songs about unemployment, anti-americanisation, and frustration at the political system in the UK. great high energy throughout its tight 36 min run time and just a generally really good album!! 5/5

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Dec 17 2025
Boston by Boston
Dec 18 2025

fun prog rock/rock opera vibes! can see why people went crazy for this when it came out

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Dec 19 2025

depressing! i liked the demo vibe, i don’t think i was massively in the mood for this when i listened. good storytelling for the characters in the songs but it does start depressing and doesn’t let up

1999 by Prince
Dec 22 2025

i just don’t think this was for me. songs are too long. i feel like i got very intimate with prince and i didn’t like it

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Dec 23 2025

i enjoyed this!! may listen again looking at the lyrics properly based on other reviews. i like bob dylan but i don’t think i’ve listened to an album through so this was a good place to start i think

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Dec 24 2025

can imagine this blowing peoples minds in the 80s

Calenture by The Triffids
Dec 25 2025

it started okay and now it’s awful. holy water could be a least fave song of this whole project so far. why is there 17 songs and by song 8 i hate it already. hope it picks up my god

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Dec 29 2025

boring, repetitive, weirdly misogynistic

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 01 2026

america is one of the best songs of all time so that makes this album a 5. i thought the interludes brought the album together well. really good album and i love the sillyness of being an english muffin or kelloggs cornflake

Jan 05 2026

i feel like this is more of a 3.5 cause when it’s good it’s great and when it’s not, it’s just pots and pans banging around

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jan 06 2026

Really enjoyed this!!

Sister by Sonic Youth
Jan 07 2026
It's Too Late to Stop Now by Van Morrison
Jan 09 2026

a live album and a double album of it at that … it’s a no from me

Jan 13 2026

some crazy homophobia and misogyny in the lyrics but it’s a fun album!! sounds slightly corny now just with how the genre has progressed since, but you can understand the tensions in compton in the 90s through this album and it’s still relevant today. maybe not a personally relevant album to me but enjoyed none the less - 3.5

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Jan 14 2026

sounds like the beatles, guitar is a nice sound but quite samey, not bad not amazing

Third by Portishead
Jan 16 2026

don’t think this is for me massively, quite boring but very intense at the same time?

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Jan 19 2026
Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Jan 22 2026

i feel like i should like it but it doesn’t stand out to me at all, very middle of the road, 2.5

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Jan 23 2026

feels like my dad has sat me down for an hour to show me “music was better in the 80s”, which is what a lot of this list is feeling like sometimes. nothing wrong with it massively just very samey and by the end i was waiting for it to be over.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jan 27 2026

potentially the most accurate band name ever obviously i love it, it’s cheesy and extra in the best way 4.5/5

Infected by The The
Jan 29 2026

some interesting moments in this album but did i need to hear this before i died? no. this list has some amazing albums and then what seems to be the authors personal taste creeping through

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Feb 26 2026

suppose if you were there at the time this would blow your mind. fun and classic songs on here but to listen to the album front to back is very intense, i feel like i have a high tolerance for jazz and blues but this tested me

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Feb 27 2026

the singles i know from this album are really good, but everything else was so drawn out. the male vocals were awful!! so so grating!!

Revolver by Beatles
Mar 02 2026

i never know what i think of the beatles, a few great songs here but the album as a whole was okay? more of a 3.5 that i’ll give a 3

The White Album by Beatles
Mar 03 2026

i’m normally queen of beatles are overrated nation but i have to admit this is quite a solid album

Youth And Young Manhood by Kings of Leon
Mar 05 2026

dull and uninteresting, confused how this snuck onto this list as it just sounds like a poor imitation of all the 70 rock on here already

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Mar 06 2026

so many bangers with some random covers bringing it down a star for me. why don’t people make 13 min synth rock album openers anymore?

Transformer by Lou Reed
Mar 09 2026

not for me, some good moments but i do think the musicality of an album is quite important to my enjoyment of an album, and this is maybe more freeform than i’d prefer shall i say

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Mar 11 2026

this is so good and now i need to listen to all his other stuff!! finding albums like this is why i love this project

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Mar 12 2026

some songs were a miss for me but i loved the overall experimentation and sound of this album!! 3.5

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
Mar 13 2026

generic 90s punk made for the radio which is fine but confusing why it gets a spot on this list!

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Mar 16 2026

3.5 from me, liked the sound of this album but felt too long in places

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Mar 17 2026

a few good songs but the rest is maybe a bit too freeform for me

Dust by Screaming Trees
Apr 23 2026

it was fine but not very memorable to me!! agree with some of the reviews questioning how this album got onto this list

Picture Book by Simply Red
Apr 24 2026

cheesy, very 80s, and ultimately uncool, but i did enjoy it? i’ve now listened to a lot of weird 80s pop/rock on this list and it’s the best of a bad bunch. i do find the album cover terrifying though? why did they pick this? 3.5!

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Apr 27 2026

love finding albums like this through this list!!

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Apr 28 2026

for all the cheesy 70s rock this list has given me this is a standout, very enjoyable with some huge songs on here, most notably does not drag or all sound the same like similar albums in the genre

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
May 14 2026

keep trying to listen to this in full and getting distracted so i don’t know if this is a fair rating, i have enjoyed it but it doesn’t seem so jump out to me

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
May 20 2026

unfinished symphony being the highlight but this is solid - very defining album of the genre/era imo! they have better albums but this is very solid
