Violent Femmes
Blister in the sun - Boring repeated riff throughout, lacks unique instrumentation, repulsive lyrics, uninteresting bridge - 1/5
Kiss off - Riff is pleasant and not too overused, minimal instrumentation but still decent, uninteresting/weird lyrics, good guitar sound - 3/5
Please do not go - Bassline is obnoxious, instrumentation boring and uninteresting, Annoying vocals and bitchy lyrics, too whiney - 2/5
Add it up - Sick instrumental sections, instrumentation is basic but works well, decent vocals but lyrics are a little annoying but funny, really love the intro guitar section 6/5
Confessions - Decent instrumental sections, instrumentation is surprisingly cohesive but basic, vocals are extremely annoying but lyrics are fine, so slow i wanted off myself (joke) 2/5
Prove my love - Fun guitar and bass sections, instrumentation basic but works well together (basically most of this album - from now on I'll refer to it as BI), vocals are decent but lyrics little pretentious, catchy 4/5
Promise - Decent guitar sections, BI, vocals are fine but too atonal and lyrics are weird, nothing unique about it 2/5
To the kill - some really annoying sections, instrumentation is basic and it is incoherent, vocals are least obnoxious so far but its still not great and lyrics are weird, really repetitive 3/5
Gone daddy gone - decent instrumentals, MARIMBA!!!, vocals are annoying and lyrics are annoying (very annoying chorus), marimba = fire 3/5 (would be 2 without marimba)
Good feeling - very pleasant piano sections, fiddle and piano! varied instruments, vocals are pleasant and lyrics are humorous, dont like the lalala (but i dont mind it as it is only for minimal amount of time) 5/5
Overall - some decent instrumental sections but far and few inbetween, there is some variation of instrumentation but i think its too basic and too incoherent for it to be called decent, vocals are mostly annoying and lyrics are mostly gross or weird, inconsistent in quality - 3.1/5 statistically and due to personal dislike ill round it down to 3/5 and because I really hate the lyrics and the message of the album so I'll put it down to a 2/5 as it ruins the good that there is in the album with only two standout good songs being - add it up and good feeling with blister in the sun being a repulsive song.
(by instrumentation I mean the instruments used, im not sure thats a correct use of the word but thats how i used it and if it has minimal instrument if it would be well mixed I'd be fine with it)
Score: 2/5
