1001 Albums Summary

Led me to the "relationships and fatherhood" section of Brian Jones' wikipedia which was something. Pretty good, remember it being big for me when first discovered. Some great "evil rock" energy here, true to the era. Moreso now it makes me want to dig into some of their influences more, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmie Rogers. I remember bouncing off some of those younger but I think they might have more staying power with me now.

Truly an astounding amount of bangers for one album. Love Alanis' voice, feel like it has only gotten better with age. The force she can push some of her words out with is insane. Also, I think more slap bass in here than I remember? Listened on bus commute and then walking a couple blocks in bitter snowy cold, unbothered

Really good

Some pretty fun tracks but kind of ultimately feels like a mess. I followed up with a couple tracks off Can't Buy a Thrill and liked that more. Maybe this just isn't the Dan for me.

Great energy and lots of warmth in this live recording. Love the balance of room and band sound, like you're situated right on the edge of the stage. Sometimes you get glimpses of what feels like an audience bursting with frenetic energy. Brown was 29 when this was recorded. Cool moment in time.

De-li-lahhhhh, love someone toniiiiiite

Was only familiar with the hits, has aged quite well with nice spacious production and some great instrumentation, nice synths in here and some cool brass. Alison Goldfrapp's voice is versatile and embodied, greatly atmospheric.

Pretty good. "Man on the Moon" is my eduring favorite but probably my first ever true listen through. "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite" and "Monty Got a Raw Deal" standouts at first pass.

Some of the youthful longing has sapped out of this album over time, it's hard to evaluate it objectively against how my perspective has grown since hearing it first over a decade ago.

Unexpectedly enjoyed
