1001 Albums Summary

Classic bluesy progy rock. I’ll always prefer II and IV but I do remember listening to this one a lot when I had a big classic rock phase in middle/high school.

This was phenomenal, great chill vibes but the star of the show is Scott LaFaro’s impeccable bass work.

Exit Music, Electioneering, and No Surprises were cool. The rest of that album also happened I guess. I could be meaner if I wanted but I also don’t feel that passionate about my dislike of them, just profound indifference like before.

Iconic. Incredibly thoughtful with musical genius. Not much to say cause the music speaks for itself.

I was expecting to like this album but god I love it. Such a rich tapestry of words and musicianship. Plus god, I love the sound of a Gibson EB-3

Oh how did I never see this before, this is sick. 90s punk with horns, great energy, really fun and full soundscape. Highlight is Fat Lip.

If you include Doctor Pressure with Miami Sound Machine, this becomes an easy 4. Starts kind of slow but from track 5 onwards this is some real great classic 90s house

This album has such a… joyous quality to it. The grooves are infectious, the lyrics are fun and witty, the flows are perfect. This whole album just makes me wanna smile.

That was some music I guess. Like maybe they were the progenitor of all the tropes of hair metal and I listened to far too much dad rock in high school but there was really nothing that really excited me.

High energy and gritty from start to finish. Such pure punk in a quirky package.

Does this album need to be on this list? No. Groove metal Metallica really doesn’t need much dwelling on. That said, Sad But True is one of the platonic ideals of groove metal, so this album is worth listening to for that.

Turns out every member of Deep Purple is extremely good at what they’re doing. I should… probably listen to more of them lol. Criminally undersold by smoke on the water lmao. I knew this but I still never dove into them

Well, it’s better than I feared but worse than I hoped. My reaction to the first song was saying “I think I’m too gay for this” out loud lmao. There’s some cool steel guitar work and I Really Don’t Want to Know is a really sweet love song but this album generally didn’t make me feel anything

Big mid tempo chilling and thinking sort of album. Your not gonna get catchy hooks but you will hear fantastic beats and killer rhymes

Legendary. Still hits hard and depressingly still relevant commentary.

Like I don’t hate the album but i don’t know, it sounds like a Fat Boy Slim album

I’m not normally a fan of country, but I also didn’t know there was an out lesbian doing it in the 80s and 90s. And wow what a hauntingly beautiful voice, combined with the immaculate production really elevates it for me.

I hesitate to describe this as jam but this hits a lot of notes for me that jam bands do. I loved it the whole time, just full of infectious grooves the whole album.

This album is so aggressively 80s but in a way that ends up feeling tasteful, almost timeless. Infectious grooves, sad boy lyrics, TIGHT bass lines, and beautiful production.
