Not my favorite album of theirs. I like Q-Tip’s voice and the production is among my favorites for 80s-90s hip-hop, but the album lacks variety and kinda sounds the same by the fourth or fifth song. Definitely good background music but not great for detailed listening.

Feb 05 2026

The unplugged aesthetic is kinda cool at first but really highlights how similar the songs they selected were. Kurt’s voice, the acoustic guitar, the bass, and the light drums aren’t enough to give it a full enough sound. The album got boring around the 3rd or 4th song but had a few nice moments.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Feb 06 2026

The production, beats, and hooks are sometimes really good but I don’t resonate with any of what he says

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Feb 09 2026

I thought her voice was pretty cool but the songs weren’t particularly interesting and her vocal dynamics were kinda odd. She gets really loud and suddenly soft or maybe she’s moving closer and farther from the mic? Either way it’s distracting.

1984 by Van Halen
Feb 10 2026

What does it say about this album that the first lyric is a voice crack? Some of the instrumental elements were pretty cool, but the overall sound is kinda cheesy and the vocals gave me the ick

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Feb 11 2026

Great musicianship on this album. The harmonica and saxophone playing was so good and even though it was all pretty standard blues it didn’t really get old for me. I usually prefer playing blues over listening to it but this was definitely an above-average blues album

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Feb 12 2026

Not super my style but she’s incredibly talented. I didn’t prefer this over her more bluesy 70s stuff but I could totally see how someone could be really into this

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Feb 13 2026

So good, I preferred the slower songs that highlighted his voice a bit more. Some songs like Billie Jean, Beat It, and Thriller are severely overplayed but I loved Human Nature, Baby Be Mine, and The Girl Is Mine. The mixing and musicianship on this album is undeniable

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Feb 16 2026

Not as bad as I thought it would be. It would be a 3 if it weren’t for those awful vocals

C'est Chic by CHIC
Feb 17 2026

Very fun album. Super close to being a 5 but I’m just not really a fan of the shout chorus vocals, I preferred the sound of At Last I Am Free because it was a bit more stripped down and I really liked the instrumental track Savoir Fair. The bass playing is insane on this album

Feb 18 2026

Very boring listening experience, Frank Sinatra doesn’t really have the vocal prowess or character to sell the bossa nova style. Meditation in particular was such a slog to listen through

Calenture by The Triffids
Feb 19 2026

I literally hate it

Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Feb 20 2026

Radiohead on broadway. I liked the first three tracks a bit aside from the bolero interpolation but then the songs started to be really hit or miss. He leans too much into the musical theater-ness for my taste but I actually like his tenor-y voice. Very mixed feelings on the whole thing

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Feb 23 2026

I like everything but his voice and the fact that it gets boring when listening to the whole album. Weirdly more listenable than CCR

21 by Adele
Feb 24 2026

Very solid, not really an album I’d listen to outside of this though. Her voice is a bit too powerful for a daily listen for me personally. The quality of the album is undeniable though

Revolver by Beatles
Feb 25 2026

Not really my favorite Beatles but Eleanor Rigby and Here, There And Everywhere are great. If it weren’t for those tracks, it might be a 3 but overall it’s a 4 for me

Feb 26 2026

If this were sung by someone else it would be so much better. The phasey, chorus-y vocals don’t work. Instrumentals are fine

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Feb 27 2026

This made me feel nothing. I guess some of the instruments are good? I swear I’ve heard better songs of theirs but I guess they’re not on this album

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Mar 02 2026

I’m a huge Nick Drake fan and this is probably my 2nd favorite of his three albums. I think his vocal timbre is super interesting and his playing is great. I like how stripped the instrumentation on this album is: piano, acoustic guitar, and voice. Not for everyone but I personally love this album

Marquee Moon by Television
Mar 03 2026

Vocals too whiny. Songs were fine but forgettable
