My first daily album! I'm already so excited about this, as I'd never even heard of the trip hop genre and would probably have never discovered this album on my own. I don't know much about music criticism or theory, but it felt really solid and relaxing, maybe a bit too monotonous for my taste in some parts (but maybe that's the point?). Probably something I'd have in the background instead of listening actively. Glory box I'd heard before, and for a reason, it's the standout for me. Really good vibes all around.
I know it’s criticism of the US but it’s still SOO painfully US and not enough criticism for my taste.. also his voice in some of these is a bit annoying to listen to- sorry! Dancing in the dark IS that good though

Now I know who every other punk band I'd listened to is imitating! It's not perfect but that makes it even more endearing. I had a lot of fun with these very angry lads. im excited to listen to more of their albums! (googles) oh damn. oh no
I'm so happy to have discovered this. if it weren't for this website I don't think I'd have come across it! I LOVE NEW WAVE!! it'd been a while since i had so much fun listening to an album and for that it's a 10/10 for me. straight into my favorites.

This compilation definitely wasn't meant to be listened in one sitting, of course. So yesterday and today I've put it on my speakers on and off while cleaning, doing dishes, cooking, and reading. I feel like if I tried to just listen to the three hours of it and be done with it I would've done it a big disservice. It was wonderful, both Ella's vocals and the compositions... makes you feel like you're in love. I'm going to try to find the vinyl for my collection.
I feel like what she does with her voice is what a lot of indie girls were trying to emulate in the 2010s, but here it actually sounds fairy-like and ethereal, helped by the beautiful instrumentation. It felt like a renaissance era poet storyteller transporting you somewhere else... So beautiful. really liked it
ngl, i don't listen to much hip hop so this was my first alt hip hop album. beats were good and the subject matter was refreshing
i'm biased (i love this style and era) but yeah there's sadly not a lot of memorable stuff in this album. really solid, nonetheless! i like to imagine these albums in the context of where the artist intended people to listen to them. if i was in an 80s club tweaking on blow, this would definitely be a 5/5.
