Damn good album. One of those bands I've heard of but never actively listened to. As it turns out, I've absolutely heard "Sour Times". Going to stick this one into active rotation.
Enjoying hearing all the originals tracks MF DOOM sampled, ha. Side one is easily my favourite. Side two was a little more mixed. I could do with the longer tracks being cut down more, and looking at the information for this one it seems they were indeed cut down for singles.
I dig it. I absolutely would've listened to this in my teenage hipster years. Perhaps isn't hitting as hard with me right now, but I thoroughly enjoy this. Adding it to my regular music rotation.
Surprisingly good album. I had never heard of this guy and the album cover is just some dude in a robe with a pipe... but damn, the dude can write a song. Just consistently well crafted, earnest pop music throughout.
As it turns out I did know "Coconut" but just never knew who Nilsson was. Probably a bunch of other songs of his I know but am unaware are his... I'm reminded of Beatles or Beach Boys tracks in part.
Again, really satisfying album.
I'm not the biggest Smiths fan. I like singles of theirs, but I've never found a whole album that resonates with me. I'd rather have a "best of".
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" is a brilliant track and there are a few other tracks that I quite dig. Bunch of stuff on here is forgettable.
Yeah. As an album, it's alright.
Not really my kind of music. This is the kind of stuff my aunt and uncles loved to listen to at family gatherings, Parsons and Emmylou Harris and the like. Not for me.
"Love Hurts" is fantastic, but I don't care for the rest of it. The rest just kind of blends together for me.
I only know a few of Neil Young's albums (Harvest, After the Gold Rush, and Deja Vu as CSNY), but what I've heard of him I really like. He's my kind of melancholy folk music.
This one is another win for me. So far Young has not missed. He's prolific, though, so I'm sure there's some albums I'll dislike This ain't one. Consistently enjoyable throughout.
This is alright. Couple of tracks really grate on me, but there's a bunch of here that are real solid. "Learned it", "Satin Down"... solid songs. I think it has a stronger middle, starts a bit weak and ends a bit weak.
Decent, though.
Ah, man, this is absolutely my jam. I would've eaten this kind of post-rock album up as a teen. I've known of Tortoise for years and years and just never gotten around to playing them. Like I say, though, absolutely my jam. This album is brilliant.
