Note: it's more then likely a 4.5 but my personal connections bump it up since you can't have .5's
Appetite For Destruction is an album that leaves an impact. It hits hard and goes fast. All the songs are absolute bangers and it has copious amounts of hits. Listen to this album numerous times over the past 5 years and it still hasn't grown stale.

100% yes, one of the greatest debut albums of all time and quite possibly the best album in the 80's hair metal scene that has stood the test of time
A very interesting and pleasant listening experience. Never listened to this kind of music before so it was good to get out of my comfort zone.

Hard to rank since it's a live improv album so it's more just one big song
Is it Top 1001 Worthy (is it essential)?
Maybe, it's a very nice listen with a very interesting story but I wouldn't call it mandatory, would recommend if you like the style though.
I haven't listened to much electronic music before besides a few stuff by Aphex Twin so being able to listen to new albums in the genre is exciting, and I thoroughly enjoyed this album. Very different from the kind of electronic music you here in the club but this is more my cup of tea. Really fun to listen to while doing stuff.

I'd say so, quite a historic band and a pretty inoffensive genre that should be nice for most people looking to experience some classic rock
Listening to American Idiot again made me realize that I somehow after all this time have not gotten to hear Dookie, so seeing this was a pleasant surprise. The album was really good, a more standard approach to Green Day, but that does not make it any less good. It's like the "Who's Next" to American Idiot's "Tommy" or "Quadrophenia". A thrilling pop-punk record filled with bangers.

Grace is such a hauntingly beautiful album that has always deeply spoke to me throughout the years. Yes Yes YES, a truly groundbreaking record from the 60's, Hendrix's guitar skills shine through each track, proving why he's the true guitar virtuoso. Please listen to this record if you haven't, it won't disappoint.
A very interesting listen, one I was not expecting. I had never heard of Tricky, though I had heard of Massive Attack (and turns out I had heard some of Hell Is Round The Corner before), so this was new territory for me but I found it quite good. The atmosphere was so cool and so different compared to most hip hop records I've listened to before. I love the dark vibe to it.

I'd say so yes, a very different hip hop experience compared to the norm and I can feel it's influence on other artists at the time ala David Bowie. Good album.
Somehow throughout all my years of listening to music and being a fan of rock/metal, I had never listened to Master Of Puppets (the album) fully, even though it's been heralded as one of the greatest albums of all time. Now that I have listened to it, I can say that it has 100% lived up to the hype. A thrashing album of pure metal perfection.

Absolutely yes. One of the greatest metal albums and albums in general. Even though it's been talked about to death, that doesn't mean it's not warranted. If you somehow haven't heard it (like me prior) stop what you're doing and listen to it now.
I recently feel that maybe I'm being too generous with my 5's, but I know it's cause the site keeps giving me some of my favorite and greatest albums of all time; OK Computer is one of those. Such a brilliant album with hauntingly beautiful songs that's been a favorite of mine for many years. Yes-ish. Very influential, yet compared to contemporaries at the time, it shows it's age. Better to just listen to the first track, gives you the same idea in a fraction of the time. Also, the artist (now dead) has a nasty legacy.
An interesting listen, different to what I thought when I saw this record. Cool bass and I liked when Sinead O'Connor appear, that was a pleasant surprise. A decent album in the "world" genre (whatever that means)

I've always been meaning to give Tom Petty's albums a listen as I really like the songs I've heard from him and the Heartbreakers; so this finally gave me my chance. And I must say, it was a really fun listen. Full of cool guitars with that classic bluesy rock vibe. A good time overall.

I had briefly heard of The Dandy Warhols before but I was never familiar with their style or their songs. Now I am, and I can say that I think they're really good. I love the alt, indie, shoe-gazey sound that this record has, a very fun time overall.

This was a daunting album like no album I've ever had before, quite frankly I'm glad I got this so early because I would have been a challenge down the track (though it was a challenge now anyways). 69 songs is huge, dare I say too huge; so huge that it affects the overall quality of the album itself. I like the songs by themselves and I like the band's style (looking at their artist page I realized I had actually heard of them before), but all together the nearly 3hr jaunt really takes it's toll. In fact, to put the record into perspective, I will rate the top 3 songs on each separate side (according to Spotify) to better comprehend my thoughts

Is it Top 1001 Worthy (is it essential)?
Kinda, not really. The songs by themselves are fine to great, but the length is absolutely killer to my overall enjoyment. A perfect example of quantity over quality. If you want to get the gist, listen to the higher rated songs and if you really want to give the whole thing a listen, break each side up into their own 50min album and take breaks in between. A cool concept with decent influence, but too much of an undertaking to properly eagerly recommend.
James Brown has always been a titan of influence in the soul/R&B world, and this live album just exemplifies why that is. James and his band are so meticulous and tight that, besides some ambient crowd noises, it doesn't feel like a live album. 30 minutes of good old-fashioned soul.

Yes. A short and sweet record of soul bangers made by one of the biggest, most influential artists of all time. A great album front to back
NOTE: This would probably be a 4.5 if I could, purely due to it being a compilation as opposed to an actual record. However, it gets shown a 5 because I've fell in love with the songs and it deserves to be shown more.
This collection of songs really exemplifies why I started this list; to find the hidden gems that I wouldn't have found otherwise. This record was genuinely so beautiful, filled with perfect songs throughout. Never mind the language barrier, this record is amazing.

Yes, though would probably change it to one of her actual albums (what the author should have done). Elis' songs and vocals are so goergous, and the album is (I'm assuming) some late 70's perfection. If the album being in another language is what turns you away, your loss because her songs are stunning.
One of my current favorite songs has been 'Teenage Kicks' by The Undertones and I've always wanted to give their works a listen. This was my first chance and I quite enjoyed it. Some good proto pop punk fun, a short thrashing record that presents a good time throughout.

I know WE ALL hate Kid Rock as a person, but how does his music fair; do we have to separate the art from the artist? FUCK NO! THIS SHIT WAS SO FUCKING ASS! Someone here said "Rage for the Machine" and that's the best way to describe it. Just plain terrible rap-rock, with terrible lyrics padded with swears like it's a Vivziepop show. A real slog to get through; one of, if not, the worst album I've EVER heard.

Is it Top 1001 Worthy (is it essential)?
Not in a million years. It's actual ear torture. I don't know what this could possibly be influencing, but whatever it did is probably trash anyways. If I could rate it 0 I would, 1 is far too high for this abysmal dogshit. I'd rather kill myself than listen to this again.
What is there to say about Mr Lamar that hasn't been said a million times before. A modern rap and lyrical master, there's a reason he has a Pulitzer Prize (though not for this record). This is definitely not my first listen to "good kid, m.A.A.d city" and it definitely won't be my last. While it took a few listens to click when I first listened to it, once it clicked, oh it clicked! A brilliant album with such a profound story to tell. Full of bangers and no skips.

Certainly an interesting listen, one I'd never heard of before. I find the idea of a fictional movie soundtrack with a electronic, jazz styling quite novel and cool. Plus it featured the pleasant surprise of Nick Cave appearing on one of the songs. I can see why David Lynch used one of these songs in his film, it's got that vibe.

1000% YES. One of the most brilliant singer-songwriter records, a mastery of folk rock and one of the greatest albums of the 70's and of all time. It's tragic that we didn't get to hear more from Nick Drake but what we do get is magical. I beg that you find the time to listen to this if you haven't; it's truly life changing.
Firstly, Morrissey is a real twat of a guy. Secondly, he knows how to write damn good music. This albums is so sonically brilliant; it's a wonder how I hadn't sat down to listen to it front to back till now. The Queen Is Dead is filled to the brim with somber, melancholic beauty.
