1001 Albums Summary

Frankly uninteresting with no memorable or stand-out motifs. The runs were just like any other runs heard in bebop songs. Coltrane's done far better.

Very far outside my taste. Peculiar vocals but some interesting rhythm parts.

Vocals felt too pop for me. Instrumentation felt minimal (in a bad way).

Arguably the most iconic bossa nova album in existence. Phenomenal instrumentation with a cohesive feel but enough variation to hold your attention.

Interesting intersection of rock and jazz. Overall enjoyable, though quite a few slow songs seem to confuse the general vibe.

Not something I'd normally listen to but it was surprisingly enjoyable to listen to.

Stunning lineup of Billy Joel's most iconic anthems. Perfect balance between sentimentality and youthful spirit.

I didn't care for the liberties he takes in his vocal melodies. Often it feels ungrounded and disjointed.

The nasal vocals give the otherwise simpler lyrics some authentic character. Instrumentals are intermittent but effective at creating tense or high energy feelings.

It's fine for dream pop (which I'm not really into). The standout track Walk in the Park is memorable and has a nice back and forth between the sung lines and vocal countermelody.

Strikingly groovy momentum the whole way through. The bass is always doing something interesting. My favorite track "The Gumbo Variations" feature solos that reach extremes in tone and pitch range.

I'm no fan of classic rock but "Out of Time" did manage to get stuck in my head.

I don't like metal :(
