Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jul 16 2026

Being familiar with his greatest hits album, this felt familiar (in a good way) but also had some new surprised. The opener was unexpected and really set the mood. I always find Nick Drake to be easy to listen to, and this was no exception.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Jul 17 2026

I had not listened to any LCD Soundsystem previously. It felt like an album of its time (the mid-aughts). Though and electronic album the rock influence is clear, with songs that reminded me of The Who, Modest Mouse, and Passion Pit. It had some decent variety, with the final track slowing things down before closing out the album. I enjoyed listening to it, but don't I'd put it in my regular rotation.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jul 20 2026

This album is fantastic. Every song is a winner. If you are looking for a jazz-entry point, this is it.

2112 by Rush
Jul 23 2026

I am very hit or miss with 70's rock, but I've always been partial to rush. This is a solid album. It has interesting touches without being too out there.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jul 28 2026
Jul 29 2026

It's open with some gongs--and anything that starts with gongs I'm for. I found it somewhat subdued, in a good way. The songs were complex without being bombastic. Working Class Hero and God were the high points for me.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Jul 30 2026

This album is fantastic. So smart, and kind of progressive actually. And the grooves are killer.

Jul 31 2026

Aside from Wonderwall being one of the greatest songs of all time, this is actually a pretty solid album of well-crafted pop songs.

Aug 03 2026

This was very good. She clearly came to this album with a point of view and it's one that felt fresh nearly thirty years later. I can see the shoulders Beyonce stood in her later career. I first heard this album as a teenager--and it took on new meaning as an adult.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Aug 04 2026

McCartney can write a song. No doubt about it. I’ve always been impressed with Band on the Run. It transitions between so many things and does it really well.

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Aug 05 2026

I didn’t give this 5 because I loved it per se, but I have a deep respect for it. You can hear him taking gospel and blues and folk and applying them in his own voice. It’s makes for a neat listen.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Aug 07 2026

Talking Heads have such an interesting and delightful sound. I am kind of shocked that they had some hits. Not everything was a winner here, but it was a fun listen. Bonus points for being interesting.

Guero by Beck
Aug 10 2026

This was much better than I was expecting. Lots of lo-fi recognizable ditties.

1977 by Ash
Aug 13 2026

Underwhelmed. Felt like kind of generic 90s altrock

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Aug 14 2026

I was instantly transported to high school 1985 in the best possible way. A lot of delightful mid-tempo bops, though so slower bits mid way pull the whole thing down.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Aug 17 2026

It was solid jazz album from artist I hadn't heard before. I liked the prominent afro-influence. Some of the songs were bops!

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Aug 20 2026

It was solid 80s entry that reflected the music of the time. But didn't blow me away.

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
Aug 21 2026

It was fine. Rap isn't really my thing, but it was British and part of it reminded me of Tricky, which is definitely, not a bad thing.
