Violator by Depeche Mode
Jul 23 2026

Some classics on here I already know, and each track flows well into the next. Sea of Sin is a gorgeously dark closer.

1984 by Van Halen
Jul 24 2026

I'm not a big fan of hard rock, so overall this wasn't my favorite, but I distinctly remember Hot for Teacher from Guitar Hero World Tour - that opening guitar solo is cool as hell and the track drives forward like a freight train. Super cathartic. Jump has of course become the biggest hit on the record. It's just OK for me, but I can get with the very 80s synth riff.

Jul 27 2026

Good overall, some new saves on here. Talking Heads make me feel at peace - I think it's the waily vocal just human enough to feel comfortable but still emotive enough to tug on my heartstrings. Not my favorite Talking Heads album but one I hadn't listened to in full, and enjoyed.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 29 2026

Enough to make you feel American.... The blues gets me every time, so tracks like Wrote a Song for Everyone are a winner. Bad Moon rising is a classic but not my preference. Overall 3 stars for quality plus 1 for emotiveness.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Aug 03 2026

What a voice ๐Ÿฅน some music is just timeless

Femi Kuti by Femi Kuti
Aug 06 2026

Wow, this felt like essential listening, and it brought me a lot of joy

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Aug 10 2026

I'll caveat this by saying that The Beatles were never my thing - if they were, maybe this would be a 5 star rating - but those harmonies on You Won't See Me got me in the feels. That was the point at which I knew this would be a good listen purely for the vibes. Transported myself back to the 60s for a few minutes and wished I could stay.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Aug 11 2026

Part of my teenage indie zeitgeist already, but it's been a while since the last full-length listen. Karen O is probably the coolest person ever, and this album is one of a kind sonically.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Aug 12 2026

Vibes all round - people should get to know this album beyond Seven Nation Army, which in my opinion is mid compared to Jack's guitar licks in Ball and Biscuit. That scuzzy tone makes me wanna smoke a ciggy.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Aug 13 2026

Sang along to every word. Timeless.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Aug 17 2026

Read up on this band post-listen. Incredible story. I had never heard of or listened to desert blues but I'm now so intrigued by the genre - the unique blend of very Americana and traditional rhythm and style, in the political context, is such a great example of guitars being a vehicle for protest and expression during upheaval.

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith

Not really my thing but it was okay.
