1001 Albums Summary

Instrumental album. Melodies that are so famous I had heard them a million times and never knew they came from that album! Something to keep handy for dancing sessions. Love it!

Amy was certainly a very talented singer. That album sounds a lot older that it actually is. Perfect for a lounge or a bar but not the kind of music I would enjoy listening at home.

What can I say... it's hard metal. With the right mood it is a perfect addition to a gloomy ambience. I loved that kind of thing as a teenager, maybe not so much today (not so gloomy?).

Nothing original or interesting in that album unfortunately. I must have listened to a million similar albums in my life, this didn't surprise me as something worth it. No memorable melodies, the instrumental parts are what you would expect, no virtuoso. Good to use as background music to not be distracted.

Big fan of Tom Waits and yet I never heard that album. Does remind me of German cabaret. Good Tom Waits stuff.

That's what I call mechanical music. A strong rhythm line that goes on forever, with a minimal jingle repeating ad nauseam, some slight variations every now and then, sometimes voice over. Good for repetitive tasks that don't need chatty music but just beats.

Big fan of the 1960s sound, and yet I somehow missed that band and album. It does sound very much like 1967 but I could not find anything remarkable about it: no melody that would live inside your head for the day. Not bad but there are better albums from that period.

Nick Cave, that's solid rock. Keeping that for days when I wanna feel like a bad boy.
