My favorite Aretha album. Don't know exactly why because it's not the one with the most hits. I just find it perfect and beautiful.
Probably my favorite Springsteen album, though the title song is overplayed and it's maybe a little less subtle than the other. It's filled with classics and not too long.
A nice funk album. Not the greatest but a really cool listen indeed. I forgot I had already listened to it.
Nice girl band with a punk kind of poppy twist. It's fun to listen, but does it actually deserve a spot in a 1001 best albums list?
I'm more and more englighted with each listen. I didn't get into it the first time, I think more than 10 years ago. Today I realized the masterpiece it is. Of course the best Stevie Wonder, but probably the pinacle of funk music. A beautiful, sincere, masterfully crafted album, with a lot of classics.
A relistened that disserved it a bit. I still like its softness and there are a lot of gems, but it's too long with some forgetable songs, and globally I'd like to have more catchy songs from time to time to stay in focus the whole album.
I took the occasion to also listen to their 1st album, which I never did. I prefer the latter (which is the first, confusion I know). This one I loved a bit less, but it's still cool and there is an interesting evolution.
Un de mes Stevie préférés, en tout cas le premier auquel j'ai vraiment adoré. Toujours chouette, même si les autres ont fini par grow on me et que j'apprécie leurs côtés plus funk au final.
A lot of good hits, obviously, but maybe an album not much thought as one, with a pretty artificial flow. Fernando remains a masterpiece.
Kind of a revelation to me. I've listened to it many times but never loved it that much and discovered some of it's most beautiful melodic passages.
Pretty repetitive, unoriginal and annoying. Too bad, I like the Jam, but Weller alone makes a pretty boring and pretentious art rock.
Still revolutionary. Still an album that doesn't move me much. Important, but pretty boring by today standards.
I wouldn't say "one of my favorite Pixies albums" because Surfer Rosa and Doolittle are even better and the other albums I just don’t like much. Let’s just say it’s great, almost perfect, filled with not enough known micro classics, and underrated.
Great rock’n’roll album. It was time I listened to it.
I really like this album. Pure post-punk darkness. Though the ambience is thick, I was a bit disappointed at how all the tracks aren't as memorable.
Thought I had to relistened once again to a classic I never really got into but is present in every single list so I have to come back to it again and again and again... Turns out I forgot I love this album. Great and intelligent soft rock, like a kind of more subtle Steely Dan.
Still not my favorite Stones album, but I got less bored this time and didn't even hate the blues parts. So I can more appreciate that it starts with a piece as great as Sympathy for the Devil.
Still one of the best hip hop albums around. It could have more highs, but the flow and the ambience makes a consistent album nonetheless.
I don't know why I didn't like this album much at first. Ok, it's not as psychedelic as the two follow-ups, but it's filled with bangers.
A nice downtempo/trip hop album. I know the name of the band but I don't know at what point they are influential. So I'm not sure if this an absolute must listen, but it's not a waste of time for sure.
Probably the most defining classics of bossa nova. Of course it will rank high!
What a grower! I love it more with each listen, now I think it's my second favorite Smiths album.
I didn't expect to like it but wow it's even worse than I feared.
Still an album I don't care much about. It's way worse than Nirvana, it's not the worst the Foo Fighters will do, it's not the best either. It's generic alternative rock, and I don't see any interest in listening to it once more.
A nice mambo album.
Wanted to give it a fresh listen even if I didn't really got into it the first time. Even though I love CCR, and Bad Moon Rising is a masterpiece, I stand by my opinion. Sadly the full album does not hold, the songs are too similar, and the instrumentals are really boring.
I don’t know why I listened to Common so late but I'm glad and I did. This is my second listen, after discovering it a few months ago. I already liked it but it’s another revelation. This one is not only a lyrical achievement but also a masterfully crafted RnB album, with perfect hooks, opening the field for pop rap.
Glad I relistened to it, I almost forgot it. A perfect example of this kind of punk albums at the end of the 80s which are just a mashup of different styles, experimenting and parody. I think Ween will gor farer and make better albums, but this one is still a fun relisten.
What an underrated album! I'll always be a big fan of the raw debut who's basically a punk album, that will get hated by metalheads but has already everything with a touch of dirtiness that will be lost after.
I didn't know much about Q-Tip but I see that he managed to keep the sound of A Tribe Called Quest. Very nice album, even if I'm not sure it’s an essential.
A very nice live album, though I'd rather listen to Jailbreak itself. Plus they don't play Whiskey in a Jar.
A great funk album, with really jazz infused moments that make it brilliant!
The kind of thrash metal that really bores me.
Of course it's a perfect album! It's a shame Will Butler is a douchebag. It used to be my favorite album. It's been a long time, but I still love it, it's too perfect to be hated. Yes, it's a popified version of post-rock, but you gotta be a monster to not get into it. It's perfectly crafted, joyful music pieces.
I hesitated with a 3 because I find this record a tad overrated, it’s mostly covers, and more rnb than hip-hop. But damn, the relistened made me love it more. The raps are really good and there are some underrated tracks. I won't shame a perfect pop album for being a perfect pop album.
Not into this kind of prog rock anymore. Not sure I ever was actually.
I think I liked it better than Green River, and better than my first listen, probably because it's short and has more hits. I'm still not the biggest fan.
Great techno album. Maybe not my favorite Underworld work. Great to listen at home, to work or something, but not the best to dance.
Late discovery but one of the greats stones in soul and funk history. Papa Was A Rolling Stone is masterpiece, but all the tracks are good, with a nice blend of accessible soul, smooth jazz and psychedelism.
