1001 Albums Summary

I mean come on, it has Take Five, one of the most recognizable jazz pieces composed in the last 100 years. Overall a bit on the smooth side for me but not so much that I found myself wanting to skip.

It's sure Creedence. Roots-y rock. Warm, crunchy guitar this is nice but it is some 60s-ass rock

surprisingly decent mixing and mastering for an album of this genre from this era don't hate the guitar tone as much as I'd have thought I mean this album is a classic so there are some real terrible lyrics on here little too much rap rock tbh probably could've trimmed this one by a track or two

Neil Young is kinda cheeks This must've hit so hard if you were smoking the weakest joint in history. Sedan delivery is almost a punk song Into the Black is fine I guess. Nice guitar tone.

I mean come on now. Unfortunately still as relevant as ever. Some incredibly gnarly bass tones on this album. I can feel that shit scraping the frets.

Worse than the Beatles and worse than the Talking Heads. Don't really get this one.

There were things going on with music that were drastically more sonically interesting than this. Frankly forgettable 90s indie. This is apparently an offshoot of grunge but not a good one.

Fun millennial optimism.

Not my favorite from the Stones but still some bangers on here. That early fuzz tone is still to fucking kill for. Highlights: brown sugar, can't you hear me knocking

Aggressively fine Don't really care for her voice much, honestly. Kinda grating. I take it back, this is some cringe trash.

Almost bizarre how close this is to contemporary Megadeth at times. I really wish I could give half stars.

I think I missed the portion of life where this would've been integrated deeply into my brain. Very clean production, though. Punchy and clean. Some surprisingly good riffing on the more single-y songs on here. Bowie's voice and the overall direction really don't do much for me, unfortunately.

This is James Taylor. Short and sweet, pleasant little 70s folk rock album. Being mostly familiar with Taylor through Carole King I can see the influence of him in the arrangements in Tapestry.

The middest of mid. It's unclear to my why this is on this list outside of a purely historical context. We should shoot most records like this into the sun.

Not really my style but pleasant music to drive to and listen to casually nonetheless. Cuban music is uniquely identifiable.

This is nice. I like her voice and the production is fairly timeless. Most of these songs could be released today and sound contemporary.

A phenomenally interesting album but one that's more fun to listen to in concept than in practice. Really needs the visuals to go along with it if you're seriously thinking about listening to it straight through.

I don't really like anything about this album. The composition, arrangement, production. Self-indulgent and noisy without clear direction. Feels like the studio was lacking someone to tell the band no. I can appreciate a more downtempo or experimental album but this just meanders through relatively uninteresting ground for an hour, petering out into nothing for so long that it feels more like 2 hours. I know Blur was influential contemporarily but this album today feels like it's here off Song 2 alone.
