Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin

This was nice, though is it weird to say 1) I liked Physical Graffiti better and 2) I don’t reallyyy see the appeal of “Stairway to Heaven” (other than the fact that it was the Recognizable song)? I liked “Going to California” and “When the Levee Breaks” though!

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder

holy shit I’m so embarrassed to report that 1) I didn’t know “Don’t you worry about a thing” was originally a Stevie Wonder song and 2) I heard “Too High” and immediately was reminded of bill wurtz. bruh.

fun to listen to once, but I at least partially want interesting lyrics and these were lyrically not as interesting. “Night Train” was my favorite here!

Revolver by Beatles
Oct 03 2026

Apparently this is the more “psychedelic” of the Beatles albums; I feel like I’ll like the earlier ones more. Still, I saved quite a few songs from this one, and I’ve always enjoyed “Yellow Submarine”!

I actually rather enjoyed the dreamy, sometimes ethereal sounds of this album, which was surprising considering that I didn’t watch the movie or know anything about it. I wonder what the (historical? contextual?) rationale behind adding this soundtrack album to this 1001 album list is.

California by American Music Club
Oct 05 2026

The experience of listening to this album was really funny. I started out rather liking the instrumentals of the first few songs ("Firefly" in particular started out very promising), but the singer's voice (accent? enunciation?) was not doing it for me. Still, an overall 3-star. Then in the more high-energy / rock-like songs like "Lonely" where he tries to throw his voice, it just sounded strained in an uncharming way ... so okay, a 2-star .... and then finally the SLOG starting with "Bad Liquor" and *especially* "Jenny." :/

Metallica by Metallica

“Enter Sandman” - what a banger!! Although overall, Metallica is a bit tooo edgy for me lyrics- and soundscape-wise.

this was a surprising banger from a band I’ve never heard from before! This is also one of those albums where I like the first few songs alot more, and it makes me wonder if I’M the problem and I just get tired of the sound near the end. And then I check out the relative popularity of the songs to find that nope, it is indeed the first few songs that are the hits haha
