Who's Next by The Who
Sep 30 2026

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would as I am not a huge fan of Baba O’Riley and that’s what I associate this album with. Rest of the album surprised me, especially Love Ain’t for Keeping and The Song Is Over. The real standout though is Won’t Get Fooled Again. Haven’t heard it in a long long time and totally got chills hearing it again, absolute banger.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Oct 01 2026

Fairly enjoyed this given its early Beatles which I don’t really care for. It is a Beatles album after all though so it can’t be anything less than great. Standout tracks were A Hard Day’s Night (obviously) and my personal favourite Tell Me Why. Really can’t go wrong with The Beatles.

Parklife by Blur
Oct 02 2026

Definitely wasn’t expecting this to be so good. Something was telling me this would be a basic Brit pop album with not a lot going on. I was pleasantly proven wrong, this album has an excellent blend of somewhat psychedelic and silly instrumentals but keeping the raw Brit pop feel. Everything fits together nicely making a fun listening experience. Parklife feels like it sums up the British experience in an album. Almost every song is memorable and tells a story that most British people can relate to. The musicianship is great especially the bass playing. The mix feels huge and you can easily get immersed in the music. The album cover ties everything together and makes me think of a grimy council estate with the sickly colouring and loose dogs. The album is definitely targeted towards that kind of audience. It’s extremely difficult to choose a favourite song because they’re all excellent. Standout tracks though are definitely Girls and Boys, Tracy Jacks, London Loves, Magic America and Jubilee. Girls and Boys is a song that makes you want to get up, dance and sing along. It’s such a groovy tune and the bassline is funky as hell which I didn’t expect even though I have heard the song many times. Magic America feels like a very sarcastic take on how the English view America with the lyrics being about shopping malls and giant buildings and junk food. Jubilee looks at the life of a lazy teenager that does nothing all day which is the reality for lots especially today, almost everybody probably knows someone like this. The meanings behind the songs hold up well in today’s world which makes the album still feel fresh adding more to the immersion of the album. This is definitely the best Brit pop album I have heard as of yet.

The Cars by The Cars
Oct 03 2026

Very boring album in my opinion. The songs don’t really go anywhere and they’re not very interesting which is a shame because there’s a lot of potential for this to be good, more could have been done with the synths and the guitars don’t sound very good. I most likely won’t come back to this album but I would listen to Just What I Needed again, thats the best track on the album and quite a catchy tune but none others really appeal to me. The style of singing doesn’t really speak to me either it’s very monotonous and the lyrics don’t feel all that meaningful. Can’t complain about the mix though, whole album is very clear and you can pinpoint all the instruments.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Oct 04 2026

Probably the greatest grunge album of all time. Very few come close. Eddie Vedders voice and lyrics really steal the show here, so raw and emotional you really start to feel like Eddie Vedder yourself and the pain he’s been through. There’s a lot to unpack with the music but I’ll start by talking about how iconic the drums are on this album, you hear THAT groove and you know it’s PJ Ten. The only thing I would say is that I would like them to be a little more varied from song to song but it really makes little odds. It’s an absolute treat to hear fretless bass on a record and it’s done very rarely but on this album every song is done on a fretless minus a couple that were done on a 12 string. The lines are very creative with lots of sliding and harmonics going on and it really adds a whole new texture to the album. Jeff Ament absolutely tears it up. The guitars sound great and are played in excellently I have no complaints there. I love that you can hear the Hendrix influence on Mike McCready’s playing whilst it still stays distinctly him, it definitely makes for an engaging listening experience. Every song on the album is great in their own way not a single bad song although some would be a little off putting if they were out of the context of the album. It was very hard to choose a favourite because they’re all so good and I could speak about every single one. I had to go with Garden though, the song starts off very mellow and evolves into a euphoric masterpiece without it feeling disjointed and out of place. The singing really hits you during the chorus and fully immerses you in the song every single time. It’s only been the first week but I think I may have the first 5 star album right here. Ten has been a part of my life for years and it always comes back around when I need it. I think Ten may have even been the first CD I ever bought and I remember blasting it in the car the day I passed my test. Some of the best and some of the worst memories attached to this album and it has been a pivotal piece of music in my life.

Marquee Moon by Television
Oct 05 2026

In the nicest way possible this is background music. There wasn’t a lot that necessarily drew me in and the vocals aren’t to my taste. However the overall vibe of the music is good, happy but not upbeat, just a nice experience all together. My main gripe is that the guitar is very repetitive to the point it makes the songs kind of annoying, the solos are good though but that’s the only redeeming factor really. I had low expectations at first because all of the weakest songs on the album are at the start in my opinion and it only really starts picking up after the title track. Drums and bass sound pretty good though, very creative work going on with the drums and the bass fits the music really well which I like. I would come back to this album if I was looking for something mellow to put on when meeting with friends or having a drink or two, but I wouldn’t listen again if I wanted to purely listen to music, it’s just not interesting enough in my opinion. The best songs are definitely Guiding Light and Prove It. Those songs feel like they go somewhere a whole lot better than the others. The last song is a great ending, with the way it fades off at the very end it really makes you reflect on the album which is very effective. Overall not bad but not good, it just exists.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Oct 06 2026

Decent album. Although there are a few things that I dislike. First of all the instrumental parts drag on for far too long and causes me to lose interest quickly. And what is going on with the vocals on Running Dry, it almost makes the song unlistenable for me. The first half of the album is definitely the best but it really starts to lag towards the end only picking up at the very end of the last song. The instruments sound really good, it’s produced quite well and everything is crystal clear which I think you need for acoustic guitar especially. I quite like Neil Youngs voice, it suits the acoustic songs nicely but on Cinnamon Girl his voice doesn’t really suit the rock and roll kind of style so I think he should stick to acoustic songs. The actual playing on Cinnamon Girl is really good though that’s probably what the band excels at. Therefore I don’t think Neil Young and the band mesh particularly well, it’s definitely an interesting sound but not one that captivates me. I don’t think this album is bad and I would probably come back to it, it’s kind of a pleasant listen. Best song is surely the title track. It doesn’t drag out with the instrumentals and the guitars sit quite nicely in the music. The vocals sound excellent especially with the harmonies. I think that’s all I have to say, this is a pretty decent album overall.

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Oct 07 2026

First track is good but is kind of hard to hear, can’t really tell what it is, maybe the distortion on the guitar but there is something that makes the track really unintelligible. Second track has the same problem but now I’m realising that it could just be part of the charm. Ok yeah that’s the whole point of the album pretty much. Don’t think I like it, some of the songs are good though, and a little clearer. I can see the appeal but just not for me. This is really not the kind of thing I like, I much prefer a crystal clear mix where you can hear everything clearly and separately (not everything in one giant mixing bowl where it all gets lost and becomes a murky, disgusting, concoction). However a lot of the songs do capture that melancholy feeling that I think they were going for and quite well at that. If I was a depressed 16 year old girl I would probably love it. I have been listening to it at quite a loud volume which a lot of the reviews suggest, but I think it would sound a lot better to my ears at a low volume where the lead instruments and vocals can stick out a lot more and have that awful fuzzy guitar hide in the background. I would probably listen to this again in the future to see if my opinion changes and I would listen at a quieter volume because I think it would make a big odds. When You Sleep and Sometimes are the best songs mainly because you can hear what’s going on. The vocals and lead instruments/synths sound clear and you get a better impression that they are actually songs. Both of those songs capture the idea of this album while being pleasant to listen to. I think the distortion on the guitar of Sometimes sounds excellent and it fits into the mix quite well whilst still being loud and obnoxious, in a good way. When You Sleep is just a stronger song in general, especially in terms of the structure and sound of the music. This album might not be for me but I know a lot of people that would love it.

Very interesting listening experience. Didn’t expect it to sound so indie. Nevertheless there’s lot going on here and it’s so much more than basic indie music. The instruments sound awesome and everything about them is great in general. I will probably come back to this album because I’ve discovered that I quite like the sound of indie. Gonna be honest I’ve been quite stoned listening to this and pretty much the only track that caught my attention was Forgotten Works, so that’ll be my pick for the best song. It’s very groovy and cool and I really like it.
