Cool ass ladies doing cool ass rock in a cool ass city.

I find it actually kind of annoying that there was no Runaways/Joan Jett on the original list because I'm relying on it to fill in the blanks in my musical history knowledge. This feels like a great way to get to know the band, though; along with Heart, they helped define female-fronted 70s rock in a way that feels like it still has resonance now; they bring a sense of fun to this cocksure and occasionally very silly genre.

Some outstanding 70s live rock n roll. The Runaways were the real deal. 4 stars.

Live In Japan is the only live album of all female hard rock band The Runaways. Submitting a live album instead of one of the four studio albums feels like cheating. The album also consists for a big part out of cover songs (5 out of 12). These covers are rather weak. “Wild Thing” and “Rock & Roll” are by far the worst versions I ever heared of these songs. The own material is ok, but the only outstanding one (in composition and performance) is "Gettin' Hot". All in all not a very interesting record, though the sound quality is good and it really captures the spirit of a live performance.

It's fine.

It's fine.

Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Queens of noise, I wanna be where the boys are, Cherry bomb

Sucesión de canciones pop-rock con estilo y ganas de mover el esqueleto. Canciones de todo tipo, así como variadas en intensidad y en conocimiento general. No es malo, pero le han faltado cosas.

Decent live album, incredible how clean the guitar sounded for recording methods of the time. Did expect some more energy from this band given their oeuvre, but this was still a fun listen.

I appreciate this album more as I listened to it 5 decades later. The boldness of Jett and the Runaways was so very fresh for the time. Saw her in concert a few years ago and she was still a strong voice rocker.

I love The Runaways, but I don't love live albums.

Another “so 3-stars it’s actually 2 stars” kind of thing. just unbelievably meat and potatoes 70s rock

Definitely a cool live album. Runaways can rock

This band occupied a very vague niche of awareness in my mind, so I was curious if any of it would be familiar. Other than Cherry Bomb and the covers, no. Quite ahead of its time, better played than sung (though it is live, and not a flattering mix for the vocals, and it's clear the singers are gamely pushing to the limits of their vocal ranges, so I'd mostly give that a pass). Otherwise just good heavy rock-n-roll. Extra point for a Velvets cover.

As ever with a live album, I have to start by saying that with the exception of Stop Making Sense and maybe one or two others, I hate live albums. That being said, this one is fun. I'd have preferred to have had an actual Runaways album—I don't think there was one on the original list, if there was I don't recall—but it was fun pop-punk performed very well by capable performers, so, win.

I’m not a fan of live albums, but this was enjoyable good female rock.

1977 live release by the Runaways (Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherrie Currie, etc.) Standout: Gettin' Hot I'm not a fan of live albums in general. I think I would have preferred the Debut album over this one, but this one does have Gettin' Hot - which I thought was the highlight of the album. 3.5 / 5

CHERRY BOMB !!! 2 Funny that their main fanbase was in Japan
