One star for excessive language & disrespect to women. The music etc was just ok for me as well. Don't get me wrong I love rap, hip-hop etc, but only if it is good. This was NOT good.
Not really the kind of music that I choose to listen to but, this is a very nice album. I like his version of Crusin' but it isn't unique enough from the original Smokey Robinson version to make it stand out. It is nice that he is able to bring the song to a new generation of fans. 2/5
Pueblo Nuevo is a nice jazz song. I enjoyed Dos gardenias. Buena Vista Social Club (Song) was nice. Overall, not for me.
LIstened to it a few times. I know the title-track and might have heard Do You Realize before. Everything else was new to me. Has some interesting sounds, but overall, it isn't something that grabbed me. Standout tracks: Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Part I. Fight Test, Do You Realize.
I've known this album for years, but only listened to a few tracks. This time I put the headphones on and listened to it all. Intensely. The well-known tracks are great and sound even better when listening so intensely. Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion are the two songs I knew. The rest were new to me. Toys in the Attic - Great start to the song. What a way to kick off the album. Uncle Salty - Loved it. Adam's Apple. ... She ate it... It was love at first bite! Cool. Walk this way - MEGA-Classic. Big Ten Inch Record - I like the groove! Now whip out your big ten-inch.... record. Sweet Emotion - Classic. Perfect. No More No More - It's alright.... You See Me Crying - I love Rock ballads. Steven Tyler's vulnerable side. Nice, not great, but nice way to end the album. Stand Out Tracks: Walk This Way Sweet Emotion Uncle Salty Big Ten Inch Record
I'm not much of a fan of Jane's addiction. The lead singer's voice doesn't work for me. The music itself is mostly great if played loud. Enjoyable, but not great for me. I'm sure other's love it and and I have no problem with that. I'm sure if I listen again sometime in the future maybe it will capture me more than it did this listen.
Such a great album. When this album came out I was obsessed with Alanis Morissette. The mid-to-late 90s belonged to her. Every song on this album may not be perfect (only one is actually) but it is SO good and it just brings back so many memories...it is a solid 5/5 for me. Standouts: You Oughtta Know, Perfect, Hand in My Pocket, You Learn, Ironic, Right Through You, Head Over Feet. And in case you are wondering the one perfect song, is "Perfect". But You Oughtta Know that right?
One of their best. And they have had some great albums. This was the first one I bought from them. I have them all now, It is pretty great, start to finish.
5/5. Classic. In 2022 it will be 50 years great. Standouts: Highway Star Smoke on the Water Space Truckin' Lazy
I am a huge Queen fan, but this is one of those albums I know the least, so this was a great opportunity to listen to it thoroughly. When the movie Baby Driver came out I remember listening to Brighton Rock over and over again. That was a great movie and I became a fan of the song too. The rest of the album is still growing on me. Standouts: Killer Queen Brighton Rock Lily of the Valley & Dear Friends
Hard not to give this a perfect 5/5. So many great songs and a few pretty good ones mixed in. RIP Kurt.
4.5 / 5. Bye, Bye Love is a horrible addition to this album. Everything else is great.
Seemed to go on forever. I like the music, but not so much all at once. I got tired of it.
Jam-packed with classic Beatles masterpieces. I'm a Beatles fan, but I love the White Album, Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road much more than this one.
Big fan of deez guys! This album need more listening time from me to increase the star rating.
I like Traffic, but this one is one that needs many more listens to appreciate.
An eclectic mix of musical styles from Disco to Punk Rock. The album seemed pleasing, but since this was a first listen for me, it didn't grab me right away. Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll is a song that I've heard before and recognized it right away. I had no idea previously, who sang it or when it was from. Stand Out Songs: Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll
Solid three stars for now, maybe upon further listens this can be a 4 star album.
One great song. I used to listen to this quite a bit when it came out. I don't remember most of the songs now.
1st listen. Don't know any of the songs, heard of the Wu Tang Clan... Need to listen more.
I don't like the language, but the music is phenomenal. What a talent. Really enjoyed this. Listened to it at least three times today and just keeps getting better.
Never heard this album before. It seems ok, I'm giving it a 2/5 for now. We'll see if it gets better with time. Nothing stood out to me on this album.
Half of this album is a solid 4. But overall, I'm giving it a 3/5.
One star for excessive language & disrespect to women. The music etc was just ok for me as well. Don't get me wrong I love rap, hip-hop etc, but only if it is good. This was NOT good.
Don't know the album. Hear one other by Love on this "Albums to listen to before you die" series. I do like the sound of this one. "7 and 7 is" is a nice pre-pre-punk sound. I can see why other punk bands have recorded it. Not bad. Revelation almost gives me a "Doors"/"Jim Morrison" feel. Interesting because this came out before anyone ever heard of the Doors. Stand outs: Orange Skies, Que Vida! The Castle, She Comes in Colors. This is a 3/5 for me. Which is a "good rating" for an album I hear for the first time. I can see this one growing on me and just getting stronger. I smell a 4/5 in its future.
Very good. Not a big Elvis fan. Overall 3/5 Standouts: I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin'), Blue Moon, and Blue Suede Shoes.
Interesting sound. First listen for me. Never heard of them before. I like it more than I thought. Heard it several times today. 2/5 for now...
I have no idea how this is a "must listen to" album. It is very average at best. Never heard of this group, never heard of any of the songs. Maybe it gets better with time, but for me, it has to be a 1/5 for now.
5/5. Know this album so well. It is a masterpiece. Every song is great.
3/5. A few really great songs, the rest have a familiar sound, even though I don't know the songs. You Better Run? Really? I thought that was a Pat Benetar song! Standouts: How Can I be Sure? Groovin' You Better Run, A Place in the Sun.
I have three accounts, and this is the third listen for me. The first two times I gave this album a 3/5 stars rating. I had never heard of her before. Now, I'm kind of a fan. This album is pretty great. Solid 4/5 now.
First listen. Never heard of them before. I like the sound for the most part. I think this one will grow on me with time. Good alternative rock. 2/5 (for now).
5/5. Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands ever. All songs are amazing.
Know this album well. One of my favorites from the Genre. 5/5. Standouts: So What, Freddie Freeloader
First Listen. Reminds me of De La Soul's Three Feet High and Rising... Love it. I'm giving this a 3/5 (which for me on first listen) is very high.
Know and love CCR. Some really great classics on this album. It almost feels like a Greatest Hits album, but it isn't. This is a solid 5/5. Classic. Love it.
If this was a single LP it would be a strong 5 stars. A lot of great songs on this one.
Second listen. Very nice music to have on in the background. Really enjoying the music.
Second Listen. 2/5 for me this time. I think it's good, but need to hear more.
I thought Greatest Hits albums weren't part of the deal for this collection of albums? That is what this kind of is, isn't it? Don't get me wrong, it's great music, and I enjoyed it.
First Listen. Nothing special here. One good song. One. The rest seemed just blah to me. I'll give it another chance someday but for now, 1/5
First Listen. Really like some of the songs. I'm excited to hear this one again. It is listed as Alternative Country / Alternative Rock. I feel more alternative rock than country on many songs, others the country comes through. Very nice. 2/5 Standouts: Misunderstood.
The more I hear this one the more I like it. Second Listen. 4/5. Black Sabbath. Evil Woman. The Wizard. NI.B.
Rehab is a great song. The rest of the album is solid. My first time listening to this one. Like to hear more. 2/5 for now. Promising though.
One of the best in the Genre. Heard this many times when it came out. Was really glad to hear it again today. Still as good as ever. 4/5.
Not your typical Beach Boys sound, but this is really nice. I really enjoyed the songs. I think after hearing it more the rating will go up quite a bit. Right now I'll give it a 3/5 for first listen. Stand Outs: Disney Girls (I always loved the Art Garfunkel version, and didn't know it was originally a Beach Boys song).
First Listen. Very good. Like to hear more. Low 2/5 for now. Standout is Runaway. This is an amazing song, start to finish. I think I may have heard it before, because it sounded familiar but when it started I was totally focused on it the whole time.
First listen. I think this is my favorite Bob Dylan album. This one will only get better with time. Standouts: Make You Feel My Love 3/5.
First Listen. Never heard of this band before. Listened a few times today. This is really good. The songs felt so familiar and comfortable by the end of the night - I knew this was something special. 3/5 (for a first listen, that is a great score).
First listen. Love other Zappa albums. Not getting this one though.
First Listen. I wish I understood Portuguese because I think the lyrics have to be as amazing as the melodies. This album has such an amazing, calming presence. This is one of those albums I would have never listened to in my life. So I am grateful that it is on this list so I did get the chance to hear it. I can't wait to listen to more of it in the future. My rating may seem low for now, but I know this album will only go up as I listen to it more. 2.5/5
First Listen. I am sure back in the 60's this might have been something. but, to hear it now in 2021 for the first time. It kind of loses something. It does have some good sounds, so I'll give it a chance again in the future. 2/5 for now.
Second listen. First was a 2/5 the first time and stays a 2/5 for me this time. It is fine, it's really good music. Just not exciting for me.
First Listen. I know a couple of the songs. The rest of the album seems solid. 2/5
Second Listen. Becoming a very familiar album to me. Some call this album 'boring' but, it is not. It is a comfortable album. I enjoyed it from start to finish and look forward to hearing it again. First listen I gave this a 2/5, now it is a solid 3/5.
Albums like this can be difficult. You really have to be in the right mood. I'd say for the genre, it was quite good and better than expected. I'd enjoy hearing it again sometime when the mood is right. For me just 2/5 for now though.
Produced by Brian Eno. Something really good about this album. At first, I thought it was just another boring (mostly) instrumental album, but this one caught me by surprise. I really enjoyed it. Like to hear it again. 3/5 Standouts: Penguin Cafe Single
Loved the first massive attack album I seen on here. This one, not yet. 2/5
First Listen. I know a couple of the songs, but the rest is new to me. Love it on first listen. Standouts: The Message, Scorpio, It's Nasty, It's a Shame 3/5
First listen. Never heard of her before. Nothing stood out to me on first listen. Need to hear more.
First listen. Not my style of music. Good for background, study music though.
First Listen. Never heard of them before. Definitely a sound I like. Very enjoyable album. I'll listen to this one again. 2/5 for now.
Second Listen. It's funny because I like Kate Bush. This album doesn't do it for me except one song: This Woman's Work. Reminds of the end of the movie: She's Having a Baby. Great. Standouts: This Woman's Work.
Not the first time I've heard this album. It is great. Every song is great. I love the progressive soul sounds! Solid 4/5.
First Listen. Don't know the band at all. I was expecting something more 'hardcore', but I'm happy that this wasn't another metal band. I really hear a David Bowie influence when I listened to it. Does this mean they are not original? Just listening to the music and taking it for what it is, I think it isn't bad. But, at this point, I'm not sold on it. Like to hear more. 2/5
First listen. This is my kind of music. Never heard of them before though. I enjoyed it and like to hear more of it in the future. 2/5 for now.
Second listen. Still loud. Still hard to listen to. You really have to be in the mood for this kind of music to enjoy. The music is much more enjoyable than the screaming. 2/5
Second list within the past two weeks. Gave it a 2/5 then and still just a 2/5 for me now. I will say that I am enjoying it more this time than last time, but not enough right now. I can see this being a 3/5 sometime in the future.
First listen. I like Yes, first I heard of this album though. After listening to it a few times, I'm not feeling it yet. 2/5 for now.
Quite a few big, well known songs. The rest seem pretty good as well. I like it. 3/5 for now (First listen).
First Listen. Morrissey's voice: good or annoying. Couple good songs. Need to hear more. 2/5.
Well, that was interesting. Enjoyed this one more with headphones on and no distractions. Amazing sounds and sampling. Love to hear more. For now, first listen, a strong 2/5.
I know the song Street Life. The rest is just nice funky jazz. No problems with it at all. I look forward to hearing more of it. First Listen. 2/5
First listen. I know a lot of people are fans. I'm not getting it yet. Nice music, but nothing special.
Knew this album when it came out. It hasn't aged well, but is still enjoyable. Half the songs are good, the other half are pretty bad.
Changes and Life on Mars are great classic Bowie songs. First time hearing the rest of the album. 3/5
One of the easiest 5/5 I can give. Love this album. Heard it at least a thousand times over the years.
First Listen. Drive is the only song I knew before listening. It seems like a decent album.
First listen. Very interesting album. I need more listens to this one. I think this one will be rated higher in future listens but for now it is a 2/5.
I recognize the name, but I have never heard any of her music before. I love her sound though and I will definitely listen to more of her. This is my first listen. Absolutely love it, but need to hear it more! 3/5 for now.
First Listen. Besides the couple of songs that I knew, I didn't enjoy much of the rest of the album. It really isn't my kind of music. I do think that Work It is one of the best of the genre - so props to her for that one! 2/5
First listen. Nothing stands out to me on this album. Every song is very forgettable. Maybe it will get better next time I hear it. 2/5 for now.
Second Listen. Starting to really grow on me. I wasn't crazy about it the first time I heard it. 3/5
Second Listen. Still very enjoyable. There she goes is a perfect Alternative song. The rest of the album is still growing on me. Some of the songs have a modern 60's feel to them. So many great songs on this album. 3/5
Some albums are just nice and nothing more. For me this is one of them. My second time having this one come up in my daily listen. 2/5
An old-style that is hard to listen to for the first time in 2021. It's fine, and I'm sure it was great back in '65. 2/5
Haven't heard this one in a long time. It surprised me how good it was. I thought it was just a bunch of pop hits, but the music is good. 5/5
First listen. Pretty good for scream rock. 2/5
First listen. Bitter Sweet Memories has always been a favorite of mine. Never heard the rest of the album. I really like Sonnet as well. The rest of the album just kept getting better throughout the day. 2/5 for now.
The oldest son of Feli Kuti, Femi Kuti is just as talented! There are just some days when this is the perfect thing to listen to - today, for me, was one of those days. So glad to welcome this album into my life. I absolutely loved this album and I can't wait to get to know it better.
Some great songs on this album: Sweet Dream, Love is a Stranger but I think Jennifer stands out as my favorite. The Walk was enjoyable as well. Great sound. 3/5.
I've enjoyed many other Van Morrison albums more than this one. It might take a bit longer to appreciate this one. 2/5.
First Listen. There are a few truly great songs on this album. The rest of the album was unknown to me. 3/5
Lambchop? Never heard of them. But, you know what? I really like it. It is an interesting sound. I don't think it feels country or even alternative country at all. I think the songs seemed a big on the dull side the first time I heard it but they really started growing on me. The tone and feeling of the album is quite nice. Lyrically, it sounds like a hodgepodge of nonsense at times, but if you read between the lines you can get of gist of what they are saying (sometimes). Interesting none-the-less. I'm giving it only a 2/5 for now, but I am sure that will go up with further listens.
It's pretty good. But, nothing I would listen to outside of this list.
Such an old style. I'm sure is was good back in the day. 2/5
Oh Leonard, the Darker the better! Cheers brother, I'm sure you are up there still singing. Thanks for all you gave us.
I like the Sex Pistols, I like PIL, but this album... I didn't know it even existed... hard one to enjoy. Maybe after I listen a few more times... 2/5
Never heard of him before but his music sounds familiar. Either he is doing someone else's style or they are all doing his. Good for what it is. 2/5
Definitely my kind of music. Need to hear more of it. For sure. 2/5.
2nd listen. I'm really beginning to enjoy this album. Standouts: I'll Come Running, Sky Saw, St. Elmo's Fire, Zawinul Lava (sounds very much like the "song" from his ambient music album).
Ms. Jackson was the first Outkast songs I remember hearing from them. I loved it. What a great and unique sound they had. So Fresh and So Clean was pretty good too, BoB ok. This was the first time I heard the album though. They have a great sound. The explicit lyrics bring it down a peg for me though. Still a really great album. 3/5.
I really thought I was going to love this, but, honestly, I didn't. None of these songs stand out to me at all. I'm shocked. Maybe on another day, I'll like it more. 2/5
Better than most rap. Never heard of this guy before. His use of the Billy Squire song is good.
It's ok for an old style of music that just doesn't work anymore. 2/5.
One of my least favorite Tom Waits' albums. I don't get it. 2/5
Great album. 4/5. Standouts: No Sleep till Brooklyn, Fight For Your Right, Brass Monkey, Girls, Rhymin & Stealin', Hold it Now, Hit it, She's Crafty, Paul Revere.
The first time I heard this, I thought it was an odd album to have on a list like this, but it is starting to grow on me. Getting better each time I hear it. 3/5.
The Killing Moon is a great song. The rest of the album seems pretty good. I'd enjoy hearing this one again. 2/5 for now.
Not my favorite White Strips album, but there are a handful of gems on it.
3rd listen. 4/5. Some great Otis classics like I've Been Lovin' You Too Long, Respect (which Aretha Franklin's version became a classic). and Satisfaction (his version of the Rolling Stones classic is unique and soulful). Other Notable songs: You Don't Miss Your Water, Down in the Valley, Change Gonna Come, Rock me Baby, Wonderful World, and My Girl.
Tighten Up - great. Howlin' For You - great. Others: Everlasting Light Good sound. 3/5
Not really the kind of music that I choose to listen to but, this is a very nice album. I like his version of Crusin' but it isn't unique enough from the original Smokey Robinson version to make it stand out. It is nice that he is able to bring the song to a new generation of fans. 2/5
This is a really great album. I have heard a couple of the songs before the rest were 'new' for me. There are a lot of cover versions on the album mixed with a couple of Johnny Cash originals. His cover versions are amazing - especially Hurt. Standouts: Hurt, I Hung My Head, In My Life, The Man Comes Around, Danny Boy, Desperado, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. 4/5
2nd listen. Some true classics. Great sound and style. 3/5
One of the best live albums in rock. 3/5 Standouts: Surrender, I Want You to Want Me. Aint That a Shame. Others: Big Eyes, Goodnight Now From the full concert CD: Speak Now, California Man, Downed, Oh Caroline
It's pretty good, but not exactly what I listen to. I think once I become more familiar with it, it will be better. 2/5 for now. Best songs: Shapes of Things, Morning Dew, You Shook Me, Beck's Bolero,
2nd listen. Wish I liked it more than I do. It's good, but not that great for me. 3/5
First time I ever heard of Grizzly Bear. Songs I liked: All We Ask. For now a 2/5, but I think it is better than that.
Second Listen. Standouts: If You Think You're Lonely Now Others: Just My Imagination, Where Do We Go From Here
2nd Listen. Really starting to enjoy this one. 3/5 "side 1" is better than "side 2" but overall still really good.
Third Listen. janis Joplin is great, the album is ok. 3/5
First time hearing the album. I have heard to Tito Puente, but was not familiar with the music. I definitely enjoyed it. Not something I would listen to outside of this list though. Still it has a great sound and puts you in a good mood. 3/5
Not a big fan of this kind of music anymore, but I did really think it was pretty good. If I am ever in the mood for something like this, I'll definitely think of it. 3/5
Need to hear it again. I think it is pretty nice. 2/5 for now.
2nd listen. Interesting album. Some good songs and some great songs. 4/5 Standouts: Coconut, Gotta Get Up, Without You, Others: Driving Along, Early in the Morning, Moonbeam Song, Let the Good Times Roll, Jump into the Fire. Down
3rd Listen. Great album. Brings back a lot of memories of the times. :) 4/5
WOW. Incredible album. First time hearing it. I think I'm an instant fan of Nick Cave. Great voice and tone. The songs are all amazing. I can see this one becoming a favorite of mine in the near future. Standouts: Into My Arms, People Ain't No Good, Lime Tree Arbour, 3.5 / 5
Never Mind the rest of the Punk in this list, Here's the Sex Pistols! Now, this is good punk rock. Absolute classic! 4.5/5
First time hearing this one from an artist I have loved for years. Really love the song "Borrowed Tune" (it's a 5/5). 3/5
Second Listen. One of the most interesting (in a bizarre way) albums on the list. I don't think any one song stands out, they are all fairly equal to me. I have a favorable opinion of the album this time around, not sure if I think it is worthy of the list, but I enjoyed it. 3/5
One of their finest. Standouts: It's the End of the World, The One I Love, Finest Worksong, Fireplace. Really every song is memorable. 4/5
Early Beatles' albums have too many covers. Do they make the album better or worse? I prefer the true Beatles songs. There are some good ones. This is one of my least favorite Beatles albums. That being said it is still very good. 4/5
One of the best albums of the decade. Packed with great songs, this album is a pleasure from start to finish. Standouts: Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Roll with It, Morning Glory. Others: all the rest! A very strong 4/5. (Note: I don't give 5's to just a TRULY great album that has survived the test of time. )
I want to give it a 4/5, I really enjoy it, but by the end I am a little tired of her voice and tone. 3.5/5.
Fell in love with this album when I got it back in 1982. I loved the sound of the song, IGY and quickly the rest of this album became a classic to me. I am grateful that the extended version contains True Companion from Heavy Metal (Soundtrack) and Century's End from the Bright Lights, Big City Soundtrack were included. I really think these two songs complete the album quite well. This is a rare 5/5 from me.
First time hearing of this guy. I really like it. I want to hear more of it. 3/5
Nut Rocker is a classic. Interesting Classical Rock sound. I can see why people like it. 3/5 for me now. Definitely one I'll keep in my playlist for a while. I think it will grow on me.
Hmmmm. Never heard of this before. Need to hear it again to know if I like it….
Never heard of Nick Cave before starting this project, now I've heard a couple of his albums and I think I'm a fan. Love the sound, style and music. 3/5 for now because I need to hear more of it.
Really great. Enjoyed it. I knew the first song, that was it.
It's nice, but not my kind of music. 2/5. Too much old country twang for my liking.
Never heard of them before. Seems ok on first listen. Stand outs: Range Life, Cut Your Hair, Gold Soundz. 2.5/5
Classic. 4/5 I don't think that L'America ever stood out to me as one of the best songs on this album until now. There are the typical standards on this album that everyone who knows classic rock will know: Riders on the Storm, LA Woman and Love her Madly. Then there are the others like The WASP, that true Doors fans know and love. There really isn't a bad song on the album. Standouts: Riders on the Storm, L'America. Love Her Madly, L.A. Woman,
I got this album as a gift back in the early 80s. I knew Rock Lobster, the rest was new (to me) at the time. I immediately loved it. It really brings back memories. The LP I had skipped during Dance this Mess Around and it would loop on one track over and over again. I actually recorded the skipping version to a cassette… eventually, the album self-corrected and the skip went away. Every time I hear that song, it makes me think of the loop, and I heard it in my head…. The album is great, start to finish. I think Wild Planet (their next album) is just as good, if not better. Glad to see this one (at least) on the list. 5/5.
Green Onions is a great song. Rinky Dink is a decent cover. Mo Onions is just a continuation of Green Onions and It's good. The rest of the album contains cover versions of other popular songs around the time this album came out. If there were more original material like Green Onions I can see this being worthy of being on this list, but with a bunch of covers, it hardly makes the cut for me. Still enjoyable, just not great. 3/5.
2.5/ 5 at best. It's definitely nothing special. I think a couple of the songs are better than the rest, but overall, it isn't for me. I'm glad there are folks that enjoy it.
Classic. 4/5. Standouts: Maggy May, Amazing Grace, I'm Losing You, Reason to Believe.
Really great album. Never heard this before (except for Bowie's version of China Girl. Standouts: Sister Midnight, Nightclubbing,
Really good. But, it is just a bunch of already well-known standards that he's singing. Nothing original here. It's good, but I can't give it more than 3/5.
The song Marquee Moon is definitely the highlight of the album - that guitar riff is addicting. The rest of the album seems good, but doesn't compare to Marquee Moon.
Loaded with classics. 3.5/5 because I don't know the entire album that well.
Not for me. I tried to listen to it and give it a chance, but there was just nothing there. No interest in ever hearing it again. 1/5
Not my favorite era for the Kinks, but it's still good stuff. 3/5
Kind of an interesting listen. It isn't bad at all and I found myself singing along with it after a few listens... I don't think it is great, but it was worth spending time with. 3/5
Not a fan of K.D. Lange but this is good one! Constant Craving is a classic The rest of the album is high quality. Good Music. 3/5
This album is fine. I'd say that their best two albums are Hotel California and The Long Run. Why the Long Run isn't on this list is a mystery to me. When it comes to their next best album it is a toss-up between Eagles, Desperado, On the Border, and One of These Nights. Standouts: Peaceful Easy Feelin', Take it Easy, Witchy Woman. 3.5/5
No. Why is this on the list? He has like two songs and the rest are covers. Nothing original…. 2/5.
Kinky Afto was pretty catchy. The rest of the album seems ok. I think this one will take longer for me to get to know. It is my kind of music - just never heard it before. For now, I'll give it 2.5/5...
When you're in the right mood, this can be a great one to get your blood pumping. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Not what I normally listen to though. 3/5
Great Funk album. Standout: One Nation Under A Groove 3.5/5
Yes! First time hearing the album. I do know a few of the songs. This is really great. Can’t wait to hear it again. Standouts: London’s Burning, Police and Thieves From the US release: I Fought The Law 3.5/5
I came into this project already a big Leonard Cohen fan, so it was nice to see him being recognized with several albums. This album is right up there with the others. First We Take Manhattan is a great song that many already know, or recognize. It makes a great introduction to an amazing album. Standouts: First We Take Manhattan, The Tower Song, I'm Your Man, Take This Waltz, Everybody Knows 4.5/5
Good, but WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too long. Come on, guys. Enough already. 3/5
Haven't heard this album before. There were no songs on it that I knew either. Elvis Costello just isn't as popular in the USA as he is in the UK. Given that. I really loved this album. I need to hear more of it to justifyr a better rating. For now, I'll give it a solid 3/5. I am sure this will go higher in future listens.
You can definitely hear the Brian Eno touch on this one. One of the better Talking Heads Albums. 3/5
"Don't Worry 'bout a thing. Every little thing is gonna be alright. " This is a good one! The first four songs are fine, but they don't compare to the rest of the album. Songs 5-10 are exceptional. Three Little Birds is my all-time favorite. Classics: Exodus, Jamming, Waiting in Vain, Three Little Birds, One Love/People Get Ready. 4/5
I've heard this album before, but none of the songs were anything I had heard on the radio before so I didn't give it much credit. But, after listening to it now, I really think I enjoyed it and need to keep listening to it. My favorite track is Changes, followed by Supernaut and FX. 3.5 / 5
3.5 / 5 Most was new to me. Of course, the world knows Come on Eileen and I always loved that song. Classic: Come on Eileen Other standouts: Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven), Until I Believe in My Soul, Very Good: The Celtic Soul Brothers, Let's Make This Precious, All in All,
Best Trip-Hop album ever? Ok, I've only heard a few but this is tops for me. Absolutely loved the vibe and sounds of this album. This is why I love the 1001 albums list - because of gems like this that I would have never heard otherwise. The album cover really threw me off... So, I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't a cheesy Rap album. I don't think there are any songs that stand out as exceptional, the entire album seems like one seamless work of art best-enjoyed start to finish. 4/5
Never even heard of these guys before. Some good songs.
"OK' is just that, OK. I didn't get anything from this one. I've heard it before and it didn't get any better this time around. 2/5.
This is one of the albums on this list that I know well already. I think every song is great and it is enjoyable from start to finish. "The extra instrumental track at the end of 'Billy's Bot A Gun' has been called either 'The March Of The Dreaded Zultrons' or 'The March Of The Wooden Zombies' by different band members. The sound is Rick Allen putting random numbers into a Linn drum machine, later added to by the band and Mutt" (http://www.deflepparduk.com/album3.html) Classics: Photograph, Rock Rock, Too Late For Love, Foolin', Rock of Ages,. 4.5/5
Brilliant. 5/5 Standouts: Synchronicity I, Walking in your Footsteps, Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Synchronicity II The rest of the songs are exceptional as well: Mother, Tea In the Sahara, Miss Gradenko and O My God. I had the LP of this album growing up so new to me is the bonus song: Murder by Numbers. But, I have to admit, after hearing it, it did sound familiar.
Really enjoyed this album. So many great songs, one right after the other. 4/5
Nice. Great voice. Such an old style but it is still very enjoyable. Stanouts: Jackie, Next, Plastic Palace People, and my favorite track The Girls and The Dogs. 3/5
Sound a lot like the other Nick Drake albums…. Which is a good thing. 2.5/5
Wow. Old school. Blast from the past. Loved it.
Waaaaayyyyy better than expected. Enjoyed this one very much. The language is a bit distracting at times, but compared to music today it is quite tame. Overall, I think it was definitely worth listening to. 3.5 / 5
Tina really did a fine job on this album. Full of really good songs. 4/5 Standouts: Private Dancer, I Can't Stand the Rain, What's Love Got to Do With it?, Let's Stay Together. Others: 1984, Better Be Good To Me, Help! (From the International Version)
Sympathy For the Devil is ultra-classic. Street Fighting Man is exceptional. The rest of the album is "new" to me. The Stones are an amazing band and they have been making music for 60 years. Think about that.... I'll need to hear more of this! 3.5/5
Very repetitive. Each song sound like a repetitive loop, played over and over again - repetitively. (Notice how repetitive I was there?) Not one song really stood out as unique or interesting. It is worth playing in the background when you don't care what you're listening to, so, I give it a 2 of 5
Such a great sound. Never heard the entire album before, it stands out far ahead of other first listens for me. Standout: Sultans of Swing.
Great album. Don’t know it as much as I should. What i have heard is excellent. 3.5/5
2.5 / 5. First listen. When I first started listening, I really wasn't impressed. But, as the day has gone on, I am starting to get into it.
3.5 / 5 Solid air is a solid album. Great sounds. Love to hear more of this one in the future.
Really? Not my new favorite band, but it was enjoyable. Like to hear more of this one. 2.5/5
3.5 / 5 Heard this one before. The more I hear it the better it gets.
Ok...what the F&^% was that? Most of the album isn't music. The tracks that can be called music are 'interesting' but does that make it good? Is this something I want to listen to?
Never been a motorhead fan. I had always heard OF them but never heard them. I was definitely into this kind of music later in the 1980s and I think this album was just ahead of my time, so that is why I missed it. Ace of Spades is definitely an easy song to call the 'star' of the album. The rest of the album definitely sounds like my kind of music. It's a shame it took this long for me to hear it. 3/5
