I Love You Jennifer B, meh. Did nothing for me, another art pop record people tell you you're supposed to like because it's made some some middle-class drama school berks rather than it actually being good.

I Love You Jennifer B is the debut (and until now only studio) album by experimental pop and electronica band Jockstrap. One one way or the other they achieve to create songs that should consistent and coherent in several aspect while the compositions are at the same time breaking apart in digital glitches and chaos. Georgia Ellery (also from Black Country New Road) sings and plays violin. She is the main composer, while Taylor Skye lays down the weird synthesizer and electronica sounds. This results in music that is weird in a great way with amazing vocals and the bleeps and scratches you need.

Occasionally interesting. I occasionally really like her voice. An odd little album. Terrible name for a musical act b

Art pop. No me ha gustado. Un 2.

I listened to this when it came out and it didn’t leave much of an impression on me. Two listens today haven’t really changed that. I can appreciate the musicality and how inventive it is, but nothing really clicked for me. Interesting album, just not really my thing for some reason.

It was alright

Glasgow is a banger

Good album, looking forward to see what they’re doing next!

I hate you Jennifer B. (No but seriously- what the hell)

I don't know, maybe I'm just tired - there's a lot of talent here in terms of composition and melody. And it's probably just me but this all sort of washed over me and never hit on a gut level. I don't have much in the way of negative thoughts about this but so maybe this is an album one needs (I need) to give a lot of time to. It's dense. So I guess I'll skip a 1000 word arrogant review/comment that nobody else should be reading anyways and leave this reference for my future self: sure maybe give this a shot but it might not be your thing then, either. Although that last track "50/50" is an abomination. 5/10 3 stars IMO: Belonged in the book? No.

Simultaneously boring and annoying. Sounds unfinished, like they made an album but somehow forgot to put any songs on it. One of the swear words used might be the first time the singer had ever sworn, and the other was probably the second. They seem to think they're Kid A era Radiohead, forgetting that glitchy beats and doctored vocals are not enough on their own, without actual listenable music to riff off. Finally, I never need to hear another English numpty mispronounce "Glasgow" - if you can't say it properly, don't say it at all!

I get that we were in a bit of a drought at the time but I don't get the hype. It's okay. Nothing surprising, nothing that emotive. Solid, middle ground 6 Music stuff. Not bad, but inessential.

How exciting! I went to school with Taylor (I didn’t know him well but he always seemed like a good guy) so have been thrilled seeing Jockstrap’s success. There’s some really great stuff here, and Concrete Over Water in particular is such a special song with amaaaazing vocals

Just listened to some avant-garde rap, and now this kind of similar-but-different avant-garde thing. Some of these songs were not my favorite listen, but there were several songs I liked like “Greatest Hits.”

This is one of those strange mix of genres that I don't know what to frame as. I didn't mind it but also am not in love

Borderline unlistenable

Hood classic

I have no strong feelings one way or the other, Jennifer B.
