It is hard to believe this was released in 1991. This sounds like something more recent, especially considering the sampling and production. Not sure how this band is a rock band though XD It certainly requires a few more listens to give this a decent rating, as there is so much to unpack here. I feel each listen you will discover something new, which is just a testament to the production here. Love it!
Lauryn Hill is iconic in her genre, and this is her most iconic album. A great inspiration for a lot of RnB and Hip Hop artists in the 00s and 10s. Many people may dislike the skits, but it adds to the narrative here, which has a complex backdrop of different samples and instruments, overlayed on hard kicks and beats that you expect from Hip Hop / R n B. All of it blends to give a truly 00s sound ahead of it's time. I could give a break down of every song but it would take too many words. Just know that there is a lot of range here, there is everything from acoustic guitar and gospel over beats, to more funky soulful tracks. I love this album if you haven't noticed already.
This guy must have blisters on his fingers. He is a madman on the piano. I loved every minute of this 22 minute live show. I have a real soft spot for this kind of bluesy jazzy show, and I wish I could go back in time and see this in person. In the meantime, while we wait for the delorean to be built, this album does the job. Anyone else looking for some retro live bluesy vibes: check out BB King's Live at Cook County Jail, one of my favs.
This album started with high hopes from me. A promise of mixing psychedelic rock and hardcore hip hop rhythms from Spotify's band description, however this was not what I expected. This is because this album actually comes from their acid house era which they became known for. This album started out with a bang, and soon became very samey to me. I know that's the case with this kind of music so maybe it needs a few more listens from me to get to grips with the subtleties of it, especially as i'm not really listening well when coding these days. To be honest this is a no from me dawg. 2 because I liked some tunes but mostly it's not my cup of tea.
There wasn't much in this album that truly gripped me. The most enjoyable part of Rush is the interesting mix of synths and guitar, which are unfortunately let down by the monotonous voice of the vocalist. The first half of the album is the most interesting, thanks to the apparent favourite opener "Tom Sawyer" and it's follow up "Red Barchetta", these are probably all you need to hear to get a gist of what Rush is all about. The next song "YYZ" stood out to me because the instruments took the limelight (ayy) in this song due to no vocals. The best part of the second half is "The Camera Eye", but arguably went on a tad too long. It could have stopped 7 minutes in and it would be still as good. I feel the vocalist could potentially have been saved by some better mixing, as his voice melts in to the background and doesn't really get an opportunity to punch through the overshadowing instrumentals. I admit that I enjoyed this album a bit more on the second play through, which historically has been how some of my favourite albums have started out, so maybe i'll be a Rush stan soon. For now though, I found this album mostly "meh". 2/5 on first play through, a light 3/5 on the second round (with rice)
Interesting intro to Metal for me. This is apparently "Nu Metal" which is a good entry point to metal for people that are interested. I still feel metal is quite boring in it's composition and melody, but I also thought the same about hip hop until I found good hip hop. This could be the same for metal. Korn is certainly a good intro for me, but I still feel there could be more to be done to make this interesting.
Could not stop banging my head. This is a great album to code to. Great vibes, great beats, great melodies, but it wasn't anything that makes me go "10/10 album!". 4
There is nothing here that massively stands out, but it is certainly a great representation of Sinatra, with songs that i've never heard before. Sinatra has such amazing talent and he does get some of it across here. But I feel other songs from him are more deserving of the elusive 5 stars.

i'll let Luke do the in depth review. This was alright.
Have a soft spot for folky female singers. She is no Aretha Franklin but definitely has a lot of well known songs on this album. I'd say the production isn't amazing on this but it was early 70s and not on a big label, so fair play to them for pushing out a bunch of bangers. I'll leave the technical analysis to bwoi. Also check out that McFly cover

Rock n Roll |,,,| Funky, rocky, everything I'd want out of a live gig. Would have sounded cooler being there though

Busy at work. CBA to write a review. It was average to me, with some notable tracks.
I've seen a side to The Verve i've never heard before. My favourite discovery here is "The Rolling People". There is a nice mix of different sounds here, though I found the pacing of this album a bit off, constantly switching between slightly upbeat and then down again, which is why this isn't a 5/5 (a Coop 2/5). Not a good review due to only listening while cooking lol
I have a soft spot for this kind of music. This may not be the real birth of cool, but it certainly is cool music, and great for programming concentration.
Enjoyable album, love a bit of Elton John. I felt that every song on this sounded like each other, but with interchanging instruments taking the front of the melody. Only listened once though unfortunately.
90s hip hop will always have a special place in my heart. It may not be for everyone, but this album demonstrates both great 90s hip hop production from DJ Premier, and great lyricism from Guru, in a collaboration that has gone on to be considered among the best for it's time, and onwards too, considering the latest releases from Gang Starr (posthumously from Guru). I have never heard this debut album, but I see why Gang Starr became so popular. This has everything you want out of that era, the jazzy samples, the social commentary topics, the little humorous skits, and the real chemistry that both artists demonstrate working together. The only reason I wouldn't give this a 5/5 is because I prefer other albums from that time (Tribe Called Quest do this all better IMO) but it's still fantastic.
I was raised on Pet Shop Boys, so this album is nothing new to me. I used to hate being woken up with this blasting at 9am on a Sunday, but listening this willingly is much more enjoyable.
It was like a whole album of Hotel California. Work is busy so can't say much, but 4/5 would listen again
It's nowhere near as good as Nevermind IMO, but still has a few good tracks here and there. A lot of stuff on this album isn't really my cup of Pennyroyal Tea ;)
Nostalgia again for me. I was raised on Human League. There are definitely some bangers on here, but unfortunately it's nothing that stands out as an amazing album, except for it ending on two belters
More nostalgia! You are probably starting to be able to tell which kind of music my parents listened to. This album is great, although the pet shop boys voice always has started to grate on me after more than 4 songs in a row. This doesn't mean it isn't fantastic as an album though.
Theres some real early signs of punk rock here, and according to the internet that is exactly what it is. My mum has always gone on about Elvis Costello and I just assumed he was some buddy holly type that wouldn't be up my street; however this was a surprise winner for me. I really enjoyed the guitar, synth and punky voice, plus I never knew "Pump It Up" was such an early song, it sounds like something from the 1990/2000s

This is a solid album by Outkast, when they fully established their sound in a newer era. I unfortunately prefer their earlier stuff, but this is known as one of their best. I'm only giving this a 3 because they have better.
Guilty pleasure. Love a bit of Travis. It's nothing groundbreaking though is it Me: "Mum can we listen to some Coldplay" Mum: "No we have Coldplay at home" Coldplay at home:
Found this quite boring to be honest. A few good songs here and there but otherwise nothing special.
Love a bit of Neil Young. Not sure why theres a load of live albums on this list, but I dig it. Everything broke at work so no time to review properly
I listened to this twice, admittedly while busy fixing servers on fire, but yet I was still unable to say anything here was amazing. Unfinished Sweet was quite a cool jam, and it was the only one that stood out to me. Giving this a 2. (2 for me means that I can see the appeal but it wasn't anything that stood out for me)
This album is _spectacular_. Almost the anthem of my youth, almost.
This is some easy listening stuff. Quite nice for my morning chores with a coffee! Although it's not something I would listen to again. I preferred Carole King and Bonnie Raitt for this kind of music. The intro is quite boring but it picked up a bit afterwards. I like the instrumentals, and the various different instruments I can hear being used in each song. Some that stand out to me: Help Me, Car on a Hill. Raise on Robbery is more my style. Twisted was a nice bluesy outro to the album.

Jazzy, soulful, not bad not bad. Was a bit repetitive to me but everything sounds that way when i'm not concentrating on the music
Say what you want about Coldplay, their second studio album is fantastic. Ignoring the overplayed popular hits like The Scientist and Clocks, this album is just banger after banger. I am a Coldplay stan though so maybe i'm biased here. The first track Politik sets the tone and is a great opening. The closing track Amsterdam is one of my favourites, I love the crescendo at the end there. The weakest track IMO is A Whisper, but it's still great.
