Sorry to say, but this really got in my nerves. Out of tune vocals don't have to be a problem, but when it's a whole choir it does.
Well, apparently these had something to do with King Crimson. Sure sounds that way. But these guys took it to the next step, which ment more complicated passages. For me that was just too much to take.
I know I'm stepping om some toes - and believe me I listened all the way through - but I simply cannot hear the genius in it. It's all jibberjabber to me.
I know I have to give every album a fair chance, but this was making too much demand on my ears. Endless jams are just not my cup of tea.
Mjah, leuke 90 sound maar wel erg netjes
Best gezellig, maar na een paar tracks word ik depressief van de vrolijkheid.
Dit klonk wel prettig en interessant. En met vlagen best goed.
I thought the debut was better, less polished. But not too bad.
Something for everyone, so to speak
I can understand why someone would want this in this list. When I first saw them live I was really impressed. Hearing it now, I can still understand why. But it is not really my kinda music anymore. Sorry guyz!
Ik weet dat dit heel hip en happening is, maar ik vind het toch allemaal iets te gelikt.
Als het openingsnummer al geen zang bevat, maar wel elektronische gelaagdheid weet ik genoeg.
Nice sound en folky vibe. I liked it.
Although I have a weakness for John Mayer, I can't help but think that it is always so neat and tidy and no sharp edges. That's also the case with this album.
I do not really know what to make of this. First the album was too long to keep me fully interested. Second, it was too dreamy as if nothing really happened. Last, if you do cover, make it count. This was too straight forward.
While hearing Black No. 1 I clearly remember the gothmetalheads going wild on this on the dancefloor in my younger years. Especially the ladies were particularly fond of Peter Steele. As then I can't fathom what the appeal was. Still can't actually. For me it is all over the place and no real point of reference.
I know I have to give every album a fair chance, but this was making too much demand on my ears. Endless jams are just not my cup of tea.
Although it sounded quite upbeat, I couldn't get into it and it made pretty restless.

I really believe that someone can see the beauty in this. For me, it's sounds nice and comfortable but that's it. I'm just not into country I'm afraid.
I thought this was prettig cool. Nice laidback and dreamy sound. On a good moment this is really enjoyable.
This is also a band that a lot of people walk away with. Though I like the voice I think the music makes it too pop for me. Now that I listened to the entire album, I still think it is not for me.
I didn't really know what to make of this. At first I heared a alternative version of Queen but later it shifted to more classic rock sound. But somehow I was intruiged by it and listened all the way through without thinking to turn it off. So kudos for Jellyfish
I thought this was pretty cool actually. Nice songs and a good vibe. What else do you need?
Well, apparently these had something to do with King Crimson. Sure sounds that way. But these guys took it to the next step, which ment more complicated passages. For me that was just too much to take.
I really like this. Especially the openingtrack and Yes I'm Changing are one of my favorites. But that's simply not for the entire album.

I actually quite enjoyed this. Enough depth, but also good sounding tunes.
This was nice and cosy on a lazy afternoon. But nothing I haven't already heared behoren in this genre.
This is the first time that I heared of this band. Although it sounds pretty nice and sometimes catchy, it is still ska/punk; a genre which I have absolutely no affinity with. And that they sing it in their native language doesn't help either.
Lovely and sometimes biting indie folk. I can really get into this, when the mood is right.
This was pretty cool! Although the native vocals sounded a bit weird at first, I got really into this.
This is that band with the anoying 'Hey ho'. The however is pretty good to swallow. Nice vibes an a sunny day like this. But together it is also very tidy and pop minded. That's not bad, but a little more edge would be nice!
What's up with all native language bands? Nothing against it, but it just sounds so weird. Especially when it's also prog. In the end, not bad.
Some indie bands I really like, some bands I just like and some bands which I dislike. I can't really explain why, but it just wasn't going anywhere for me
This is why I still like to listen to the user albums. Sometimes there's an entrance which you just like. At first it sounded just folky but later there was also a rawness with heavy guitars and a kind of progressive feel also, especially the song 'The Wanting Comes in Waves/ Repaid' which I found quite appealing with that epic chorus. But they kept the quality going til the end. Chapeau!
In general I find Bad Religion a cool band. They got the DIY mentality, catchy songs and intelligent lyrics. Although I liked the follow-up a little better (Stranger Than Fiction), still I think this is a good album.
Call me crazy, but I actually enjoyed this at some moments. At first I had my review already written down. But after a few songs I felt a different vibe than with her other candypop sisters. A little sophistication if you will. Long story short, sometimes there's more than meets the eye.
Hard to explain but I simply cannot get into his music. Maybe it's the depressive vibe that hangs around the songs, I just don't know.
I find this practically unlistenable, due to all these messy passages. And that this goes on for more than an hour, doesn't help either.
Well, the eighties. What shall I say. Nothing really spectacular came out of this era. At least in my humble opinion. And this certainly falls under that umbrella. That high pitch vocal really gets on my nerves.
I know people raved about this then and I think some called it album of the year, but I never understood it. I really loved his debut with his beautiful voice. On this album is full of vocoder and autotune. Such a waste.
Something with a lot slicky funk and failed attempt to cover The Beatles.
I can really get into this kinda hiphop, especially because of it's social consciousness.
I'm a big fan of Death Cab and the voice of Ben Gibbard. That's why I found it comfortable to listen to this album. Despite of this, the musical accompaniment is not really to my liking. Bu it is still Ben 😉
Didn't really quite know what to make of this. This was some kind of mixture of all kinds of styles with various artists. The first song I recognized from the radio. The rest was not that memorable I'm afraid.
This was not kinda bad, but not really good either. Middle-of-the-road is the propper name for it. Easy to listen to, but also easy to forget.
Well, what can I say. I love a lot of the Procupine Tree records and the work Wilson did with Opeth. But honestly, this work doesn't distinguish itself a lot from what he did earlier. That doesn't mean I don't like it. Quite the contrary. I still have weakness for this kinda prog. And on a good moment when I have the space to listen to it, it still sounds great.
Yes, it's all very nice and very well played. But it's just too slick and soft for my taste.
I always thought of blink-182 as an infantile punkpop band, especially when I heared Enema of the State. My opinion. But this is certainly something completely different. I can really get in to this, now that they take a more serious approach. Kudos! It could have been 4 stars, if it wasn't for the guest appearance by Robert Smith of The Cure. Damn Robert, you were certainly at the wrong party.
A band I know by name and some hits, but I never heared an entire album of them. And it felt a little strange because I thought of Dave Matthews as an alternative guitarpop band, but this album is more than meets the eye with a lot of other musical influences. I got really into this.
I am truly sorry, but there are boundaries in what I like in music. And this is just not it.
Too much folk, much less rock unfortunately.
This had a good vibe. Period.
Funkgods from my home country. Although this was not my kinda music back in the day, now I can really appreciate this and hear how good and tight it is. Well done!
I already commented on this when I heared blink-182. I think this just infantile punkpop and shouldn't be on anybodies eindlist in my opinion. Sorry if any vulnerable souls were hurt while reading this subjective review 😉
Well, I hear this band a lot on various radiostations. But it is just not for me. Too British and the vocals annoy me just too much.
I read that this was a producer and album was named best disco/electronic album of the year. This may be the case, but for me it was too much electro and too weird I'm afraid.
I don't why I don't listen to this more often. It is so good and catchy. And I respect and admire his guts to speak up about difficult subjects like cancer, suicide, etc. Great job!
This was really interesting to listen to. A more than meets the eye kinda punkband, which sometimes reminded me of Joy Division. Cool vibe!
Sorry to say, but this really got in my nerves. Out of tune vocals don't have to be a problem, but when it's a whole choir it does.
This sounds really energetic, but without visuals it is just too chaotic for me. And I really believe if I was in the crowd I would be blown away. So, three stars it is.
Truly sorry, but reggae and dub never have been for me. After one song I am done, especially when there is no vocal to be spotted.
This is really a niche kinda thing. Folk in a native language. I can understand that it can be appealing for some people. But I am nit one of them.
Chill vibes and nice voice.
Wow, I thought this was absolutely briljant. I know his live shows can be good, and now I know why. What a boss!
Sometimes you need a good moment to enjoy music like this. And this was a good one inderdaad.
Although this is normaly not the kinda music I would listen to, this was quite enjoyable.
Electronic music has always been a bit difficult for me, but in this case it is been mixed with acoustic elements and introspective lyrics. And than you have me. Well done!
This had a cool indie vibe with a lot of songs to enjoy! Kudos
One of the bands that shaped my musical interest and inspired me to make music myself! Sublime album from head to toe.
It's always hit and miss with rap/hiphop acts, but in this case I thought was pretty cool! Especially because of the creative beats and samples and sophisticated raps, this turned out pretty nice!
What a load of crap is this? Or am I just getting too old for this shit? Over the top and stripped of all emotion. Just not for me.
Wauw, it's been a while since I heared some good ol' fashioned emocore. Sounded really good to my ears!
Oh my God, I almost forgot that this could be one of de user's choices. So grateful that someone did, because this album fabulous from head 'til toe. Not a single bad song on it. And 'Say It Ain't So' is still one of my all time favorite tracks. So 5 stars it is.
I knew this bandname, but never heared a single note. Although it has that ska vibe I still enjoyed it because of all the styles they blended it with.
Although this was pleasant to listen to, it wasn't that noteworthy for a 1001 list in my opinion.
I really loved the voice and atmospheric vibe on this album and enjoyed listening to it.
I would have expected '...Skinny Fists...' in this list as it has been seen as their masterpiece. But to be honest, this album is just as good! Only 3 stars though, because it is just not my favorite kinda music.
I find the album cover a little misleading. I was expecting metal, but all I got was some good ol' fashioned hardrock. Melodic, catchy and good to listen to! Also a little too smooth for my taste, but that didn't spoil the party.
Korn has always been one of those bands I could have liked but never did. Too much now metal and not enough depth.
This had some good vibes, but in general it did not quite appeal to me. Not enough edge for me.
I am a great enthusiast for progmusic and love what the band did with Steve H., especially with Brave and Marbles. The Fish era just did not do it for me, although it brought their biggest hits.
Meh, this really didn't do anyhthing for me I'm afraid.
This sounded beautiful indeed, but also a bit tidy and nothing out of the ordinary.
Except for Neil Young and Afghan Whigs I don't care much for out of tune singing lead vocalists. And here we have two of them.
This was really nice and energetic.
This sounded a lot like Pink Floyd to me. Makes sense, since this was his first attempt after leaving the band. I quite like Pink Floyd, so this was a warm bath.
I think NIN would have listened to this a lot. I however did not make it to the end. Too much undefined stremming.
This was actually pretty cool!
A nice, soulful and groovy kinda rock. Kudos
I'm afraid I have to disagree with my fellow user in this group. Although it sounds good, it's a total Led Zep ripp-off. In at least three songs I hear a riff or vocal line that sounds exactly like that. No, this I cannot approve.
It has been a while that I stopped listening after 30 seconds. The first thing I thought was: is this some kind of bad cover band from South America. In any case, enough for me to come to this quick conclusion.
I only know this from the hit 'Love Shack'. Although I realise this is a shallow bottom to critisize the rest of their music, it is the only thing I can do. It is simply too frivolic and gimmick like to me. After a few songs I was done.
Although I like the sound, the vocals me so nervous that I can't listen any longer.
God, I love this band. Especially when they play live. Then they are at their best. But what a great album. Not single bad song on it and all so different. Great achievement, with also great songs as The New Year, Transatlanticism and We Looked Like Giants.
First, I'm more a fan of the Steve H. era than the few albums they did with Fish. So, this album has a head start. I have to say this is definitely not their best effort. Simply because it's too precarious in contrast with albums like their magnum opus Brave and Marbles. On the other hand it inhabits beautiful songs like the titletrack and one of best progrocksongs in my opinion: Out of This World. All in all, 3 stars are sufficient.
Sorry, this is too much tongue in cheek and theatrical for me, especially when someone doesn't try to sing.
Although the raps are pretty impressive, it just gets too much on my nerves.
This was actually a pretty cool listening experience. I knew his name but never heared a single note from him. Nice songs and funny lyrics, that was the key! Well done Adam.
Well, I couldn't make anything out of this. Sure that there people like this kinda South American vibe, but I'm not one of them.
