Popular Reviews

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly

You don't have to take drugs to listen to this album, but it would help.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Mar 28 2021

Not my cup of tea. A bit too chaotic and all-over-the-place, although I did enjoy the last track, "Monkey in Your Soul"

Mar 29 2021

I recognize the artistic and societal impact this album had on other performers in the 1960s, and I enjoyed the window into this bit of history. The music, however, was not my cup of tea.

London Calling by The Clash
Mar 30 2021

My favorite album by The Clash, and one of my all-time favorite albums by any band. I love the loose, live feel of their performances, as well as the ska influences. The track "Death or Glory" is one of my favorite songs.

E.V.O.L. by Sonic Youth
Mar 31 2021

I am not a big fan of the atonal noise-pop music of Sonic Youth, although there were a few tracks that I would listen to again: Starpower, In The Kingdom #19, and Bubblegum

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Apr 01 2021

You don't have to take drugs to listen to this album, but it would help.

Synchronicity by The Police
Apr 02 2021

It's not bad, but it's my least favorite album by The Police, so I'm giving it three stars.

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Apr 04 2021

Such a weird album. It was as if Tom Jones had recorded an album about prostitutes, venereal disease, why dogs are better than women, drugs, and psychosis.

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Apr 06 2021

This album was very Bowie-esque, which makes sense considering that David Bowie wrote most of the instrumentals and produced the album. I liked "Dum Dum Boys", but mostly because of the instrumental backing track.

Tragic Songs of Life by The Louvin Brothers
Apr 15 2021

Not my cup of tea, but I appreciate the interesting slice of history represented by the murder ballads and gospel songs the brothers recorded.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Apr 23 2021

I liked It's Tricky and Walk This Way, but not much else.

Lazer Guided Melodies by Spiritualized
Apr 26 2021

Another album of which I was completely unaware, and liked more than I expected to. I particularly enjoyed "Run".

Searching For The Young Soul Rebels by Dexys Midnight Runners
May 01 2021

I like the combination of soul, punk, and ska, but I've never really liked Kevin Rowland's voice and vocal style.

Tommy by The Who
May 10 2021
May 14 2021

John Lydon of The Sex Pistols showed that you don't have to be able to sing to be a lead vocalist, and The Buzzcocks took that information and ran with it.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Other

Album origins are grouped into three buckets: US, UK, and everything else. “Other” means the artists you rate highest are from outside the US and UK.
