This is my 2nd or 3rd time listening to this record. Dense and lush instrumentals all over the place, big electric symphony. I get the sense that the band was trying to write something super ambitious and I think they nailed it. Definitely got some weird stuff on it, Wayne Coyne is a huge acid guy. Fight Test, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1, Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell, and Do You Realize are my stand out tracks. Sober Me gives it 7.5/10, Stoned Me gives it 8.5/10
This album felt extremely 80s to me. The production was slick, big synths and punchy drums. I had a lot of lyrics jump out at me but that and the production was the only things I appreciated. I bet this album was revered back in the day but the synthy dance pop doesn't do a whole lot for me. Standout track was I Want to Wake Up. 3/10
I know why all my favorite punk singers sound like they do now. Patti Smith is yelping, yelling, and sometimes just speaking all over this record. It felt like listening to a beat poet with a backing band that knew three chords and four notes for leads. So raw and unpredictable, I was just taken by her style. I think I would've hated this record if she just sang it straight. Super cool, big no fucks given energy. Wasn't huge on when she switched up with the reggae Redongo Beach or jazzy, weird Birdland. Standout songs were Gloria, Free Money, and Land. 8/10 but I could easily see this becoming 9/10 if I kept listening to it
Didn't expect this kind of album from Beck. Liked it way more that I thought I would've. The songwriting is my favorite part, really nice arrangements. The acoustic was nice and he really just created an atmosphere. Would definitely listen again. Standout tracks Lost Cause and Already Dead. 6/10
Ferocious punky blues. Worked for for some songs, didn't work for others
Remain in Light: These songs have such a manic energy. It's all so tight but they get loose with the leads and such all throughout. I already really like this album but I used to absolutely hate the Talking Heads specifically because of Once in a Lifetime. I even saw the singer David Byrne in concert and still didn't like them. I eventually listened to their other stuff and it clicked. Really just pushing this crazy dance rhythms all throughout but by the last song, it's really slow and driving. 8/10
Brazillian prog rock fusion hits right
Better than that Elvis album I heard
Pretty good still. Love the songwriting, guitars. Steven Tyler has long been one of my favorite vocalists. It's a classic record but I think only their 2nd or 3rd best. Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way still hold up for me. Round and Round is randomly this heavy sounding song thrown into the record that I always forget about. Uncle Salty bangs too. 7/10
Reminds me kinda of Springsteen. Great songs but he still had a lot of growth after this record
Just a little weird but some good songs on here. Enjoyable listen that keeps true to their sound
I wanna play guitar like Coltrane plays sax
Liked most of the songs, the rapping felt out of place to me. Heavy guitars, great vocals
Mom rock, grocery store music
