Popular Reviews

Diamonds & Gasoline by Turnpike Troubadours

2.77 global score?! Man, this group hates country. Give me some good country roots music any time of the day.

WORRY by Jeff Rosenstock

How do I now know about this guy or the bands he led before going solo? Great indie punk rock

Sparkle In The Finish by The Ike Reilly Assassination

this guy's pretty cool. Does this belong on the list? No. But I could see someone superfanning on this band

TRON: Legacy by Daft Punk
Apr 13 2026

OK, I love Daft Punk and a lot of what's on here is some great Daft Punk material. And then a lot of it is just kind of typical orchestral movie soundtrack stuff. You could tell this is a movie soundtrack without being told. Just a bunch of dramatic, intense-sounding pieces that were clearly playing during some high-drama scene. I'm not a fan of movie soundtracks.

I Had a Dream That You Were Mine by Hamilton Leithauser
Apr 14 2026

man, I listened to that earlier today and now I seriously can't even remember what it sounded like. I do remember thinking "that was ok, I guess I'll give it a 3." But upon further reflection, an album that forgettable doesn't deserve a 3.

Word Gets Around by Stereophonics
Apr 15 2026

Because the original list didn't have enough 90s brit-pop... But, really, I didn't hate it all. It's sub-3 but I'll round up.

Somewhere In The Between by Streetlight Manifesto
May 15 2026

A genre I never got super in to but is always fun to listen to or see live.

May 16 2026

jeez, if I didn't know better I would have thought this was the original list. More jangly late 80s/early 90s indie Brit pop. It's not bad but it's also just kind of boring. 2.5 rounding down.

Watch Out! by Alexisonfire
May 17 2026

screamo. I like some of it but then it gets kind of tedious. I'm a big fan of the heavy stuff but this genre doesn't really speak to me. 2.5 rounding down.

Pushin' Against a Stone by Valerie June
May 18 2026

here's a name I've heard but didn't know her work at all. Very unique vocals, cool mix of bluegrass, blues, country.

Solid State Survivor by YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA
May 20 2026

Whoa, Japanese Kraftwerk! These guys are fun

Racine carrée by Stromae
May 21 2026

I don't really like most pop or hip hop. Some of this was pretty cool but still didn't do it for me.

May 23 2026

would I rate this as high if I were hearing it for the first time now? Probably not. But this and their next album came out when I was 14 or 15 and was in heavy rotation on the alternative rock radio station I listened to and part of that soundtrack of my youth. I might even have this CD kicking around somewhere.

First Utterance by Comus
May 25 2026

not enough mushrooms for me to enjoy this album. There were moments it piqued my interest. The only saving it from a 1 star.

May 26 2026

apparently I only know Muse via their radio hits. Pretty sure I haven't heard anything from this album. Loved it. Time to listen to more Muse.

A1A by Jimmy Buffett
Jun 12 2026

I guess I know why I pretty much have only listened to his greatest hits. I genuinely like most of those songs. But, DAMN, this guy was prolific. Seems like he was churning out a ton of "I'm drunk in the Caribbean" slop with a few gems mixed in.

Temple of Thought by Poets of the Fall
Jun 14 2026

wow... this is really just not good. With a name like Poets of the Fall, I guess that's not surprising.

Year of the Cat by Al Stewart
Jun 15 2026

A two-hit-wonder folk/soft rock act from the 70s. I had a feeling this wasn't going to land for me. There were some moments that I did perk up for but, overall, this was not my jam.

Loss by Mull Historical Society
Jun 16 2026

At first I wasn't totally sold but this is pretty adjacent to a lot of stuff I love, like The Mountain Goats or AJJ. I'll check out more. 3.25 rounding down.

Emotional Mugger by Ty Segall
Jun 17 2026

Love me some Ty Segall. I really need to listen to more of his stuff. This guy is PROLIFIC!

Diamonds & Gasoline by Turnpike Troubadours
Jun 18 2026

2.77 global score?! Man, this group hates country. Give me some good country roots music any time of the day.

Old No. 1 by Guy Clark
Jul 02 2026

Another great I'm not super familiar with, though I recognize a lot of these songs. 3.5 rounding up

Bob Mould by Bob Mould
Jul 03 2026

kinda felt like generic, 90s alternative rock. Sorry Bob, I know how much you hate alternative rock.

Kick by INXS
Jul 05 2026

chalk full of 80s bangers!

WORRY by Jeff Rosenstock
Jul 07 2026

How do I now know about this guy or the bands he led before going solo? Great indie punk rock

After Hours by The Weeknd
Jul 08 2026

I keep trying to like The Weeknd. I'll hear a song like Blinding Lights get excited and then I'll dig a little deeper and it's just too pop. This album has some great stuff. Very synthwavey. But it's still a pop star doing synthwave. If I wanted vocal synthwave I'd listen to The Midnight or Gunship. But I do really enjoy a few of the tracks on this record.

Pop Art by Transvision Vamp
Jul 09 2026

New to me. Started out pretty fun got got old after a bit. 2.5 rounding up

Highway Prayers by Billy Strings
Jul 10 2026

Billy Strings shredddddsssss! Love this guy.

Jul 11 2026

I may have bought this album through a BMG, 20 CDs for a penny deal when I was about 13. I played the disc to death. If I heard this album for the first time today, I'd probably give it a 2 or 3 but the history I have with this pushes it up. It's weird as hell and I don't enjoy the vocals nearly as much as I used to but the jams still get me.

GLOW ON by Turnstile
Jul 12 2026

One of these bands I keep hearing about but haven't spent much time on. Unique blend of punk and indie rock I guess. Glad to see something that hews more toward "real" punk rock is blowing up rather so much of the pop punk that is has gone mainstream. 3.5 rounding up

Donuts by J Dilla
Jul 13 2026

this is not an album. It's a bunch of 1 to 2 minute clips of beats and samples. It's a style of hip hop I really enjoy. But this just feels like some guy fucking around. A compilation of ideas J Dilla may have had for full songs. Gets a 3 because I enjoyed them all but could have been better if these were more substantial.

This Could Be Texas by English Teacher
Jul 17 2026

huh, for some reason I'd got it in my head that that "R&B" song was Wet Leg. These guys are good. Will they stand the test of time and deserve to be on this list? IDK

Alive Or Just Breathing by Killswitch Engage
Jul 19 2026

I like a lot of metal but this is a bit too screamy for me. Definitely hear the Pantera influence, which hooks me here and there but, overall, wasn't enough to keep my interest.

Voodoo by D'Angelo
Jul 20 2026

I tried. It had its moments

Transient by Gaelle
Jul 22 2026

Whoooooo?? After a quick skim through the first track, I knew this was going to get a 1 star but I did my due diligence and skimmed through a few more before committing.

Choirs Of The Eye by Kayo Dot
Jul 29 2026

Wow, it started out and I thought I was getting a jazz album and then it got all death metally on me. Then it was just all over the place. This is definitely interesting but maybe a bit too avante-garde for my tastes. Props for something pretty damn unique though. 2.5 rounding up. I bet this get savaged by the community...

Moa Anbessa by Getatchew Mekurya
Jul 30 2026

Generally speaking, jazz is not my jam. But I've got a soft spot for Ethiopian jazz. This is so good.

What If Leaving Is a Loving Thing by Sahara Hotnights
Jul 31 2026

Not bad. 80s inspired girl pop rock. I probably won't be digging into their discography but didn't hurt to listen to.

Bon Iver by Bon Iver
Aug 01 2026

We have a running joke with some friends that Lord Huron is Sad Dad music (overheard conversation of a teen/twenty-something describing the band to a friend). These guys are way Sadder Dads. Kinda all sounds the same but it's not bad.

L'autre... by Mylène Farmer
Aug 02 2026

2.5 rounding up

2 by Mac DeMarco
Aug 04 2026

Hipster lounge act? I've heard this guy's name a million times but don't know if I've ever listened to his stuff. Not terrible. Not exactly my jam either.

Super Ape by The Upsetters
Aug 05 2026

Man, that album art! I don't love reggae but this classic era is pretty great.

Sparkle In The Finish by The Ike Reilly Assassination
Aug 11 2026

this guy's pretty cool. Does this belong on the list? No. But I could see someone superfanning on this band

Body Talk by Robyn
Aug 12 2026

Who? *checks Spotify* Oh, 12.5m monthly listeners. Guess I'm out of touch. Her big hit, Dancing on My Own sounded vaguely familiar. Decent for pop. Still pop. I got about halfway through and decided to throw in the towel.

Psychic Warfare by Clutch
Aug 13 2026

fuck yeah! Love it when a band I actually follow makes it onto the list. Clutch is one of those bands that I've known of forever but only started getting into heavier music in the last 5-10 years. They're heavy but also have a bluesy, funkiness. I'm glad the rockers are representing on this UGC list!

Canciones 1989-2013 by Extremoduro
Aug 14 2026

44 tracks and 3hr 38 min??????? Who the fuck did this? Compilations like this do not belong. Pick an *ALBUM*. I have a feeling the low rating is more about this than the actual music. I'll try to give it a fair shake. ...OK, it sounds like this band was/is a really big deal in Spain so props to the Spaniard for repping a band that was never going to make it onto the US/UK dominated list. Rating purely on the music and not my displeasure with someone including a career-spanning compilation album, I have to say this is a 3.5 rounding up. These guys drift between hard rock, punk, with even a little jazz mixed in here and there. If they came up in a mix, I certainly wouldn't skip.

The Crimson Idol by W.A.S.P.
Aug 15 2026

W.A.S.P. is one of those hair metal bands I'm not really familiar with. I'm curious why someone would choose an album from 1992 rather than one of they heyday albums from the 80s. All in all, pretty generic butt rock but it's still a genre I really enjoy so.... 4

Dreamboat Annie by Heart
Aug 16 2026

Love some of it .... not so much for some of the 70s folk songs that are peppered in. But a solid entry on the list.

Comfort To Me by Amyl and The Sniffers
Aug 17 2026

YEEESSS! Man, I appreciate you music lovers for putting together a better list than the original. I love this band.

Symbolic by Death
Aug 26 2026

oh boy, the metal heads are making their presence know on this list! Love it. I've never been a huge fan of Death's vocals but they are, undeniably, hugely influential on the genre and deserve a place on the list. Haven't seen the overall reviews yet but I bet this gets savaged by all you metal haters. 3.5 rounding up
