Ace of Spades
MotörheadDidn't mind it much. Just high-tempo and fun - you know what you're getting. Not much variety. However, 1 star for Jailbait. Don't be a nonce.

Plenty to like about this album - some of the lyrics and instrumentation are brilliant. Also plenty to dislike. In all, I can kind of appreciate a work of madness made in earnest even if there's a lot wrong with it.
On first listen, kind of annoyed me a bit and wasn't really the vibe at the time, but I stuck it on the day after and didn't mind it. You really do have to be in the mood. I can appreciate why the album is raved about, it's a really cohesive set of songs, no track really feeling like filler, with punchy stripped back rock/blues production. However, it does begin to feel a bit samey after a while and I was looking forward to the album finishing at about the 40min mark. Aside from the famous tracks, I really liked The Air Near My Fingers. I would probably listen to this album again, but would need to be in the mood. I do however think it deserves a place in the 1001, mostly due to the quality of the album, but it isn't really for me. All in all, not a bad album, but relative to the other albums in the 1001, not a particularly high scorer.
Yeah it's Gorillaz innit. Not my fave album they've ever done though. Some of it kind of grated on me, lots of it was a bop. Deserves to be in the 1001 but I probably wouldn't listen to it more than once a year.
Fun Britpop. Lots of influences from The Who, especially Liberty Ship. Liked it as an album and a fun collection of songs but nothing much deeper. Would listen again :)
Killer album. Amazing beats, great flow and delivery. It was a good day is an insane track.
If you want to listen to half an hour of James Brown working a crowd of screaming girls, this one's for you.
Yeah it was decent, not my favourite from them but you can hear their sound evolving towards the end of the album. Can see why it's here, probably wouldn't listen again apart from a few songs.
I enjoyed it a lot, would listen again.
I'm not sure why but I loved this album.
I like my christmas albums served with a dash of murder
I was bored by this album halfway through.
I can appreciate why people like it but it isn't for me, chief
neat
Became terrible after tainted love. Sex dwarf was especially horrendous. Had to turn it off
not really for me but i see the appeal
This album is a pure 5 - every song slaps like mad. Futterman's rule is especially sick
Absolutely not for me. I can't imagine this being somebody's favourite album. I would not be their friend
Didn't mind it. Don't normally like croon-y stuff but quite enjoyable, maybe because i was drinking a tasty cup of tea
Found this a bit grating on first listen due to Jonathan Richman's voice but I was compelled to give it another go and didn't mind it.
Some catchy songs and some annoying songs. Might listen again but would have to be in the mood
I purposely chose not to listen to this because the guy is a cunt.
I'm a sucker for prog and psych. Perpetual change is a particular highlight. Not a mind-blowing album, but really enjoyable. Overall a 3 but a very honourable 3 - will very likely listen again.
Decent but a bit irritating after a while. I can imagine this would be great to run or write an essay to. One of those ones I need to be super in the mood for
Just nice folksey stuff. Not super engaging in my opinion but enjoyable enough.
Grew up with this shit. I like it
This was a pleasant surprise. I never got on 100% with Tribe outside of the hits but I enjoyed this album top to bottom. Maybe sounded a little dated but it was still great. Immediately put it back on after I finished.
Grew up with Steely Dan always on in the house so associated with happy memories. These songs are basically baked into my brain and I still remember nearly every word. Bit Dad rock for most but I do fuck with Steely Dan significantly. Not my favourite album of theirs but still decent.
Yeah lovely. Big CSNY fan so good to hear his solo stuff. RIP
Not bad but didn't blow me away. Pretty enjoyable overall.
It was alright but dropped off for me after some solid openers.
I enjoyed this a lot. Some weird wobbly bits but generally really solid. Don't get the global reviews slagging it off at all. Halcyon and On and On is a genuinely beautiful track.
Good things to do while listening to this album: go for a run, shout at a pigeon, kick a bin. Bad things to do while listening to this album: write an essay, commute, literally anything else. My favourite thing about these weird punk/ hardcore albums is that they're short and the songs are punchy. I didn't mind most of it but by the end I was done. Especially the last nearly 10 minute slog
Listened to this a while ago so can't remember 100%. It was fun and energetic but not especially complex I guess? Quite good to listen to while cleaning. Would probably listen to again.
Classic Zappa really. Some of it sounds great and some is a bit grating but overall fun to listen to. Probably more on the side of enjoyable and at least unpredictable if nothing else
Just a really good post-hardcore album and I'd listen again happily.
Some weird shit in here, some of it not really for me and some of it not bad. You do get a sense that the album is made in earnest at least. Most of the tracks feel like demos. But the guy wrote most of it while detained in a mental health ward so...
Beautiful stuff. Fell in love with it instantly
If you like country you probably like this but I don't much
Yeah I actually didn't mind this much! I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Pulp as I find Jarvis a bit much sometimes but once you accept he's like that it gets more enjoyable. Lots of his vocals are very Bowie-esque, and once I had recognised that I don't mind that style in other contexts it made it a sweeter pill to swallow. Liked the instrumentation throughout the album and it was an interesting listen. Didn't give me the strong emotional reaction necessary for higher scores but I vibed with most of it so an honourable mention.
Sick of it by halfway through
Just a really sick punk album. You can hear how influential it was on post-punk and hardcore. I really enjoyed it.
Didn't mind it much. Just high-tempo and fun - you know what you're getting. Not much variety. However, 1 star for Jailbait. Don't be a nonce.
I can see what's going on here I guess but it was a chore for me. Maybe on a different day
Goes into the waily end of the rock-folk-indie-alternative spectrum which does grate on a me a little. This album definitely sounds like the mid 2000's and it does produce some bangers.
Plenty to like about this album - some of the lyrics and instrumentation are brilliant. Also plenty to dislike. In all, I can kind of appreciate a work of madness made in earnest even if there's a lot wrong with it.
his voice really does get on my fucking tits after a while.
yeah i dunno
