Moving in With: Drum nya keren, rima kata di liriknya jga lucu. Aransemen lagunya juga trippy, mungkin krna dri penggunaan ekstasi & obat2an yg banyak waktu rekaman albumnya. Mad cyril: itu hammond organ kah? Boleh lah utk efeknya di lagu. Bring a friend: di saat tertentu, vokalnya out of time, tpi instrumental album nya ttp bikin formula nya bekerja, jdi ga kacau bgt. Lazyitis: Lgu yg ditulis jga dngan bantuan lirik dri Beatles - Ticket to Ride. Unik jga krna kyk dnger lgu Beatles tpi dimodif sama Happy Mondays
Klo mau menerapkan “Rule of Thumb”, album keluaran Blue Note sdh tidak perlu diragukan lagi dikarenakan circle label nya yg ud melegenda. Jimmy Smith di belakang organ mampu memberikan groove yg catchy utk smua lagu, Walaupun dirasa peran Smith lebih terdengar seperti support utk sinSaxophonist Stanley Turrentine.
Enough said.
Somehow the album overall does not really have my attention. All the tracks seems flat / feels the same, resulting in a feeling of repetition. Favorite track, if I really have to choose, is probably “For a Spanish Guitar”. I dont see myself revisiting this album, at least for now (probably ever).
Love the sound of traditional percussion on “Ponderosa”, blends really well & glued everything together. Black Steel is one of my favorites from the album, with the breakdown halfway through the track. Brand New Retro laid the foundation to Ye’s sound as an artist.
It’s really cool to see the band blend different genres into their music. Not only genres, at times it feels like they also incorporate music from different eras such as the 60’s. Really interesting. However, moments like the harmonies for “I Can’t Stand It” leave a bad feeling in the mouth for me.
Very unique at times, give me a Jimi Hendrix vibe. However “Out of Focus” is just a total mess for me. The guitar solo clashing with each other is a nope for me.
I appreciate the concept of the album, but sounded like an old man ranting for me.
Very nice to listen to as a background music.
I saw this album pop up too many times, but just haven’t figured out the right time to listen to. After giving it my first listen, I can say that it lives up to the expectation. The shoegaze inspired track like “The Individual” provides a unique production towards the end. Sounded random yet easy to listen to. The album also doesn’t shove heavy bangers onto our ears, but at some point brings us mellow tunes, which balances the whole album. Layers of sounds & production on this album is just… I can’t even describe it, it’s just beautiful. I haven’t been amazed by an album for so long.
Im sorry. But its just not my cup of tea as it is too messy & noisy :/
No wonder its called one of the albums that pioneered the shoegaze movement. I can see the impact left by them on the upcoming bands after them. However, the main problem in this album is the use heavily distorted sound that can really interfere with my listening session. I had to skip some songs just because i cant handle the amount of screeching. But it is still an interesting album though.
Very different from their 2 previous album 👍
Not into punk :/
This album is always on my harddrive, but I just never got the time to listen to it until last night. I was immediately amazed by this album, mainly because of its ballads. Radiohead also shifted their lyrics into a more cryptic one compared to their first album. I will definitely listen to this album again.
overall a solid punk record. However I have trouble listening to their vocals because of the frequent screaming and all, so I have to pull up the lyrics for this album.
An okay album, with some out of time vocals & drums.
Sorry , but it’s a total whack. Dont even know how it made it to the must listen before you die list.
