Absolute pish. Grew incredibly tired of the constant forced angst this record seemed to present very quickly. There is only a number of times I can hear a man shout 'F*ck that sh*t' before I start pull out my own eyelashes in frustration.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Feb 28 2023

Eh. Nice to listen to, but going out of the experience, I cannot remember a single track.

Decent. Favourite tracks include, 'Last Night I Dreamt (That Somebody Loved Me)'. Morrisey's vocals got annoying after a while. A short, no doubt well produced body of work, but I could not really connect with it on the most part.

I am not really a great lover of this type of music. The country twang is at times off putting. It is pleasant record overall, and I shall probably revisit the first couple of tracks sometime. I cannot see myself revisiting this in full in the future however.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple

Great riffs and heavy sound. Shall definitely be coming back to this. The drumming is wonderful also.

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba

The vocals are really pleasing on this. This is my first introduction to African style music. Pleasantly surprised. Shall definitely revisit sometime.

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Mar 14 2023

At times it is enjoyable, but it is a forgettable project on the whole. There are small elements of brilliance here, but I cannot see myself revisiting this again. There are simply better records in this genre, of which possess more character.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Somehow both ELPs biggest strength and weakness is their technical virtuosity. While, it undoubtedly displays some of the best examples of instrumental skill around, the record often shows it self to be series of incohesive warm up exercises. I would say the same about most of ELPs catalogue to be honest, although I absolutely think this is the strongest of the bunch besides Brain Salad Surgery. I can understand its place in the list, given it is perfect evidence of just how incredible musicians could be back in the 60s and 70s, but the song writing could really do with some work.
